I would really like to see you step out of your comfort zone and do a DIY reef tank. I really want to start one and I'd like to see what you come up with.
if you ever do another big aquarium (200gallon +)...could you do a reef tank ? I think that would be tons of interesting learning and you could showcase how to light them properly in order to generate growth in the tank.
This could not be better timing!! I'm about to purchase my first large aquarium at 265 gallons, inspired by you and need ideas on lighting, love your videos as always Joey!
I love that you're showcasing so many aspects of the hobby with the gallery. And not just keeping things static. What do you do about the nerite eggs? They're like cement.
You are able to change florescent lights to led by removing the ballast and simply rewiring the tombstones to be one side in, one side out. I recently changed 26 in my garage for 278$
Joey, You should use those google/alexa smart outlet switch, just search it up! with those, you can wirelessly turn on and off, set timer schedule, etc. of anything in your fish room from anywhere, as long as the smart outlet switch is connected to wifi and your phone is connected to internet. (It uses your phone as the remote, you dont have to have a google home or amazon's alexa for it to work) It's pretty cool. Id imagine you can use it for more things than just lights. maybe you can even link it up to pumps in case of flooding. I've had that wireless remote switch you showed in this video and the controller failed on me eventually.
Hi Joey, wanne let you know, I wait every evening for your video to watch, so I can go sleep. No good night without it. So now good night from Germany 😘
Lights are awesome , but fish don't like very bright light .👌 Best part those closeup aquarium and fish shots and background music for that is awesome... 👍
Joey, if I may call you that? You are an inspirational person. Not just how you turned your life around, but the massive knowledge base that you share! Kudos. You are my fish guru. I turn yo your videos to learn everything. Can’t say enough how much I enjoy them, and of course, learn from them.
This is one of the best videos I've seen on your channel joey. I liked the end when you shut the lights off and showed the tanks. You should definitely do a feeding video like that, when it all flowed together so semlessly. That ship is cool to...
The shoplights are a great Idea. I just checked a price on a 6-pack of lights/fixtures, and thought they would be great for my combo orchids and fishtanks.
It's nice to know your not mad for having three tanks, I was keep getting told I was suffering from MTS but now I know I'm not. MTS = Multiple Tank Syndrome 🐠🐟🐡
Hey Great video! However for the smaller pond with the Bass, Why not put an upside down Aquarium on top of it? It might help with the shyness of the fish. Also less place too cover up so they can't Jump out and u can make the Pillars that hold the upside down aquarium into something were the Catfish can hide:) I can only imagine how nice it would be when u work at the gallery the bass would come up too see what you are doing :D
Can’t thank you enough Joey slowly working on my fish wall not a hole room unfortunately seems you show up with a video when I am struggling with an idea LIGHTS thanks for all you do
This is the way I do my lights, filters, wave makers, heater, and polishers... I like to have cables hidden as well. So now when I need to do some maintenance, I don’t have to worry about unplugging or looking for any plugs. Just a quick button for it all. Doing it this way has encouraged me to keep a better cleaning schedule as well since it’s easier to do.
Thanks for another great video, for mere mortals like myself I get loads of information and ideas (perhaps beyond me atm😀) but I love watching yours. 😀 👍🇬🇧
Love the video Joey! I do need to say, though, that shop lights are only an inexpensive option if your tank is at least 48" long. Smaller ones are expensive and hard to find.
Liked the vid. Thanks for posting. But with this one I have questions. If yr colorblind,I wonder if you enjoy a fish for its personality, shape, size etc.? Cause if you can't distinguish color?...Other question is,if the fish don't have a "light schedule" do they act different then say fish that do?..ok till next vid, cont success and watcha soon
Now at a closer look i think the plants in the Angel fish tank are so long for lack of photosynthesis, they are compensating for the lack of light by beeing covered with mulm.
I did the same fixture but only different is the led lights long tube kind. I just hate keep switching out the fluorescent tubes plus led is worth it now since its much cheaper than before.
I hadn't noticed you had the tropheus ikola before I recently got a group my self i have 25 in a 150 mine are just babies but im finding them to be very enjoyable
love your videos. the part where you just showed your fish with music was very nice I like that better than the rest of the video, your fish are gorgeous and they look happy, Thanks for sharing.
Your room is amazing! If I may bring something to your attention. It appears the water flow on the angelfish tank seems a tad too strong. They really do best in slow moving water
@@db146 if I may without offending explain my reason for my post? I started raising and breeding angelfish in 1990 and shortly thereafter discus. I had a discussion with 6 other breeders about filtration. We decided I would be the guinea pig and experiment setting up 3 equally sized aquariums of angelfish from the same spawn using 3 types of filtration. #1 was using a sponge filter. #2 used a hang on back filter slightly undersized. #3 used a sump pump filter slightly undersized as well. What happened was the slower the water movement was the less energy needed to combat the current and they were able to convert their nutrition to developing size and maturity sooner. The sump aquarium always had their fins clamped and looked like arrow heads while the sponge tank always had their fins on full display.
Hello, first of all I want to say I really like your channel a lot. You are truly inspiring for so many of us. I got a question about your light enabling system with wireless control. I see the power input goes directly into that little device. Is this able to take the startup load and keeps up the power over a long time(months/years)? After all its a relay and might get dangerous after a certain amount of clicks. Short circuit is the last thing you want as fire can occur very rapid. Water on your circuit also may not be detected in time before the fuse or current measurement shut the electricity off. Ive been in a similar situation, I just want you to be aware. Greetings from Belgium!
At those prices you could have two sets of lights, each with different temperatures so you can have both on, one on for ambient, or one on for evening light.
Just got a 4 foot LED shop light at Harbor freight today for $19 USD with a coupon limit of 3 . It's a Braun but there's absolutely no information on the Kelvin rating at all .It only states what voltage, watts and lumens are which is 5k @ 60 watts and extremely bright .The construction build is excellent and it barely gets warm making it perfect for installation in a canopy . I've been trying to get some specs on the light but haven't been able to find anything so far and not even on their website . It appears to be more in the blue end of the spectrum but as to what amount I have no idea . I'm going to try this for awhile and see what happens with the plants in my tank which are light loving types. Glad to be getting rid of the old florescent lights because they're dangerous and you constantly have to replace the tubes which gets spendy after awhile plus having to deal with tossing them in the recycling center bins. I'm glad that LED technology came along .
