I've been wanting to get into peel and stick bc I can't commit to anything but I don't want to settle with boring walls until I find "the one". I'm so happy I found your channel! You're so awesome!
Why didn't I see this before I installed mine?! Mine still turned out great, but this would have saved me SOOOOO much time and energy! Well, now I know!
I have a small question , once the wall paper is on the wall and your using one of those exacto knives to cut it, do you find that the sharpness of the knife goes through the wall paper and cuts your walls?
I have been a professional paperhanger for decades. I like your tape trick here. I get a lot of calls from people who bought peel and stick online and then find that no pro paperhangers in their area will hang it because of several problems with ALL of them. Problem #1 The material is great for backs of cabinets or stair risers and peel and stick gets the Amazon 5 star reviews for those situations. Then read the 1 star reviews and there are lots of photos of the stuff falling off the walls. The reason is that most walls have chalky or powdery flat paint and if you have ever tried to put a band-aid on skin that has talcum powder on it you will know exactly why this material falls off the wall. Real wallpaper uses a wet paste which and makes hanging much easier and better in the long run (when you properly prime the wall.) Problem #2 The stuff is made of vinyl and it is unbacked like traditional wallpaper with either paper or cloth. That backing is stable and helps to keep the pattern properly synched all the way down the sheet. When I used to hang this stuff (I don't anymore) the pattern match would wander off because of this and the end result was awful. Problem #3 People order online and when the material arrives they are surprised that the stuff looks cheap and shiny. Most of my customers want the look of paper which is matte in finish. Problem#4 I don't know of one seller of peel and stick who accepts returns. There is no warehouse to return it to since all of it is digitally printed and each sheet/roll is custom. You don't like it? You're stuck with it. Problem #5 People who rent buy it because they advertise that it leaves no residue on the wall. Check out the Amazon 1 to 3 stars and people complain that this is not so and they had to pay or lose their deposit to get the walls fixed when they move. Problem #6 If you do the math most of this peel and stick is much more expensive per square foot than a lot of the real wallpaper sold
I really love this wallpaper! It really gives a young, stylish, and fresh feel to the room. 💖 Do you have a set of step-by-step videos or a small course sharing your knowledge on how to apply the peel and stick wallpapers and tiles properly and which companies are your favorites?
