Man, I remember when I had a plan like that, wanted to move out there so bad but never got myself motivated to do it. So glad you are making it, I'd love to hear more about this.

I really appreciate you telling your story. You've inspired me to further try to achieve my goal of working at some sort of animation studio, preferably mapa or something big involving anime. For the past 2 and a 1/2 years, I have been learning 3-D software and trying to improve my 2D art. I'm currently 16, and I really hope that I will get more education on the matter. sometime in the future, I can score a job at an animation studio in Japan.

So, do you think it is a need to live in japan to work in ánime? Maybe i could learn japanese and the writting but i don t know how a foreigner would contact with them. In your case it was a great chance, by living in the country, but if someone from another continent wants to send porfolio, what would you recommend?

Hi, thanks for sharing your story. I'm looking to find a job as a 3D animator in japan for around 6 months (I'm coming on working holiday later this year) and by the time I get there I should be n4 to n3 level in japanese. I have a good 3D generalist portfolio and am building an animation specific portfolio right now. Is it likely studios will be willing to take me on for 5-6 months given my portfolio is reasonably good, or is that too short of a timeframe for it to be worth hiring me for them? Thanks :D

If you can get a working holiday visa, maybe. A company might not sponsor the work visa of someone staying for so little time though.

@@Bonyari_Boy Thanks, I've applied for a working holiday, so hopefully thats fine. Any tips for things anime studios are specifically looking out for in my animation portfolio, is it different to the west at all?

I want to know that as a scenario writer how do I get a job in this industry and how to cntct owners/companies/ studios to volunteer i just want to enjoy my story in anime version I don't want money
@Bonyari_Boy
@Bonyari_Boy 3 года назад
Sorry, that's not possible. Anime studios do not take scripts from random 'volunteers' - they hire professionals to write them. If you want to be a scenario writer in Japan, you will need to become a professional, and you will need to be able to write in Japanese! If this truly is your dream, your first step should be learning to write scripts in your own language, in your own country. Get really good at it, build up a portfolio that shows that you are a professional, and learn Japanese at the same time if you still want to go to Japan. Only then will you be able to approach Japanese studios with your work. It's a very long and difficult path, but if it's what you really want to do, you can make it happen. Never ever work for free! (Unless it's for a charity or something.)

I am Arun. I am from India. I am at the end of my grade 12 (i am writing board exams right now) I want to become an anime animator (I decided to become one in the lockdown) I have zero experience. how can i start at this dream of mine (I am not really worried about how long it will take. I just want to do it.) tell me what courses from which universities would help me come one step closer to my goal. and what are the basic talents that i should develop to shine in this field.

how can i work as an artist at an anime studio? I'm practicing sketching and drawing manga but whats next, contact anime companies?

If you want to work in Japan, the first question you need to answer is what visa you will get, and how you will get it. The answer in the vast majority of cases is that you need a work visa, and a work visa requires a university degree, so getting a degree is the first step. In the process of getting a degree, you will build a portfolio of art, which you can send to studios. Don't feel like you have to go to straight to Japanese studios though - it can be easier to get in and get a better position if you have some experience working in your home country first. Japan already has plenty of talented 2D and background artists, so if you can apply your skills to 3D/CG projects, that will be a massive boon.
