Ive read somewhere that it's easier to use silicone brush to even out when putting resin, easier to clean using acetone. Haven't tried it yet though.

Beautiful and useful video, thank you! I'm just getting started with polymer clay, so it was really interesting to see the whole process. I'm also trying to work with acrylic paints, it's so difficult! :0 I'm glad that youtube recs led me to your channel :з
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 9 месяцев назад
Glad you liked it! Using acrylic paint is a little more difficult I think! Thinning it with water helps, but often means more than one coat is needed. I'd like to try out gouache paints sometime! They look better for things like this :]

This video is super helpful. I noticed your Moon River brewing glass. You must be in Savannah. Me too!
@Gingermichelle1024
@Gingermichelle1024 4 месяца назад
How hard are your finished pieces? Is it normal for sculpted to have some bend to it?😊
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 4 месяца назад
haha, the glass was actually a gift! But I'm in Georgia, closer to Atlanta :] I'd like to visit Savannah though, it seems nice! I use polymer clay by Sculpey, and no, it is not normal to have some bend to it. At least not once it is fully cooled after baking. Right when you take it out of the oven it might be a little flexible, but it hardens up when it cools. Hope that helps!

I make polymer clay jewelry too! I never leave my work to bake the next day, accident prone lol so the odds are they would be messed up! Lol ps you can use acetone one they’ve been baked instead of alcohol, that’s what I do cause you don’t have to be so gentle cause it won’t ruin the shape.
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 5 месяцев назад
It's a bit of a risk if you don't bake the clay immediately once they are done, but I'm confident I won't mess them up if I wait till the next day to bake them. I'll have to try the acetone next time! Thanks!

Very nice video!! Informative and inspiring :) I am having trouble with cleaning up the edges without distorting the shape of my clay. Any recommendations?
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 8 месяцев назад
Thanks! I'd recommend letting the clay rest for an hour, it could be a little too soft from the warmth of your hands. So let it get a little cooler, and it should firm up a bit, making it easier to clean up the edges!

What is that black tool you were smoothing out the clay with?
@brittanysalzone

I used various clay sculpting tools, but the black ones are Sculpey Tools brand, their duel end detail pack of 3. Hope that helps! 💜

Hi! I was wondering if you ever tried having magnets imbedded inside the clay so that is hidden (I want to make two keychains that magnetically attaches). I'm new to clay and wanted to surprise my long-distance partner with something ;-; This video has been pretty helpful so far, so many thanks!
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 3 месяца назад
I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it's possible! I'd probably stamp the magnet into the soft clay prior to baking, so the magnet sits in the clay nicely. Just don't bake the magnet in the oven with the clay! Haha. If you did this method, you'd have to make sure your clay is pretty flat and smooth though, if it's uneven it might make the magnet not connect well to a metal surface. Hope that helps!
@verycool2782
@verycool2782 3 месяца назад
@@brittanysalzone Oh wait that's honestly very smart! If I were to cover the magnet with the clay, it'll probably not work as well I'm assuming? But regardless, thank you so much for the reply! I'll try it right away !!

yeah! I wouldn't recommend covering the magnet, it would loose its strength!

This is genuinely the best clay pin art I've seen! In terms of the glue to use to attach the pin backings, is that a brand you fully recommend? I was considering using E6000 as I'm always having the pin backing rip off with a little bit of pressure🥲
@brittanysalzone
@brittanysalzone 6 месяцев назад
Yes I would recommend it! I haven't had any issues so far with either my clay magnets or pins. And I love that the glue doesn't have a strong smell! My pins have an extra layer of strength to the backing because I cover the pin backing with resin after the glue has cured. The E6000 is a popular one I've seen used a lot for things like this but I haven't personally used it.
