DITTO!!!!! I DO NOT and Cannot stand that silky straight, flatty flat, down on the scalp high school hair anymore. I used to obsess about having that all the time. I do my own hair, no more salons since 2015 and that’s when the length retention took off, fast. I love leaving some texture--slight poof if you will-looks healthier that way, in my option, very youthful and fun appearance in my opinion, also very long. Reaching my bootang at this point. I use a Revair dryer, no pulling traditional hair dryers through my hair anymore. I press on 370-400 and my hair loves that.

Didn’t even think of just blow drying straight and using flexi rods. I’ve gotta try that one time

I agree with you when you say that using the babyliss often would most likely give you heat damage. I’ve used titanium and ceramic on my hair and hands down that titanium will ruin your hair. And also only doing it monthly. Unfortunately not all scalps like mine can handle monthly washing. So I found myself having to wash my hair weekly to biweekly and ended up with heat damage. But I love watching your journey and thank you for sharing your tips just in case I decide to give heat training a try again in the future 😊

Such good information on the irons, and I like a bit of texture also, never giving up any of the kink or my ability to have my hair curl back up

Hi! 😊😊😊 I’m super happy that I found your channel. My hair had been through so many different things, but I am back to wearing my hair heat straightened/heat trained, and that’s the journey that I plan to stick with for the rest of my life. It is what keeps my hair and scalp it’s healthiest overall. I had bern looking for new naturals to follow that wear their hair best trained or heat straightened, so I am super thankful that I ended up coming across your channel. You have a very wonderful, warm and inviting, very down to earth personality, that I absolutely adore. I greatly enjoyed watching this video from beginning to end. Your hair looks so incredibly beautiful. I definitely wish you much continued success with your hair journey for sure. Best wishes to you and I sincerely hope you have a fantastic weekend! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Do you exercise? If so, how do you keep it stretched? Will you go back in and straighten if need be before you wash again?

I am terrified of using the flat iron so I will stick to being a blow out natural (at home), but does it help with growth and length retention? I have had my first a few days ago…

In one of your older videos you mentioned washing your hair every two weeks, did you change to monthly for length retention reasons? I’m so glad I found your channel your hair is gorgeous and you make great content.

I use to wash every 2 weeks when I was relaxed. I wash monthly mostly because wash days take forever and I don't have the patience to wash my hair every 2 weeks anymore...lol. Thanks for watching and supporting! 🙂

Currently on the straight natural journey, my biggest issue is I will be lucky if I can get my hair to 10 days without my scalp screaming at me or my edges are lucking crazy because they are of course the most exposed. So I end up having to wash every 7-10days which means at least 3 presses a month. I haven't got any crazy heat damage but I wish I could make my hair go longer without washing. However, I have had a sensitive scalp for a long time and I don't put anything on it because of that reason. Your hair has come a long way and looks great❤ thanks for the update 😊

Try some lavender oil diluted in sweet almond oil: 3%/97%. Section your hair, dip a cotton swab in the oil and gently wipe down your scalp, especially your "hot spots". You can use a cotton ball to dab off any excess. This is different from any sort of oiling and massaging. You want to treat this oil solution as a sort of cleanser/ astringent. The cotton ball/swab keeps you from over applying, and helps remove excessive build up. The sweet almond oil soothes dryness and cracks (much like with dry hands and feet), and keeps the LEO from burning the heck out of any irritated spots lol. The LEO is a proven antifungal and antibacterial oil. Basically, it kills off all the scalp nasties that create other problems. Just be sure to do a patch test first, on your wrist, and then a dab or two on your scalp. I'm a "stretched and protective styling" natural lol. But I think there's a lot of cross over in our preferences. I wouldn't do this more than once to stretch out wash day, though. I think after this, it's definitely wash day lol. You're body's telling you for a reason. Lastly, if you're using direct heat 3 times a month and that concerns you, maybe make the middle time a blowout only wash day with rollers or flexi rods, twist outs, or French braids? You'll have more texture until next wash day, but there's lots of cute up-do's you can do until then too.

Hi! You can but it's probably better to gradually cut the relaxed ends if they're damaged.

Roxanna, your hair is gorgeous! No need for the flat look. I am at the beginning of my heat training journey after being natural since 2010. Your videos have been extremely helpful. I still trying to master the technique. Exercising on the treadmill can also be a challenge, however I am determined to balance that as well. I know you go to the salon twice a year for trims, do you dust between those times?
@RoxannaRenea

Wow that’s awesome! I have sworn off all heat after my ends got heat damaged 2 years ago when a professional stylist flatironed my hair 😅 Maybe one day I’ll give a heat style another try but I mostly wear my hair in it’s natural state so the heat damage was very noticeable.
