Hi! My name is Jothi and I just completed my first year at Harvard University. As recommended by some of the comments on my last video, I just wanted to share some of my stats and advice that helped me get here :)
Of course, there is no concrete formula that will automatically get you into top schools. Just remember that each person has their own way of going about college applications, and this video goes over my experience. Hopefully you all can use some of this information too.

How did your self-study for AP CS and APES? Also, were you required to complete chemistry and biology before taking AP Bio? What are your best tips for studying for the reading part of the SATs and on getting a 1500+ score? Did you prefer the SAT or ACT? What were some extra curriculars of yours? Thank you so much sorry for so many questions haha.

To self study AP cs and do well you have to practice programming. Start with watching some youtube videos and then start doing it yourself. After that start studying the book and continue practicing. When u have an idea of how to code before starting the book, it becomes so much easier. For AP environmental science, you have to study the book take notes and memorize them, and practice past exams. Use Quizlet to help you memorize key terms.

For AP Bio I think you have to take Bio Honors and Chem Honors and have like a A/B average (I have a friend whose in chem honors and she’s planning to take AP Bio next year) So yeah and if your school offers it try and go for AP Enviro if you don’t find AP Bio quite interesting. Extracurricular do things that you find interesting and passionate about regardless you got this girl it’s great you want to be better at academics! Great job and God bless! :0)

In my school extra curricular activities aren't taken seriously by the officials and the school in general... I know it'll hurt my chances in applying cos the college will see the ec's offered but not any real awards or achievements in any of them💔💔 any ideas ?

Whichever you find easier, as long as you do one of them. The SAT may be a better fit for you if you can do harder problems in a longer period of time. You should consider taking the ACT if you can solve easier questions in a shorter period of time. Also, the ACT has an additional science section. Of course, the differences are subtle but definitely noticeable. Hope I helped.

You can take either one to apply, as long as you have one. Just like the comment above said, per your preference, choose the one you think you'll find more comfortable based on practice tests and questions.

Can anyone please tell me if learning something at home counts? For example do I HAVE to join an art club, or is it OK if I get really good at it at home? I also know 7 languages but learn only 3 at school. Rest I have learnt at home. Does that count? Please tell me, I'm just 13 and really want to get into Harvard! I'm actually from India... Also, we have some clubs at school. Can anyone please recommend what good clubs can get me into Harvard if I am interested in art, reading, writing and coding? Or can I just learn them at home? Also, I don't have AP classes in my school. What should I do?

Give certifivation tests of languages such as french or german. Do volunteer work at registered ngos and participate in ntse, nsejs and other nationals

Don't worry about not having any AP classes! Colleges/universities will find that your school didn't offer AP classes and take that into consideration. Anyways, I hope you can successfully go to Harvard! Good luck!

hi so im an indian student and we don't have honors classes here at least in my school however we can give AP's. ill be entering freshmen year soon and i have no idea what AP's am i supposed to take according to my class. are there any suggestions cause im researching on my own as an international student

I would recommend studying for AP math courses (AP stats, AP calc ab/bc) and either AP bio, chem, or physics(depending on your interest), and AP Computer Science and take the AP tests somewhere in high school, not necessarily in freshman year.

oh and yeah pls dont judge me by what rosie has to say. she one of them toe-stepper kinda ppl and then acts like it was an accident. she reached out to me about cutting herself junior year of college. like i said b4, i turned her down multiple times previously because she would always accept offers from my acquaintances. but its like, if you're seriously coming to me with suicidal thoughts, im gonna be here for you. and i was. unfortunately, a lot of my aquantainces took this as an opportunity to "get a -leg-up-on me" in the whole comradeship dealio. well, that just proves im the dude that can hold the rock under pressure, and yall are some chumps that come chomping at the bits instead of defending the ship.

what math classes did you take in high school? im in honors geometry for freshman year and im thinking of testing to precalc for sophomore year because i dont think my top colleges will like that im not in a more advanced math course.

Ahh don't worry! As long as you challenge yourself with what your school offers, you should be fine. I took geometry H in freshman year too and didn't place out of anything bc my school at the time only offered up to Calc AB anyways, so its totally fine. I personally studied Calc BC on my own time and placed into multivariable/linear algebra for my first year of college and thought it was not bad at all, but I know tons of people who are studying STEM that take the Calc BC equivalent in college too :)

Do I need AP classes like I mainly wanna work in comp sci in the future but now i dont know if there is a reason to take AP classes like History or English like wouldnt i only need things like AP comp sci, math, things like that? If you’re considering comp sci you should of course take math and science related ones first and foremost, but if you want to challenge yourself with humanities try it as well! If you think you’d burn out if you did humanities courses then just don’t take them and focus on STEM classes and extracurriculars :)
