To be honest, you can be glad that you're working in a de-pot right away. In smaller pots with the amount of water you give at the beginning, every young plant will drown. With the small seedling, you are acting as if the roots have already reached the bottom of the pot and are therefore watering too much. As I said, you're lucky that you're working in a large de-pot, otherwise you should learn how to water properly.

@@Basementganja question for exactly that reason. We have a unique problem here. We're only allowed 50g of finished product (total flower and/or hash), but up to 3 plants. Of course police couldn't check easily, but I'm trying to stay within legal guidelines. No need to push a new law, especially since I don't smoke and I'm just growing for experience and to check out different strain properties for now. How would you go about maximizing quality while somewhat minimizing yield? I've been thinking about going Cola only, but I'm not too sure about how smart it is to put all your eggs into one basket like this. What would you suggest doing? Of course I'm running a low wattage light, as there is no point going crazy for a tiny harvest.

Hey those seedlings shells come off sooooo much easier if you spray them with a bottle gently an hour before. They basically come with lube and get really slimy once you let them soak for a little while. Also amazing to see how much water the big pot soaks up during the first couple days. I usually water once for about a week after transplanting. But I am not doing autos and use more pots, so less dry soil introduced at once. Really love the training part, but I suspect you might be overwatering slightly by the looks of your plants after the light ad. Try to water those big pots more when transplanting and dont focus only around the stem. In fact many let that center area dry out from time to time and water around the outside to promote root growth. Anyways looking great again afterwards! Brooooo 20:06 that is reaaaal torture to watch and hear :D Removing those big powerhouses that help growing all those branches and roots and dont really cover anything is to much for me! Training is cool but leave the plants something to work with If you are going for Canna Bonsais sure but I thought you are going for yield and quality?

At first I was a bit shocked at how much water you used for the seedling, as I keep reading about the dangers of overwatering. But I guess the success proves you right...
@Basementganja
@Basementganja 5 месяцев назад
I find that you can cause overwatering from too much quantity, but only when it takes way too long to dry out. When I'm ramping up my dosage, I like my seedlings to dry out between 1-2 days, early veg plants every 3-4 days, and I love when blooming plants take 5-6 days to dry (because I'm lazy). I think that overwatering is most commonly seen when people saturate the soil too soon, while it's still wet. Seedlings that have too much water, and remain too wet, become susceptible to damping off. But they're normally big/strong enough once past day 6.

Hey i just wanted to share a method that i use to make sure i dont have new growth pointing away from the canopy (growing down). When i do my FIRST LST, i dont bend downwards in a + fashion, i bend it down in a x (in an angle, you will have to soften the branch up a little), so all the future 2 nodes that grow will have a 45 degree space to grow up.

Do you run the humidity high for the seedling or have it low for the flowering plant? I never run my humidity over 45-50 for flowering and 60-70 for seedling/early vegg. I have used Spider Farmer gear from day 1 and highly recommend them as a company. Great customer service. Thank you again for another great video. :)

Awesome! I appreciate that, thank you! My humidity tends to be between 10-20%. I don't adjust it. I feel that the vapor would just get sucked out from the inline exhaust-fan. I have a de-humidifier. I'll only use it if the humidity gets above 60%, but this is rare for my home. I'll be testing out a new inline fan with a smart-controller soon. We'll see if can get the humidity up to at least 50%. Although, I don't think that I'd want to run the humidifier when a plant is in bloom.

My light is an SF4000 on 24/0 schedule, set to 75% (333watts). It's hung 44" from the soil line in my 3x3 tent, to give 600-650ppfd for my seedlings. Vegging plants are around 700-750ppfd, and blooming plants after week2 of bloom are at around 1000-1100ppfd, at 20inches. The distance you need your light, will depend on the light you have (style of light/led chips used), the power it runs at, and the size of space that it's in.

I'd be interested to hear why you do so much training on an auto. To me it seems easier to control exactly how a plant grows if it's a photoperiod. Don't autos sometimes respond badly to the non lst trainings you do so early such as cutting away the big fan leaves which would have helped with photosynthesis? I'm not an experienced grower this is just stuff I've read and heard online.
@Basementganja
@Basementganja 6 месяцев назад
I agree that it is easier, and more laid back to grow photoperiods, where you have more control.. but it is entertaining to go along for the ride of an autoflower, and be able to have the flexibility of having seedlings and blooming plants in the same space. I haven't had much issue with autoflowers responding badly to any training. Healthy/vigorous plants will continue on, as if nothing happened after a training session. I don't like my plants to have too much overlap. Fan leaves can be like umbrellas and block light from reaching your bud sites or nodes of growth. I also like to remove the larger fan leaves that are further away from the light, or being shaded by branches. I feel like these leaves are consuming more energy than they are producing, and it's good to keep your plants growing progressively.

