I did exactly the same as this guy did. I filter threw a centrifuge, an make sure that i mix thick oil with thin oil, to keep the consistency the same. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Gfg3vTNo44.htmlsi=NxVp1dgU3SbPSSNP
Not sure of a cut off date per se, but older engines would likely have the most success using crankcase oil for fuel. The emission sensors and soot filtering devises om newer vehicles don't hold up well with clean sulpher-free stuff. The 2cycle Detroit Diesels would thrive on it, they used to run on raw filtered crude. Old Caterpillar and Cummins manual natural aspirated engines could handle filtered crude also, however initial starting would probably be easier on real fuel then switching after the heads got warm.
I hope to start running wmo next year. Got similar test mules. 86 jetta and a 95 dodge. Got a 55 gallon drum of heating oil that's been settling a year now. I occasionally get a few gallons of iso 32 hydraulic oil. The VW is gonna get experimented on first after a complete reseal and clutch replacement. Gonna be a 2 tank setup. Found a 6 gallon boat tank, I just need to modify the sending unit for a return line. Have you tried ATF in your volkswagen? Working on a source of ATF from the local trans shop.
Mix gasoline and E85 in with it. The ethanol drags the moisture out and the gasoline portion helps to thin the oil. I'd also boil it to help evaporate the remaining moisture and it will halve the time it takes to filter. I do run this in a common rail injection engine and there's no issues.
Do you notice any power loss running wmo in the transit van? My truck is low on power running homemade diesel but it's fine for daily driveing would suck pulling a trailer
@@randymattt can acetone change the colour of it in Asia its called light diesel oil which is defined as mixture residual oil such as waste engine transmission oil and distillate fuel such as kerosene diesel etc.
Mabey acetone mixed in 5% would help some of the carbon and junk sink to bottom quicker and I watched a video of some one dumping off road diesel trough cat litter to make it clear Mabey a charcoal filter would be best to get a more yellow color
