I made my backing cards by using watercolor paper and splotching colors on it depending on the pin and cut them with a paper cutter. It saved me money on outsourcing since I don't have a printer.

Paloma, please don't bake your polymer clay for less than the time on the package. It will under-cure which will make it brittle and it will easily snap. Instead, get an oven thermometer and check the temp of your oven to be sure you get right at 275. As long as your oven is below 350 f, you will NOT burn your clay. You can leave it in for 2 hours and it won't burn. I leave mine in for an hour to get a good, strong cure. Then the clay will be bendy and very strong. It will not snap unless you just keep bending it back and forth and back and forth. It will easily last a long time! Baking for less than the allotted time will ruin your work and make it weak and easily break in the future. I tested my oven with the thermometer and learned my oven runs an astonishing 75-80 degrees hotter than the dial! This is why I struggled not to burn things at first. So now, I set it at 200 f on the dial and it's at 275 on my oven thermometer. At this point, I start baking my pieces for easily an hour, but I put the thermometer to 325 so that if the oven was to heat up too much, I will hear an alarm before it gets hot enough to burn my clay. This way if there's a mistake and I put the dial too high, or someone else in my house goes to use the oven and doesn't realize I have clay in, my clay will not get burned. I hope this helps! Your stuff is so cute and I love your videos!

Do I prefer the new coating over the uv resin?
@palomathepeach
@palomathepeach Год назад
as far as how it looks, no. nothing looks cleaner and crisper than UV resin. but as far as the coating process, yes. UV resin is an extreme hassle to get onto projects.

hi paloma!! been a huge fan for yours since 2021.. i was insired to make pins from your first pin making video.. but how to avoid chipping off? i tried making few ones using oven baked clay then used nail resin as coat then super glue for pins then after 2 days the pin is already chipping off along with the paint :(

I have a problem with pin backings as we don't have E6000 in the UK and I've used super glue in the past which works temporarily. The back surface of the pins has trouble sticking to the glue and pin backs 😢
@JackRabbitLondon
@JackRabbitLondon Год назад
You could put a layer of clear or colored epoxy resin over the entire back including the pin back. Just make sure not to cover the hole the pin goes into and have the pin open. Alternativey Have you tried 2 part epoxy resin glue? Gorilla glue does one. And you can find no brand 2 part epoxy resin glue in Poundland.

What if I don't have an oven? Is it okay to do it with Hair dryer?
@sleepycat5427
@sleepycat5427 2 месяца назад
You need to bake it with an oven. I use a small, cheap toaster oven. It’s actually not safe to bake your clay in the same oven you cook food in because the clay creates toxic fumes while it’s baking. So bake clay in a separate toaster oven in a well ventilated space.
