Charlie, I'm 66 years old now, but I always wanted to be a brick layer. But ended up being a plasterer and worked in many countries. I ended up in Australia, not working now as all my joints are stuffed I wish you had been around in my younger days as you are such a smart young man Charlie your vlogs are great and you have a great sense of humor If I get back to the UK I would like to meet you for a coffee Have a great day Jeff
Interesting vid - thanks for posting! I was a hod carrier and you have to be constantly planning ahead of the bricklayers. Nice to get a bit of appreciation 🤪
Hi Charlie, this is the first video I have seen from you and I enjoyed it so much that I have subscribed to your channel. My 13 year old son has had a knightmare at school and luckily has landed on something he really likes and has changed him so much as a person. He does brick laying 3 days a week then 2 maths and English so he gets his gcse grades to enable him an apprenticeship. I wish I could send you a pic of his very first pillar and arch . I am so proud as a father. I have sent him a link to watch you and hope you give him inspiration and maybe a mention . Marley Richardson is his name from county Durham . Thanks Charlie and keep up the great work 👍
Hi Charlie, you post great videos, very educational to all people in the the trade! Plus also people thinking about becoming a bricklayer! Keep up the good work!
Hi you two, It is to see you back on your channel today, I wish you two, Tom ,family , and friends all the best for the week ahead, Lots of Love to the camera lady❤❤. Lots of Love Ianwood ❤️❤️❤️
These look a really good build, do you still have to clean your cavity’s even tho they get cavity filled after? We do on our job pisses me off there 50mm cavity’s
It's really good to see someone acknowledge just how valuable a good hoddy is, worth their weight in gold when you find a good one. I'm a retired bricky. You can thank my generation for bringing back the profiling tech, clamps etc from our Auf Wiedersehen adventures in Germany. Tidy job young man, you'll make a lot of money but take my advice: get out before you're 55 and the osteoarthritis gets you. Good luck.
I live on Hawaii island and we don't have actual sand. WE have #4 sand which is shite. Any idea how I can make it more workable? Do you guys add washing up liquid as retardant?
If i remember right years back in the U.S. one had to lay at least 125 blocks if he was doing leads ,350 blocks in the wall or 1500 brick a day to keep from getting layed off. At least that was the way it was at the company I worked.
Some brickies crashed into my car while it was parked. left a note and gave me 800 on the spot to not go through insurance. stand up guys and good earners!
Brilliant buddy they founds look a joy lovely brick. Foundations like would mind doing all the time of course nice conditions haha. Effortless buddy your a credit to bricklaying. 😎🤟
Yeah with a tolerance of about 5cm. Bet if you got the dumpy level out it would be all over the place. My site has a tolerance of 0.2 so you can’t work that fast
He says how "I" layed 400 block. He fails to mention how a full crew is necessary to stage material, mix a shit ton of mud or muck as he calls it and provide anything he may need so that can stay busy laying. Without a good crew tending for the mason not much would get done working alone. That's why I don't like when he says "I" did it.
Certificate 4 in hod carrying hahaha , and is it the engineers that require you to lay frog up Charlie ? , i was a time served bricky from Derby and we never ever layed frog up it takes to much muck ..
The NHBC and all the supposed brains of construction are of the mindset now that you must lay frog up to fully fill the frog with mortar and not leave voids. Logic says to me that any moisture making its way into the upturned frog will leach out anyway. The cost to the large builder of wasted sand and cement must be immense over thousands of dwellings not to mention the environment.
My father is near retirement age, laying blocks and bricks all his life, he'd still lay more than that in a day nothing to write home about lad or even shout about
Bet he won't have too. Got to get it while you can get it older guys that can't keep up anymore need to accept their fate focus on being the best they can be not worrying about what's somebody else can or can't do.
The background music well off putting! Sounds like an advert open in another tab or something. I had to check I didnt have 2 videos playing! Any way Charlie. We all know its impossible to lay that in a day! I cant so You cant. Nah. cant be done. LOL
