Just remember, when it comes to not hitting something, an inch is as good as a mile. I drove gasoline tankers over 40 years in Los Angeles and San Diego and it seems like everyday was just missing things by inches😎
It‘s so incredibly nice to see someone so relatable on RU-vid! I‘m also a part time truck driver and I study music at university. Sometimes it felt like I was the only one in the world living the two lives of arts and trucking at the same time… so I felt kind of odd. So good to see there‘s people like you doing the same thing! Wish you and Andy all the best for the future, always keep enjoying the freedom of the road! 🚛💨
Wow! I could say the exact same. Thank you for sharing :) At first, I felt that trucking and studying at univeristy was an unlikely/unique endeavor, but I have grown to love both. Anything is possible!
Got my class A at 20 years old 13 years ago while going for my bachelors. Took me 5.5 years to get my degree as well. Now, having a degree is nice and all, but there’s so much money in trucking. I don’t even use my degree nor will I ever. I’ve been making 6 figures for 7 years now and about to buy my own truck. My advice, keep trucking !!!
I remember my friend telling me all the waiting he had to do when they cancelled pick ups. I saw you were driving on hwy 92. I don't miss the Bay Area hyws. I was born and raised in Fremont. I see that some of your Leadership training is shining through. So proud of you. Stay safe and keep it up!
I applaud you and the work you've put into your career. I'm a class B, people instead of products. It's not easy, but it's freedom. I refer to it as a "corner office with an ever-changing view and a company vehicle". Safe travels!
Ur channel randomly popped up on my feed 2 weeks ago, after the first video I watched I subscribed right away. Reason being is because I think female cdl truck drivers are badass! I work for a local beer distributor here in orange county and our backing skills are on point, having to back into crazy spots like bars, restaurants, liquor stores, grocery ect. Much respect to all the female truckers out there.
Driving a truck and drawing cartoons go very well together for me, as I only drive local transport for DHL Hamburg, Germany. And I'm glad that I drive turntable trailers and not semi-trailers. All the best to you, Bria!
Congratulations Bria keep it up you are a good truck driver, i am a driving instructor in Portugal and i like your way of driving and performing maneuvers, i follow your channel from the beginning where you only had 1 video and 12 subscribers 💐💐
@@DarthRevan-rp5sn I like both! They each have their pros and cons, but I really enjoy driving through the states rather than a local route. I would totally drive OTR again if I’m not taking any courses.
Really love your video's, it's really nice to see how a truckers life can be and that truckers deserve more respect. I subscribed because I want to see more of this! Good job and wishing you all the best. Greetings from The Netherlands (Europe).
I admire your ambition and "sticktoitiveness". I hauled cars decades ago and then went back to school and got training in systems and that was my future. Trucking is very hard work. Good Luck, Bria
I started CDL driving in February last year. Instead of trucks though, I started driving school buses where I was able to get my class B. Then I continue to drive school buses, then shuttle buses, and now I drive for Greyhound. Definitely not what I had in mind when getting into commercial driving, but it ain’t too bad. It’s nice to hear how others got into the industry and what drives them to stick around. Keep it up, and stay safe.
Interesting I was planing to get my B first and then get my A later. But I was thinking it’s probably best to just get the A as this opens up more opportunities. I’m trying to either drive school buses or tour buses in my area. But I’m open to driving bigger vehicles. Did you ever consider getting your A? Or are you content with your B?
@@rohenry9962 Oh for sure I think about getting my Class A, all the endorsements, and removing the restrictions for the same reason you mentioned- more opportunities. If money isn’t an issue, or you don’t mind a contract to be trained by a company, just go for the A and get it over and done with. Me personally, I didn’t have the money for truck school (and I don’t do loans, especially for something that I might’ve not liked later on), nor did I want to be anchored by a contract, so class B was the route for me. That said, as of right now, I’m pretty content where I’m at. Bus driving is pretty laid back even doing line runs, and I definitely see a market for bus driving opportunities if I ever want to hop in a bus of my own. I’m just riding the wave right now and see where it takes me, but still plan on upgrading my license in the future!
I started with schneider as well about 4 years ago and drove with them otr for 3 years. Great company to start and learn with. I'm a local driver now luckily with better pay. I like your laid back personality. ;p And great backing skills!
Great video Bria! That was the best video I’ve seen in a very long time. Thank you for that. I am a Schneider TE. Gary OC in NW Indiana. I am a 30 years experienced driver on two continents. I am an American who started in Europe. Again thanks for the video. It was an inspiring, positive video. It made me smile. I hope the best in your career. Stay safe out there!😊
congratulations!! For your journey here, nice to see your professionalism. I've been a truck driver in Brazil for over 25 years. thank you very much for sharing your experience with us
As a new subscriber Im really impressed with your channel. Your attitude is refreshing. I see some Amazon drivers who are no more than steering wheel holders. As a now retired part-time "Mud-Bucket Jockey" and gravel traveler you are really a credit to the brand.👍 Stay healthy, Be Safe, Keep the videos coming.👍🤠🚚🇺🇲
Hay you are a pro . I'm impressed to see how smoothly and accurately you back-up your trailer in a tight spot. Your story is amazing & interesting too. I completed my AZ professional training in 2011 from Humber college Toronto. And got a job invitation from Schneider Trucking. But I don't wanna be a long haul trucker. Rather I prefer to be a Shunt truck driver. I enjoy driving trailers in & out of docks.
