hey I can really relate to that first part... when I was 13 (i'm 17 now), I moved from austria to the USA, and I left all my friends behind. i had some really great relationships, and i genuinely thought people liked me. two years later, we moved back to austria, and it still feels like my old friends have completely shut me off. it feels so awkward now and i only have a few friends, but I can definitely say that my social life suffered incredibly while i was away. you did much better at what i couldn't do in the USA and that was to actually try to build up new relationships in your new home (maybe it was partially because of my very lacking english as well?). i have great respect for you, and in some way or another you're a role model for me. greetings from austria
For most foreigners, it's stressful, confusing, depressing and in the end a waste if time. Tried it for two years, hated it, not doing it again unless I suffer cranial damage and lose my mind.
