@@usersdksdfg It gave her what she wanted. Her true passion. For people like her life is best spent with doing what you want. She preferred doing the things she wanted rather than living a better life. A life where doing things you dont want to is like stalling death. While others choose to live out their lives with no regret despite risking their health. Same with manga authors/artists. The industry takes so much time in their life its unhealthy, but showing people their stories and making them happy through them are their goals. If she didnt want a life like this she could work as a salaryman or another job thats safer, but she chose to pick this one because she wants to do it. This doesnt mean I support the low pay. However its really expected for them to have low pay. People these days dont use their tvs much and online streaming companies arent paying enough for these anime. An unsuccessful movie could bring down a whole series like nanatsu no taizai. My final verdict is that she wants to pursue this because this is what she wants, and that anime isn't that profitable because of the new technology.

As an American illustrator, that salary, OMG... I thought I was being taken to the cleaners here in the US. I couldn't imagine living on so little and working so constantly. My background was mostly in comics and storyboarding for games and commercials but I have also done background design for animation. I eventually stopped drawing and went to other creative outlets because I felt the stress, lack of exercise, lack of social stimulation and overall lack of interaction with the world was unhealthy. Much kudos to this young woman. But I'm wondering, with the passage of time and experience, if her opinion of her working situation will change. It's one thing when you're young, hungry and getting started but it's another when you've been in the game for a while. Obviously is not the animators fault, it's unreal they are even pulling off a decent adaptation with the little time they had. And yet I have side job online and I could like finish it in like 2 or 3 hours and get paid $600 monthly. This is just insane. No wonder animators working in the anime industry is decreasing. I think piracy plays a big role in this also if the company makes more money they'll probably increase the animators salary. Crunchyroll doesn't have all the Anime and OVAs we want to watch and to some countries it will require them a VPN, many of these anime streaming platforms are not that good. The Anime Industry should invest and make a good Anime Streaming Platform with subscriptions this way they will be able to make much more money and increase their workers salary.

40 dollars per cut!? That’s atrocious, what the hell. Yet animators here in the US create projects nowhere near as beautifully drawn and they’re millionaires. If Japan won’t take care of their animators, which it isn’t like they can’t take care of them (merch, toys, conventions, movie deals, clothing, restaurants, amusement parks, even heard of a museum opening for AoT) then I wish they’d allow the fans to take care of them. After seeing this and the conditions MAPPA has its workers in… I would be happy to donate money to them.
@akizaizayoi4763
@akizaizayoi4763 Год назад
Most likely because in the US, they could easily and heavily advertise their stuff. Pretty much everywhere in the world, you can feel the US presence such as everyday fashion (jeans itself is a US product). Meanwhile, problem with Japan is that they are very reluctant to try to sell their anime overseas. Even though they have been doing it, many shows are still unavailable to different regions. And yet they would complain of piracy.

It might sound hard, but actually thouse 'admirable' people are the reason the workconditions will never become better. If employers always find people to exploid and who wont complain, they have no reason to change. As long as people with the mindset 'money is not important' exist, they will ruin the workconditions for everyone in the industry. Woman especially are good to exploit, as they are wired by biology to care for children and suck up any inconvinience (=> they are higher in big5 agreeableness), employers exploit that fact relentless.

General_Alexus So basically you’re blaming the victim. The people with dreams aren’t the problem,it’s the people in power and the system they’ve created. To say that people fervently chasing their dreams is the source of the issue is a rude and lazy excuse. Also women aren’t “wired” with the mentality to suck up to others and “take care of their children”,that’s a stereotype we’ve been given by men to excuse their exploitation of us and you’re just perpetuating it. We’re deemed naturally weaker than men by men,thus get taken advantage of more.

That woman are more agreeable and is a fact, i wont argue against you on that. Also it would help alot if woman take it as a fact and act acordingly or at least notice that they are prone to beeing exploited because of that. I as a men have an interest in that as well, woman entering a men dominated space lowered the wages for everyone in that field consistently, i want woman to succed in the workforce, but it would be easyer for all of us, if they dont lower the wages doing it (that is the resentment men actually have agaist woman in the workforce, as we fought hard ourself to achieve some given standart to beginn with ).

I was also able to spread my positivity to those around me and people who I find sharing their problems online. Many people have been sharing their problems with me these day.I believe that I was able to talk about people's problems and was able to provide them with the proper mental state and psychology to face their problems was because of the life lessons that I was able to gain through anime. I have also started to show my emotions and opinions towards others in a more open manner than I did before, at least through texts. I used to be an introvert you see, and now I definitely feel my self changing. I can't believe they are so underpaid ! This just proves again how unfair this world is! I understand that a lot of anime projects have a shallow, fixed budget, but their workers' wages are beyond ridiculous. I'm happy that there are people like Jun who aim to make their situation better, and that despite harshness these animators still want to keep doing it out of passion -- it's immensely admirable and a little bit sad at the same time. Looking forward to the day when I myself have enough money to support the people who work on the products I consume. @Necrostrike

@@MiguelDLewis That's an excuse. The Japanese exploit their own and fellow Asian immigrants without mercy, and that has existed long before Western meddling; it's a malaise in the entirety of Asia. Japan perverts the ideals of honor, diligence, and individual sacrifice for the group. What actually happens is that those on the top extract from these virtues at the expense of those on the bottom, and since their culture heavily penalizes people who shake the boat, change is much slower to come. This is not just the Japanese. I work in biomedical sciences, and I avoid Asian bosses like the plague. One Chinese PI would pass by 6:45 am by each cubicle of his lab to check his post docs were early and didn't leave before 6pm, as well as demanding they work on Fridays. I think you're right that some higher ranking Japanese elites exploit the virtues of their subordinates, but that's been true for all cultures since antiquity. But I disagree that economic warfare from Western powers didn't play apart. The young lady being interviewed said that this current system was put in place 20 years ago. That's when the US and Europe pulled investment out of Japan, fearing their economic rise would lead to them possibly even resurrecting the Japanese Empire. Nothing occurs in a vacuum. We have to look at Japanese culture as well as the culture that rules over and dominates Japanese culture. PS: I'm not saying this to vilify Europeans.
