After struggling with acne for nearly 5 years, and trying various treatments, from drugstore to prescription (including topical retinoids, oral antibiotics, birth control, and spironolactone), I finally cleared my skin naturally, by changing my diet, healing my gut, and using more gentle skincare.
I was so amazed by my own transformation, I ended up changing careers to study cooking and nutrition, and made it my mission to teach other people how to clear up their acne, naturally, too. That was 10 years ago, and today I'm a Holistic Nutritionist who specializes in helping people with acne clear it naturally through diet and lifestyle changes.

how long does it take for a diet change to positively affect ur skin?

Usually you can start to see changes with a few days to a week, but full clearance generally takes between 1-3 months depending on current state of skin/gut/nutrition, what changes are made, how closely they are adhered to, etc. For more severe acne, it can take a little longer.

Food will help with most types of acne by reducing inflammation from the inside out. For acne caused by topical products, it is usually only temporary and should subside once the products are stopped. Adding more healthy foods to the diet can't hurt.

Check gut health, blood sugar (even healthy whole foods can cause blood sugar imbalances if not consumed with enough fiber/ protein/ fat), sources of inflammation, stress, skincare.

Most commercial peanut butters have added oils and sugars, which make them unhealthy, and potentially acne-triggering. Pure peanut butter (made only from roasted peanuts) is generally acne-safe in small amounts, unless you have a peanut sensitivity or are omega-3 deficient. Peanut butter is higher in omega-6 and lower than omega 3 compared to other nuts, however as long as you're consuming enough omega-3 in your diet otherwise, this shouldn't be problematic in moderation.