Being vulnerable and sharing your experiences is NOT easy. RU-vid can be the Wild West. Either way, thank you for sharing this and I wish you all the best in your journey.
Just found your channel. Very cool. I'm a college graduate in trucking not using my bachelors degree. I started running teams for a FedEx Ground contractor running teams. Did that for 2 years then switched to a union LTL company. I couldn't believe how much money was left on the table from not being paid properly. My backing skills with a 53' are horrible since I mainly pull double and triple 28' trailers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing your story Bria! I’m with my first company have less than a year experience and the pay isn’t great but just trying to make it to that year mark w/o any accidents. Hoping there is more money in the future! But truckings been a good job for me love to travel and meeting other drivers. Keep up the vids! Great content.
PROPS TO YOU 😉. U STILL MAKE THE TIME TO MAKE GOOD VIDEOS ...TAKE SHOTS....EDIT ....AND SHARE. AFTER A LONG DAY OF HARD WORK. SHOUT OUT FROM CDL DRIVERS IN CHICAGO
There's nothing wrong with your going local. You still have Andy. You were smart enough to recognize burnout and do something about it 👍 If you don't ENJOY what you are doing, life is not worth working yourself sick.
I am glad to hear your boyfriend helped you develop your backing skills... having someone you can trust and talk with about what does not make sense... most of the time truckers are not good trainers.... teaching is another world / learning science is Greek
Hi Bria, enjoying your content explaining a lot and your journey, we all have backing issues from time to time, it is how it is, I'm a Truck Driver from New Zealand
Ok cool , yep was wondering about your beginnings. I'm not a trucker I do follow Supertrucker Dan , if you make the content I"ll follow along. Subscribed !
Hey do not get nervous on u turns as long as it is not on the streets or highways with traffic lights i still drive i own a old school truck a 1989 Kenworth K100 cabover so i do not get into california any more i remember when i first drove my grandfather said get in and drive and do not grind it lol he did teach me as we hauled alfalfa and livestock from my grandfather's farm in illinois to my uncles ranch in Georgia you wanna talk about nerve-racking my gramps was a stickler for that truck he made me drive at night when the scale houses are closed and back country highways when my gramps died in 1995 i stopped driving until 2009 when i got legal backing i knew but all that time away from that truck which i now own since my uncle had the truck sitting but still running my dad told him that i had gotten my cdl and was legal i had just finished working for werner on 2011 and had minor problems both shifting but the more werner let me practice on their driving range in most of their yards the better i became and now i drive flatbeds from vegas to utah az and sometimes newmexico just not as much since i do full time work in vegas but driving that kw with my caterpillar 3406B 13 speed is now just fun for me since my full time is dump trucking with that cabover on belly dumps but good luck with your trucking endeavors be safe sister driver
I have a young daughter… yes she knows her daddy is a driver , but to show her a female drives 18 wheel trucks will inspire her n make her feel cool… stay safe out there
IM ACTUALLY GETTING A SECOND CHANCE TO WORK AMAZON LOADS IN CHICAGO. 1ST TIME WAS BACK IN DALLAS 2'16... AND Co. LOST ACC. SO BACK IN MY HOMETOWN ABOUT TO START IN AN AMAZON ACC. HERE. I HEAR THE EQUIPMENT IS VERY NEW AND MAINTAIN
Hi Bria.Just wanted to say hi from a retired driver, and to tell you that you are the most beautiful thing i have ever seen behind a steering wheel, great driver,I really miss it and thinking about going back out.stay safe and KEEP ON TRUCKING!! All the way from GA!
it sounds like Andy is a smart guy, if the degree doesn't help you find a career (hopefully it does) you will always have something to fall back on, if you ever go back to truck driving after school i would recommend applying to your local utility (PG&E, SCE, Socal Gas) as a CDL Driver, you get paid hourly, its union, and most likely local
I’m actually think of getting my CDL and get a few years experience and if everything works out I’ll probably see if I’ll go as a O/O after some experience as a company driver.
In a way it make me think about me, like doing studies to become graphique designer, having a first expericne with it and then with covid no a lot of job left so decide to passe my trucking licence and i'm doing that today for 8 month now (but not in the us, in france, even if the us really make me want to go work there :) )
Girl keep it up your doing awesome! Not many girls do trucking. So seeing women out there getting it is inspiring and fck awesome in my opinion. I'm looking to get my class b soon! Im really nervous and excited 😅 Be safe out there and i wish you the best! 👊💯 P.s new subscriber✌️
Nice to meet you. I live in Jeju Island in Korea. I want to play the American Canadian Tracker. I am studying English. Jeju Island is a very small island, so it is frustrating. He is a 44-year-old man with a healthy body and wants to work for a truck driver in Canada, USA. The target is next year.Subscribe and like your video
