It's great to hear you love your job, so important for your state of mind to do something you enjoy 👍I'd swap my desk job for outside work where you feel satisfied in a heart beat
Ben Kimber I’ve invested in a tool belt, and put a trowel mate magnet on it with a tape holder and hammer loop. And I’ve noticed a big difference already! No looking around for your tape and hammer 👍
FromBar mate it’s getting ridiculous, I start blaming everyone else spend at least 30 mins a day looking for bits. I’ve ordered the belt, Stanley dump pouch with hammer loop also a second loop for bolster. Just need to find the trowel mate, everywhere I look is sold out 🤷🏻♂️
Tattoos are so addictive, I had mine so I could cover them while working for British Gas but since leaving there yup my neck etc etc etc. Keep up the hard work Charlie and of course must not 4get Amy!. Stay safe everyone 😷... Gazza
Nice one Charlie bit windy today we were doing block on the flat so all good defo had it easier than you. I will be in shorts until the clocks change. Have a good evening with your little girl and enjoy your Sunday.👍
Hi Charlie mate , been in the game 40 yrs now hopefully another 5 or so before I hang me trowel up . Noticed all your work is mixer muck up in the north east its all delivered to site ready to go . Is that just a southern thing . Enjoying your videos mate keep the faith.
I'm wanting to swap my office job for an outdoor hands on job, bricklaying is drawing me in and I'm seriously considering going for it. Can any brickies on here share how much they take home?
What belt you use bud? Thinking about giving this a go, the amount of time I loose my pointer is a joke. I blame the Hoddy every time but he swears he hasn’t touched it 😂
Thats a normal belt made to use on site but you get yourself some holsters for your hammer , bolster and that goes into your belt ,check them with screwfix
Forgot to say, go a size smaller to get more benefit. Then the heat is closer to you. If you are a large get a medium because with makita the sizes are generous. Bear it in mind
@@ozzyefc44 18v. It’s called a vest, but it’s actually a body warmer. Everyone is making them now. Check out RU-vid . I find it useful for long walks with the dog when it’s freezing
Hey bro videos are awesome and congrats on the sub count going up like a rocket. Quick question why do yall use a cement mixer and not a paddle mortar mixer?
Bricky Practically every small builder in the uk and Ireland has one or more of those belle mixers . The paddle mixers that you use for mortar wouldn’t be readily available over here . These belle mixers serve a dual purpose as both a concrete mixer and a mortar mixer . The one Charlie is using is known as a half bag mixer ( when cement came in 50 kg bags .all the cement comes now in 25 kg bags) you can get them bigger than that one with petrol or Diesel engines or electric motors .they are sized a bag bag and a half , 2 bag mixers etc . I bought a new ( to me ) second hand one off me local tool hire shop recently 220 euros he sells them off on a regular basis . They are very reliable rarely give trouble .
@@brickbybric thats awesome. Thanks for the info. I have. 3 bag mortar mixer that can mix 3 36 kg or 80 pound bags of mortar. We only mix the mortar for 2 minutes really. I have used the cement mixer and they seem to take longer to knock up a bag plus they spill out while you are mixing them. I used it when mine had some broken belts lol. The gas engines can be a pain and the electric motor is definitely nice. Didnt know if there was a reason for using them. I know they are less expensive cause my mixer costs $3000. I see those for about $1000. Thanks brother hope you are well!!!
Bearded Bricky using the belle mixer to mix mortar is probably a bit more tricky than using the mortar paddle mixer . The paddles , I presume don’t allow the material to stick to the walls of the mixer . You have to set the type Charlie is using up fairly level if you don’t the stuff will get stuck at the back of the drum if it’s leaning back and the stuff will spill out if it’s leaning to far forward . If I’m doing say a 5 sand to 1 cement mix . I put in enough water with plasticizer ( plas) for 2 buckets of sand then the bucket of cement ,at this stage the mix will be a fairly thick soupy mixture then I’m drying the mixture to the consistency I want with the next 3 buckets of sand ( I may have to add a little bit more water) plas reduces the amount of water you need in the mix but you have to give the mixer time to do its job which is to introduce air into the mix with the aid of the plas and get the mortar to the right consistency. You’ll often see fellas trying to rush the process along by adding to much water .
@@brickbybric I agree. We don't have plasticizer here in the states but I did use one and I liked it I just could mix more than a bag at a time. It was a little slower. Here with the paddle mixers you can jam it up and lose an arm. Sadly the common sense of not putting your arm in the mixer has not been passed on to some and they have been seriously injured. With the cement I can see someone getting a good wallop with a shovel from time to time but no losing of limbs😬😬😬😬
Charlie, I have just discovered something important which you have not told your viewers. I did not realise until just know that it appears to be impossible to lay bricks or blocks unless you are heavily inked. In the list of tools you should include the contact details for bricklayer certified tattooists. Trade secrets huh? No wonder I am shit at it ;-) Loving the channel!
Why do you put the cement in first,we always put 10 shovels of sand, half cement, let it mix,and repeat d same, does it make any difference, just curious,🇮🇪🇮🇪👍
Charlie I like the way you boys talk lmao I'm from the United States of America and I'm 35 years old im a fucking monster on the brick let's connect were are you from?
