Hey guys! I'm in holiday in Saint Lucia at the minute so wifi is a little sketchy but I wanted to bring you guys this quick hair routine with some tips on how I grew it out in about 10 months. I'm here reading the comments so let me know your thoughts :)
DEFINITELY. I never tolerated too many folks wanting to put their hands in my hair. The only one besides yself was my then hairdresser. Since I've gone natural (which has been for years)..I take care of my own hair. I'm not even cool with my relatives doing that. I've always been that way.
Such beautiful hair. So thick and healthy looking. I'm just a black guy (Jamaican) that loves seeing black/SSA women embrace their natural hair. Keep it up and rock that fro.
I do the same thing. Whenever I go through change or sad times and seek a new start, I always cute my hair. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does that
Watching this as I shaved my hair 2 years ago and it is still in twa mode. I struggle retaining length due to lack of moisture and I wear my hair out daily. Thanks for your tips i will most definitely be trying shea moisture products.
Shon9tilR You can find so many on RU-vid and natural hair blogs. The most common protective styles are crochet hair, weaves, sew-ins, wigs and many different types of braids. There is a wide variety to protective styling so you can just find what works for you. Hope this helped 💞
Love this video. I went natural for the second time 2 years ago and this time I tried to do more protective styling. I found that the whole "product junkie" thing wasn't working out for me so I did a cleanup. Now I use shea butter, argan oil shampoo & conditioner (and sometimes Herbal Essences) and an intensive mask from Boots ( it's really hard to get natural hair products here). I think using too many different products does not promote hair growth, find those that work and stick to them. Great editing and tips!
I did the same thing and glad you mentioned the product junkie. I have a cosmetology background and I have always told people to use what works for them and less is better. thanks for the post. I do the same with my face and I wear makeup. No special products, just the basics.
Raven Navera It's something that you use shear butter because I used a little desperate to get my hair some moister I didn't know if it was a good or bad thing I was just tired of my hair being like that, but it does have my hair beautiful now and you confirmed it
Your hair is sooooo soft...I can tell even by merely looking at it. I really hope I can get the Shea moisture products here in Nigeria. I would really love to try it out, I'm natural right now and I am having real issues growing it out, I have had stunted growth. And yes you're pretty.
I'm in love with that hair! I was once allowed to touch a really nice girls afro and it was so soft and beautiful. I'm just so fascinated by how different it is to my Euro wavy hair so it might sound a bit offensive to POC and that's absolutely not my intention. My wavy hair is also really dry and tangles all the time.. do you think these products could also work for mine?
I've never felt the need to touch anyone else's hair because their hair is different from mine. I don't understand it and I don't care to. I think white people are just offensive, dumb creatures who think the world revolves around them.
That's a bum note - you've misjudged the vibe. Danja couldn't have been more clear so to bring the tone down with unwarranted negativity is uncalled for.
+Mary What that person said was prejudice, not racist. And when it comes to black ppl, it is INDEED a matter of racism and rudeness, because there's a history behind it, and some of you are doing EXACTLY what your ancestors, grandparents, and/or parents did/do when it comes to black hair. Please don't compare your hair experience to black ppl's experience when it comes to hair, and ppl of ANOTHER race, touching your hair. Now, i'm not condoning that person's rude comment, but i'm also not gonna condone the when white ppl step in and say "this happens to me too, it's not all about race", when it is. Have a good day.
Thank you (from Los Angeles) I really enjoyed your tips. I'm in the transitional phase with my hair. Struggling for natural hair styles in this phase, cause I had my sister actually cut damaged/old relaxed hair off. Been in weaves and broads since Aug 2016. So yeah hair is still coming to terms with not being braided. Your video helped me to better understand what I should do and will continue to do. Thank you!
I'm in love with the growth in just 10 months......I've been growing out from transitioning and I've experienced major breakage. I would love to see a video of your braiding style.
I did my big chop 2 months go... and through test and trial trying to fine the best moisturizer for my hair ... I started using raw Shea butter and WHAT A GAME CHANGER💕💕💕
This is great! I use the exact same products and have been for 6 months since taking my braids out which broke my edges. I would have rebraided etc. By now but no! 6 months and Im working protective styles. So proud 😊
Shea butter (mixed with a bit of coconut oil) works wonders for my hair. The moisture lasts for days; I only need to apply it 2-3 times a week. It's easier to apply when blended well, almost to a cream.
you got the best hair growth video ever, because its simple and straightforward, and you use shea moisture which i love. im going to get the leave in conditioner i tend to leave that one out. im currently using the original shea moisture conditioner and the black soap shampoo.
