Hi Guys! I'm a home stager and I want to share with you how and why I got started in my business. More importantly, I want to teach you how you can start yours, on a shoestring budget, like I did. I want to share my 13 years of successes and fails, so, you can have a more successful business.
I will be doing a series of videos and get more in depth on each subject. Please leave me your comments below and I will address them in my net video.

Thanks for this video Lauri - so happy I stumbled upon it! I am still a student, I just received an Associates Degree and am trying to figure out which path for a Bachelors will prepare me best for a career in this field or a related one. I have looked into interior design but, I don't think its quite for me. It's very similar to Architecture and I am more interested in everything you just mentioned. There are many online Home Staging and Interior Decorating courses that I am interested in, just not sure of their credibility. Wondering if you have any ideas that might help! Thanks again.

Hi Lori. This couldn't have come at a better time. After working as an Accountant in the Oilfield business for 25 years, I was laid off. I've been thinking of opening my business for sometime but I too was afraid. Seeing your video gave me the inspiration to follow my passion. Great information! I’m so happy that I came across your channel. I’m in Texas and wanting to start a home staging business soon. I love decorating, home decor, thrifting, and anything home related! When you say cold calling, do you mean calling realtors and real estate companies and asking if they need a home stager? Also, do you usually stage more homes that are empty without any furnishings or homes that already have furnishings that you have to restyle? Do you ever have to paint or do any home improvements to houses that you’re staging? I’m very excited for everything that you have to teach us! Thank you for your videos! Great Tips! I stage homes as well, but I do not store furniture. I have recently sold a lot of my inventory. Do you see an advantage to keeping inventory vs the clients purchasing the items they will need to stage the home. Usually the homes I stage have too much furniture. I am trying to get jobs more often so I will check your vids to see more tips. Tfs!

Thank you so much Liliana! To be honest, I had no choice but to just jump right in. It was one of the best decisions I ever made, other than caring for my mother at home. That was my biggest accomplishments, was caring for my mother all those years with my dad. I'd do it all over again if i could.

Great information I have been thinking about this for a while, but under sure if it is something I could do. Now because I would not have a place to stored inventory I am more interested in staging new home homes or condominium properties. Have you every heard of this being done by a someone in the staging business? Would I still have to provide my own inventory?

Creative Lauri thank you! I’m just starting out, and it’s the little logistics that I need some help on. I’ll be the first one to have any sort of design based business in my family, so I don’t have many internal resources apart from family help for load ins. The other question I have is in regards to pricing, and what is a fair price to charge depending on your level of experience.

Hi Belle. I had already done that actually with four other ladies but unfortunately, one of them was stealing money from the company. So, I shy away from that anymore....ha ha. I like being on my own and having a small set of employees. It's just easier to manage and more lucrative for me.

Creative Lauri that is very unfortunate, sorry to hear. A friend and i are talking about starting our staging company. Currently She in the process of getting her real estate license but at the same time she’d like to be my partner in this staging. Not sure how that may work though. Maybe she can help bring in more clients. Im the “creative one” but she seems to have the business side. I hope this works out.
