1. Define your goal with absolute clarity. 2. Consume information from people who are achieving the goal the best. 3. Practice what you've learned, optimize your ideas, keep testing and testing. 4. Iterate until you've gotten a successful groove applying the ideas you've learnt, tested and improved over time. 5. Keep learning and adapting.

How Sam Ovens recommends learning a new skill: ✔️Define your end-goal ✔️Break down the end-goal into steps ✔️Find out what do you need to know to do those steps ✔️Find company/person that is good at doing those steps ✔️Learn the belief system they possess that enabled them to master those steps. This is accomplished by learning what they learned (they will probably share this with you freely, such as books they read, documentaries they watched, etc)

Summary: Don't learn from professors, academics, learn from those who have done what you want. 1. Define the goal 2. Break it down its actions needed to achieve the goal 3. The knowledge that you have in need to the define the goal and define its actions 4. Once you know what knowledge you need to know 5. What company is doing it 6. Who within the company is doing it 7. What is that persons belief system and philosphy 8. Really understand that and write it down 9. How did they acquire that. Find their sources and materials. 10. Read these things (say 4 or 5 books) 11. Now we really understand in depth how this person built their belief system 12. Don't just copy their system, apply your unique situation to it 13. Now you have the belief system, solid foundations (from good sources), a philosophy, a POV, principles, strategy and tactics 14. Act Recommended resources: Netflix's Culture Deck, Netflix People Leads' 'Powerful'

Hiring quality over quantity is most important to scaling any business properly
@BillyWillson
@BillyWillson 5 лет назад
Amazon, Walmart, McDonalds. They all put systems in place that anyone can do. It’s better to create systems that anyone can do to scale vs hire the highest quality. The highest quality are much more expensive and ego has a large factor, then you’ve also go the inconsistent human factor. I definitely agree with you but I think it’s a combination of both :) The higher quality is 100% necessary for the executive team. But quantity can also be important, unless you get robots/automation to do the work for you. So in reality both can be important. Neither is better than the other. Gotta have the bias poles balanced out if you know I’m talking about haha.

1. Define your end goal 2. Define the actions necessary to achieve that goal 3. Define the knowledge required to take those actions 4. Prioritize the things first you need to know 5. Find the master in that field. It may be people in a company doing this 6. Find the belief system of that master. Find the raw materials for their belief system. 7. Likewise find for 3-4 people, merge it and form your own belief system. Don't copy. It won't work 8. Likewise for all things you need to know, find the belief system. These individual pieces are called building blocks like in lego system. 9. Then merge all the building blocks to form your own theory to do all actions required to achieve that goal. You need to spend lot of time in forming the theory before taking action 10. Then do the actions. You will get the result. 11. Theory + Practice × Continuous refinement = Best Knowledge. Without either one is useless Knowledge

Suggestion for next video: To be able to learn how to learn, you need to set a long term goal. Lots of people lack the ability to think about what their goal is. I think this is a large bottleneck for people who have a generic goal of financial freedom but have difficulty outlining a vision. Perhaps make a video dedicated to solving this problem. So a video on 'How to know what you want to achieve' or something along those lines.

One point: I get that you're not a fan of universities, Sam. But if you have a PhD in a subject, you've actually DONE the work to learn it. You do know it. If you have 7 PhDs-worth of time studying it, you are the world expert. Nobody knows the subject better. However, I totally see your point that reading is not the same as practicing and really learning a subject. Good video, glad my 'philosophy' of finding the best in a subject, copying them is not too far off. Will start to improve this process, as laid out in this video. I love learning how to learn.
