Brandon, I am old enough to be your grandmother. I have reinvented myself many times in my life as I am now in Ecom. To listen to your humble and so skilled presentation here brought tears to my eyes. Your wisdom for your years is truly something to behold!! Your mother raised a wonderful son and now you will bless her with your great gifts. Thank you so much for all that you share. Blessings to you and yours.
7:55 is when the actual tips start. The stuff before then is still good, but if you're already sold on using Etsy and are just looking for tips you might want to skip ahead.
Bro thank you. I'm not trying to be a jerk I know this guy means well but I'm so tired of youtube videos taking 37 years to get to the point. I realize other people may not be as knowledgeable as me but this helps man.
I found your video while searching about starting an art business, and am so grateful. TRULY, anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Starting today, I am now going to pursue what is in my heart, which is art. Your story is so touching, and thank you so much for sharing. Subscribed. :)
Wow Kristi. I just said the same thing in other words, right before finding this video. it's time to start prioritizing the gifts that we hold close to our hearts. Especially now, in times where companies are proving how disposable we are. I heard someone say "people will love what you do, because you love what you do". Blessings to you
Whoever is reading this, I hope you have a great day! Here is some artist inspiration for you 🎨 ✨ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gHi-OYi570s.html
You frequently say you're grateful, whether for people or circumstances. Mystics always talk about the power of gratitude and its ability to draw good fortune into one's life. I wish you would post your etsy shop!
I like how real and humble you are. I’m actually a pretty skilled visual artist and am often discouraged every time I actually try to sell stuff. Thanks for not just making a dumb clickbait video where you brag or talk about some get rich quick bull.
I like how you focus on connecting with your audience and sharing genuine tips. You’re not all flashy and showy like so many trainers out there. Thank you - this is great
Bro I loved hearing your story. I'm in Perth, Australia. Was working in the mines bringing in big bank but absolutely hating life. I decided to quit and go back and study and over the past fortnight have discovered the whole Etsy/Shopify POD world and am trying to follow your journey. Feel a little anxious at times, but this story helps me know I'm on the right path.
I started my shop 4 months ago and everyday I contemplate quitting, but I keep reminding myself why I stated it in the first place. Thank you for ur video
I fall into the category of someone who always loved art, had talent at a young age, then just stopped drawing because of everyday life responsibilities (job, housework, kids, family). After a few years I slowly began getting my love for art back but was also one of those people that was insecure about my work... I was holding myself back. Recently I decided that I'm no longer going to give up on myself and I started posting art on my IG and actually started a RU-vid channel (never thought I would do that). Now I'm looking into selling prints and going all out to see where this journey takes me. Wish me luck 🤞🏼😁
Very good video, very inspiring. Your delivery is just calm, genuine and clear no shouting or extraness, I like that. I'm trying to start an Etsy shop as well and yes there are persons in my ears with their doubts so I was really happy to come across this video.
Thanks, young man! I'm 52 and just starting to get serious about creating a real business from my art. I did think about Etsy, but saw it as too saturated with competition - but you've inspired me to build a store on there as one of my income streams :)
I would put a limited amount on there & draw them to your own site. I have my own site and it’s hard to get traffic. Now I’m building a store with all my own art. My other shop are design elements bought and assembled in my own way.
@@THopkins7 Thank you :) My website is on the way - it's a good idea. I've also prepared to have an emailing service connected to my Etsy account to collect customer email addresses (if they agree and opt-in) so that I can continue a relationship etc. (AWeber is the only one that integrates with Etsy, and I haven't tested it yet. Then I plan to copy my subscribers over to my preferred emailing service, Active Campaign).
@@vict0rtayl0r I’m reading more and more, to rely less and less on social media, and more and more on your email list. - If something happens to the social media accounts, or if they close down, you’ll still have your email list. - No-one can take that list away from you…. That’s gold. So that’s the list you build up. Getting the addresses from Etsy is perfect.
@@reefprayerresin things have changed a lot for me since I wrote that comment... But anyway,, yes definitely your own mailing list is an asset you own and will always have.
WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT TELLS THE FULL EXPERIENCE, SOMETHING THAT MOTIVATES EVERYONE ELSE THATS AT THE BEGINNING, THANK YOU I LOVE THE INFORMATION IN YOUR VIDEOS
Your mom raised you well and I’m pretty sure she is very proud of you ….I work in healthcare for 22 years and I love my job helping people …part of me like to create things …I’m in the process of learning passive income through Etsy and thank you for all the wonderful tips and experiences that you shared …you motivate me to pursue my new goals in life
Hi Timothy Brandon! I just want to thank you for posting your Etsy stories and tutorials. I watch your videos over and over, particularly this one where you share how you started, to get me through when I start having doubts about the process. But you’re right, we just gotta trust the process. Thank you again. I wish you more success.
It is such a gift to share your experience with the world, and offering all the wisdom you learned, in hopes to help people thrive. I have the same goal. Thank you so much!
Dude!!! Thank you so much for making this video. It’s so inspiring and encouraging. I related a lot to your story too. I’m taking the leap of faith and opening up my store after watching this, I even saved this video to come back to it to keep me motivated.
Thank you ! I needed this! Especially at this point in my life where I was LITERALLY on the verge of quitting and closing my shop down completely. I do need to do more market research and check on competition and viable niches. So thank you a million times over 🙏🏾
Keep going! It took me four failed shops before i saw any real movement in sales. When I say failed, they just made no money so I quit and moved on to something else.. I realise now it was never WHAT I was selling but HOW I was selling it😉 x
You are an inspiration..this is exactly what I need to hear..I believe many people have the similar stories but everyone’s situation and backgrounds were different. It’s really nice to hear another example. Especially about selling art. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m inspired, and I would like to know more.
I have bookmarked a lot of your videos that you've posted in the past few months and I'm really glad I came across your content. You are a person who I can trust because 1) you are still humble 2) you are grateful for your life's experiences 3) you shared tribute and thankfulness toward your mom who supported and encouraged you 4) you told us not to listen to those people who shoot down our ideas by telling us we can't do it. I sincerely hope your endeavors continue to be successful, and that your life is full of blessings and joy.
So glad to find your channel. I started my etsy shop in January because I was curious about digital wall art. I haven't been so consistent in posting and promoting my shop. I'd definitely follow your tips! I'm hoping to succeed in this business too.
You're smart for realizing that starting in graphic design puts you at the bottom of a very low paying career. Unfortunately, the pay scale for designer's doesn't go very high either. It's barely a working wage after taxes. I've worked in the field for 13 years. I also pivoted my career in a new direction.
Whoa! Thank you for sharing your story. So inspiring. Just started selling in artsy with no sales yet, and just quit my corporate job for I wasn’t happy. Art and selling are what I lean towards that make me happy, so here I am. Thanks for the encouragement. What is the name of your Etsy shop? And how can we ask you to be our mentor, and/or critique our shops?
Thanks for sharing your story! I'm in a similar boat--I'm employed and I'm doing pretty well as a fresh grad, but art is my passion and Etsy, as I've seen, is one of the best ways for me to work with my passion! Holding on and manifesting a successful business!
I’m trapped in my current career path but after watching this vid, you brought my dream back to life. Thank you for creating this vid. Just subscribed to your channel.
OMG Brandon. I just realized that I have been modeling my store after yours AND watching your videos without even knowing it. If that doesn't show that you are doing something right, I don't know what would. haha keep up the good work my man.
I have watch a lot of you videos and you are great at presenting and are providing great information that is easy to follow. I am semi-retired but need some passive income to feel more confident in my finances. This may be the path. I have started to set up Esty account. Have learned Mid Journey and plan to use that tool, Canva and Photo Shop to provide professional products and branding. Wish me luck. I had created a blog , affiliate marketing but it never got off the ground. Time to try something new. I like digital products and like the creativity it takes. Thanks again!
