I'm retired and knit/crochet about 12 hours a day it keeps my anxiety down and exercises my arthritic hands

I also notice that I end up knitting more on most weekdays, because I sneak in a few rows here and there to rest my eyes after looking at a screen for so long + lunchbreak knitting and unwinding in the evening. So fun to see this comparison, as a data nerd this quantification made me really happy 🤓

I like to measure in grams rather than inches - depending on my project and how many stitches I have, one hour can look really different, but when I go by weight I feel better lol

due to bi polar with severe social anxiety and a chunk of PTSD i stay home all day which means i litterally crochet all day, most days i average around 7-9 hours, i rarely leave my house except on sunday for church, crochet is so soothing and a great talent to have,,,, thank you for a great video 🙂

Did no one else take a screenshot of her book, enter some of the text into Google, and come up with “A Spell for Trouble?” Looks like a cozy mystery involving witches. I’m in, and just deciding whether to get it from the library (free, but 1 hour drive) or Kindle (instant, but not free). Also, it’s so sweet that you talk to your mother often! My mother used to call me regularly, but at 91, that’s just no longer in her wheelhouse. I do call her weekly, though.

Check if your library has ebooks, lots of libraries do, so it's free AND no drive! ;)

I'm a full time college student with a campus job so most of my crochet time comes after I'm able to come back to my dorm and decompress. I'll usually crochet while watching TV/RU-vid or while reading textbooks, and depending on how busy I am I average between half an hour and 2 hrs of crochet per day.

I literally have not knitted in over 2 weeks. Maybe more because I'm in the process of moving and I cannot focus on knitting right now so it is going to wait until I get to my new home in Michigan on May 1st and then once I move in on May 1st and settle in then I can knit as long as I want, as much as I want, whenever I want and there should be very few barriers because I am going to be unofficially retired.

I work full time from home and figured I knit about 6 hours per day during the week (I get up at like 4:30) and on the weekend I knit at least 8 hours a day....I think the key is filling in the empty spaces with knitting, no matter how short. fun video!

I steal knitting time all the time and part of my secret is having it out where i can see it and grab it on a moment’s notice. Thanks for the subtle product recommendations.

I tend to use a modified pomodoro method where I knit for 20 minutes then do housework/other projects for 20 minutes. I finish a row/rnd or project task even if the timer goes off to keep things from getting too fractured, For me, this works to keep things balanced (anti-procrastination!) plus it provides a break when the knitting involves long stretches of monotonous sections. Overall I’m getting a lot more done because I’m focused.

It was a little bit of an adjustment to get used to having my work planned out for the week. Now, a couple of weeks into it, I find it comforting & rewarding! I am way ahead of schedule with gifts for upcoming holidays & making good progress on my blanket projects for #scrapfree2023! The blanket you're making is beautiful... I love the colors of yarn you're using!!!

I always assumed that more crafting would be done over the weekend but I guess it depends when you fit work in and family and friends time as well. Interesting that the weekday and the one day on the weekend was similar knitting times. thanks for doing this.

Thank you for sharing this entire journey! I discovered your channel last year and you mentioned knitting 30 min for 30 days and it sounded really good to me, I tried it and now I knit every day for 30 min! But I also spend allot of time swatching, blocking my WIPs, calculating rows :) looking for the right pattern, learning about yarn composition.... In the weekends - it's mostly my couch and my knitting 😅

So interesting! My crochet time has drastically reduced since I started my own dog daycare, it's maybe at 15 minutes to an hour on weekdays now, but there's days where I don't have any time to stitch! On weekends, I try to get in a few hours, I have two projects I need to finish for our wedding at the end of june: my wedding shawl and about 50 moss stitch coasters. It's lunchtime soon and I'm only at 30 minutes though 😅

My evenings sound the same - news, Wheel of Fortune, favorite tv shows, news, late night show, bed - and knitting or crocheting while watching tv. So 3-4 hours of yarn time. But I like the idea of knitting or crocheting as a break in the morning and afternoon. I’ve made yarn cozies using double crochet stitch. Goes pretty fast. I’m going to get that same book you are reading-it sounds similar to a series I’ve been reading- Wicked Witches of the Midwest. Cute and funny.

I have enjoyed your videos, and I realize that you have likely a pretty young following. I know that you gave up your career for which you have a college education to pursue being a knitting/crocheting social media influencer. You reach a lot of folks and everyone enjoys your podcast. But I think for some this may be hard to watch, because most folks who don’t have financial backing to to do this, and are single moms or struggling to work and start a side business. I think we just have to be cognizant of that. I would love to have a relaxing life - knit/work out every day, but right now I have to work full time in order to prepare for retirement.

Knitting versus reading when getting about the daily chores of a family is tough. I also want to just sit. I am far from reading and knitting without looking. I must look at my works. Your schedule or motivation is giving me ideas of “intentionally” setting a flexible schedule. Right now purging a 5 bedroom, 5 rooms that include kitchen, baths, living room and dinning. I do find time to take a breather for an hour in the morning. So, after taking a teenager to high school I am down the road for a 7:30 am Mass. Which ends at 8 am. Take off to Starbucks order my favorite and sit in the parking lot and read and enjoy my drink. Then return home. I am retired from the Army after 20 years and then worked for 15 years outside the home and still volunteer. So, life is open to new perspectives.