@Basementganja
@Basementganja 3 месяца назад
I always like to grow new strains, so I don't have much knowledge about the stability of a certain strain. For example, I've grown two Pineapple Express's; One yielded 60g dry, the other yielded 325g dry, with similar training. Window-plants are fun, but they don't receive full light for as long as they do in my tents, or outside in the middle of an open field. You can expect slower growth, with longer internodal distance. It can still be a great way to start getting experience, but you can't expect big yields.

If you're growing a photoperiod, you can clone the top. Put it into water as soon as you top. Then plant it into very moist soil inside of a plastic-solo cup (with holes in the bottom). Put a Ziploc sandwich bag over the top of the clone, to be a humidity dome. 2 weeks later, and she should be starting her roots, if she survives.

I think it's best to plant in the center of the pot, that way the roots have equal distance to grow, before being restricted by the edge of the pot.

I notice that early on you spread the water dosage out from the trunk. Is that to promote root health and growth by root searching for water

Do you ever use nutrients or just water all the way till harvest?

is that 650 ppfd at 100%? Was the light dimmer for seedling stage?
@Basementganja
@Basementganja 2 месяца назад
I keep my light at the same settings throughout the entirety of the grow (dimmed to 80%, and hung 40inches from the soil. I aim for 600ppfd for seedlings, 750ppfd during veg, and 1000-1100ppfd (20inches away) after week2 bloom. This will all depend on what light you have. Take a look at your PPFD map, to get a better idea of your intensity range of your light. You can calibrate a light-meter app like photone to the PPFD map for your light, and get more accurate data

she dries fast at the first waterings because your soil is not at capacity but since you actually progress too fast and water daily it kind of cancels it out... Though as an agronomist I'd keep the whole pot moist and progress water slower. For example, when you raise to 1.5L, I'd be watering like 300ml, but since your soil is actually dry, the excess spreads out evenly, starting to raise overall moisture.

14:46 dont cut them, use cardboard circle with a hole in the middle, on top of the soil, plant in the middle/hole - to have ur leaves resting on it, but leave the hole big enuff so you can water, maybe have to pour slower. :)

I grow a lot like you. I use float method in shot glass with peroxide to germinate. Then into finally pot with autos. I use lucky dog. Around enough nutrients for one month per gallon. So 4 gallons works for most autos. Photos I start feeding about month 3 in tote. I lst early. Branches growing straight after 1st I top for clones usually 3 per plant. The first outer branch I use like a mainline and inner I remove. I remove most downward facing branches till 12th node. Around when they show sex. The first clone I use to sex plant. Its quicker than waiting for plant to show sex. Most autos and fast photos show sex quick. Last auto took 36 days to show sex. I use a rectangular 16 qt/4 gallon tote with plant to one side. And use rim of container to tie plant. Last auto I feel I hit it with too much light at first. But have raised my 8 bulb t5 470w in 2x4 too max height so have good 18 inches for canopy growth with container. I also have some far red and low blue for extra light while flowering autos in veg. But need to run 21/3 with led panels going. Too much dli again. I lollipop bottom 12 inches before putting photos into flower.

By far, most comprehensive video on LST. Are you pH adjusting your water?
@Basementganja

Thank you!! No, I didn't pH the water. The next video for this plant is labeled e6. I start adjusting the water's pH, when I start mixing nutrients.

Hey guys im having trouble knowing exactly what distance i should have my 400w led, i currently have it 35cm on my 14 day old og kush, is it too much?
@Basementganja
@Basementganja 5 месяцев назад
What's the model/brand of your light? The light should have a ppfd map that gives you intensity values at different heights. You'd want about 580-650 ppfd for seedlings/young plants. What light schedule are you running?

@@Basementganja im a beginner i have no idea, all i know is it’s a 400w led and i have it on 24hs

@@Twist3dKiid you'd probably be safer running it around 80cm away. It's hard to say without knowing more about the light. You're welcome to add me on discord if you'd like to send some pictures, I might be able to more accurately help you out.

It's 9guage plastic-coated wire, that's been cut and bent into stakes. I got my 100ft roll from HomeHardware's chain-link fence section, for $18cad. You can make 100 stakes from this.