Hey that's crazy. I was always painting and doing creative stuff as a kid but my paretns couldn't afford an artistic career so ended up lik you getting my electrical license. After 10 years of being boring at work and with my 3d printer started designing and selling my prints. After 2 years I quit and now I have a 3d printing farm and making a living out of my work :)
So inspired by your story and encouragement. I literally just quit my 6 figure+ job to pursue my gifts in art/design and e-commerce (and I have 4 kids lol…. and can’t wait to share this experience with you. +1 subscriber
*Thank you Brandon for a great motivation, My Etsy shop is approved this week and I believe I can achieve my goal soon as you did, it might take some time but with consistency I can do that Thank you once again love from India 🇮🇳❤❤❤*
Thank you for sharing your journey and meaningful story. It’s very inspiring. I’m on the same path as yours rn. I’m over my mid 20th and finding a way to start using my art skill and I found your video. Hopefully I’ll get it done soon.
I had to subscribe cause I usually don’t watch RU-vid videos like this all the way through but I really needed this Thankyou so much for the motivation and helpful tips💙
Totally AWESOME video Brandon. Thanks so much! I am thrilled that you followed your passion! I have subscribed, and look forward to many more videos from you.
Most printable wall art Etsy shops are using free images from places like Pexels or Unsplash. They take other people's work and sell it as digital downloads for a few bucks. They aren't the ones who took the work to learn photography!
Great video. Great tips. Looking forward to going through your videos. :) It can be overwhelming to start selling online and to follow your but I found your advice really useful and encouraging. Thank you!
Thanks for the great advice! After watching a bunch of f/t marketers giving their "advice" (selling...)you were a breath of fresh air! Consider me subscribed!
Bro I thought this video was a tutorial. I understand you want to get your ideas out there and you wanna show people what it really takes to do something, but you didn’t even show us a screen of a computer (besides how much money you made). There is no walk-through of how to set up a website; even on Etsy the website that you use. You could’ve at least showed us a little bit of how to get started with an idea that we already have.
I was doing electrical work and I realized I hated the job. We were refurbishing a high school and it was so incredibly dirty and unsafe. You were inside a building with people were spray painting, drywall dust everywhere, dust flying everywhere. I got out after 2 months.
A lot of companies are not happy that people can now make these kinds of income. I am one of those people who make my own opportunity online, it is great!!
Hey! I loved your story and am currently building my own similar to what you’re doing. I’ve had my Etsy shop for 8 months and still kinda slow. I want to scale and grow and looking for tips on optimization. I think I need to upstage my mock-ups for POD. And maybe get into more digital art.
Your message was so inspiring. You are so right that taking some classes to enhance your skills would be more effective. Love this message. Thank you so much - take care. 🙌🏼🙏🏼☕🙂
Thank you Brandon that was very inspiring I'm trying to get mine up and running I'm still making designs I want to have your magic number 16 designs ready to go but it's hard it's very very hard especially when you work full time but you're very inspiring and I watch you as much as I can thank you.
Thank you so much for your video brandon! I just started my shop on the first of may and I‘m so excited I only sell phisical art prints and sticker sheets currently but I will definitely look into digital stuff
Congratulations on making it on Etsy, I do print-on demand but the expenses currently are higher than the profit.. still figuring that out. I created my first digital product a few weeks ago, but it wasn't so successful...
These stories have always sounded so motivating, but after over a year of doing literally everything people say are the best things to do to succeed on Etsy, and getting literally zero sales, I just can't understand how people get successful lol. I've even had Etsy experts say how great my shops were, and still, nothing. I don't know what the secret is, but selling on Etsy is SO MUCH harder than y'all make it out to be.
ive looked into this this really got me excited to try this cant wait to truly try this out i found something that makes one of a kind images it really makes beautiful images im going to use it
What are your annual COGS vs Gross sales (include ad spending, shipping and print and/or frame costs if you don't mind)? Edit: Yes I realize what I typed - He also has a physical print Etsy shop. Mostly I am wondering what the COGS are for Etsy fees re: digital item sellers. Ads can be costly, if that is part of it. Everyone's shop is different obviously...
@@steverogers7624 Yep I watched it. I found his two shops: One is Printables, and the other is Physical prints. There is always an ad/Etsy fee cost as well. At this point I am calculating approx 10-15% in fee costs and more if ads are enabled, depending on daily budget spend. (this is after 1 year of experimenting with my own Etsy shop, which is different because I am selling physical items). :)