Hi Raven! I was inspired by your video to encourage me to grow my natural type 4 hair. As it stands now I believe it's 2 inches at the back and 3 (and a half) inches at the front (maybe 1 inch at the temple areas) since I had a trimming 'mistake' 2 weeks ago at the barbers a day after taking my cornrows out which were rather tight since I had them done on the 5th of June (left them in for 3 weeks before taking them out) and I did indeed see growth but because the cornrows at the ends were very tight I ended up pulling off chunks of my hair which damaged the scalp and my scalp throughout the next few days was VERY irritated with some burning feeling. What I mean by "trimming mistake" is that the barber trimming my hair asked if I want more trimming done and I said yes. Afterwards I felt ashamed because the barber cut off more length without even telling him to stop (because I wanted my split ends which were frizzy and looked thin to be cut off too). What I'm doing right now on a weekly/nightly basis is apply the protein hair fertilizer in my hair and scalp 3 times a day and the Wild Growth hair oil 2 times a day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday = hair fertilizer (tube not the ORS brand) Tuesday and Thursday = Wild Growth hair oil) and at weekends mainly Saturday I wash my hair with shampoo/conditioner or use my Shea Moisture Strengthen and Restore Treatmemt Masque. I also moisturise my hair and scalp with a moisture oil or cream (for me thats HaiREpair Intence Moisture Cream). I know its gonna take 3 or 5 months to grow the afro I wanted but this is what I do. If you have any hair tips or suggestions please let me know! (sorry I dont have a photo of myself or any videos uploaded as my channel is ONLY for watching videos and posting comments)
That part where you said you’d be crying when it comes to parting the hair? That’s me. My hair doesn’t EVER come out soft, even after a deep conditioning. It’s just tight and dense and thick and hurts and snaps whenever I pull it apart
monabrown101 she's the reason I'm so in love with crochet braids. Never wore them until I saw her videos. Now I wear them like every few months. And I always get compliments
You are TOO REAL...TOO PERFECT! Even though I make my own products, this is my basic hair care regimen too...*THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT LADIES* (BUT to each it's own) and THANKS for letting people know they don't have to be OVER-THE-TOP to maintain they're hair...which a lot of people doing these vids do!
That's what I've been doing for months, twist or braid and wear my wig, which was ok but I was so ready to let hair breathe. Only problem now, she's stressed when it's not braided or covered. Constant combing and heat is too much but I know it needs to be out a bit. I am being vigilant and moisturizing and sealing 1-2x a day. Seems to be ok at moment
Lil note: You said "crazy a couple of times"Just because your hair isn't styled it doesn't mean its crazy. You're hair is gorgeous. Nothing negative about it :) Cool vid
Hi Raven, I really enjoyed your video and just liked & subbed. I cut/shave my head for emotional and cleansing purposes also! I just did it the end of June. No wigs for a bit. Sometimes I just need a break. But I miss my twists now after seeing yours! Your hair is gorgeous! I'm using hair growth recipes now and watching my diet better. I'll make a note to purchase the Shea Moisture products soon too. I'm glad I found you today. Thank you for sharing and stay blessed 👍🏾🙏🏾😊✌🏾🌹
The One Thing I Care About Is Healthy Hair; And Girl You’ve Got It!! Thank You For The Share!! I Hope My Hair Will Become Healthy, If Not Healthier Than Yours!! Your Hair Is Beautiful!! Your Hair Rocks!!
I can totally testify, I use the Shea moisture castor oil Leave-in conditioner and it is the best! It's absolutely amazing. Helps me retain moisture in my hair. I cut my hair in May and I'm proud of the progress made so far. Hey girl, please how often do you wash your hair?
You look lovely au naturel. Love your video, very informative. Shame you can't just leave your hair loose as it is - some people can get away with it, others can't! Please let me know if you have high or low porosity hair. This helps me to know if the products you like to use would suit me. I love Shea Moisture products too. They have a great range for all types of hair. My hair is high porosity and gets very dry, very quickly. Learning how to lock in moisture has made a HUGE difference.
Hello, I love natural beauty. When our creator gives it to you ,you should rock it, appreciate it. Let people and yourself know who you are. I feel you when you put your wig on and took it back off, like NO I just want to appreciate my own hair and let it breathe. God Bless thanks for sharing.
Just watched your video - so glad I saw it. Simple and not too time consuming - not everyone wants to spend several hours on their hair every week. Recently my hair has become thin and dry so have started to moisturise, moisturise and moisturise to see if this will help. Have been wigging it since Christmas but don’t feel that the ends were being moisturised properly as cane row was under the wig. Thanks for your tips and defo subscribed. Ps wish I was brave enough to chop but scared it won’t grow back!😩
LOVE THIS! I have my regime down pack but I'm trying to figure it out for my daughter. ..... I tried this method and let's just say NO TEARS nor TEARS! 👍 her hair is super long and we got through it. Thanks!
Yes. Natural hair is the best. I will have to invest in Shea Moisture products. I've used Cantu products for years, but I find my hair needs more moisture.
loved your video. I am like you in that i cut my hair when I break up, get a new job, or just need a change. I am addicted to the creamy crack so I don't stay natural for long. I am usually natural for about a year before the creamy crack starts calling me. I think I keep going back because i do not know what to do with my hair at the in between stage. Then there is years of " you need to have straight hair for work" mantra on automatic in my head. Anyways thank you for your video, i enjoyed it.
Great video! I recently cut my hair to the scalp because I get frustrated when it grows because it's hard to manage -- but I'm going to try those products you recommended.
Like video, jist wanted to add......Care free curls, wave nouvesi, SCurul or any other jehri curl solution will keep hair moist and grow. Whether in an afro, braids or any other style. Use the amount that your hair drinks up daily. I do like shea moisture for washing and conditioning, but I find most any works with the activator/ moisturizers that I mentioned above. Wash according to buidup
Loved this video! I can relate sooo much, I love my natural hair but the maintenance is on another level! Have fun in St Lucia. I just got back and it was amazing ✨☺️
Love your informative video! I love the way you look in your natural hair as opposed to the wig. Anyway, I use the same products you are using but am battling slow hair growth due to thyroid issues. My hair is growing, but at a very slow pace. I hope to get this corrected soon.
Well this made me feel much better about my hair. Because I cut all my hair off in 2011 and then when it start growing I had a such hard time combing it but now it is so soft feels like cotton. Which kinda had me scare because I always had to fight with my hair. So the products that I am using must have something to do with it. And I always wear mine in a 2 string twist also. Thanks for this video.
