That’s why people can’t stand Ted Mosby because at his best and at his worse, he’s the most relatable person on the show. Every time we see him make a stupid mistake with women or anything else we put him down and label him because we know that is what we would do in his place. We all do stupid stuff before we finally realize what we need in our lives Ted knew from the very beginning he just didn’t know it was with another woman not Robin.

@govindmenon1859
@govindmenon1859 3 года назад
@@vblue3789 clearly you missed the entire point of the show. The point of the show was that there is no perfect person for you, and even if you find that perfect person and you lose them, it doesn't mean you lost your shot at love and you won't find them again. You can always move on, you can always love again, and you can always find that love in someone as well. And with Barney, he couldn't find a successful marriage with Robin but he rehashed his relationship with his father and he also found love in his daughter. Which shows that love doesn't have to be purely romantic, it can come in many shapes and forms. Barney's character developed hugely because of his daughter, even Robin couldn't change it to the extent that his child did. That's how life works. It's realistic. If you wanted some ending where they all end up happily ever after without taking anything away from the show that inspires you, then watch FRIENDS. Or watch the alternative ending and stop whining

Dan Bruffell considering this is Ted retelling his story. He tells his kids that if he knew where the mother was, he would go to her rather than to the robots vs wrestlers. And at that day it was 45 days away from meeting her. It pretty much tells us the mother is dead.
@JohnnyLCob
@JohnnyLCob 5 лет назад
@@karini42631But how does it tell us the mother is dead? And why do they have Barney put such a emphasis on Ted being "All alone" ?
@ComaAlpha
@ComaAlpha 5 лет назад
@@JohnnyLCob the emphasis on Ted being alone to my opinion is for three different reasons. 1 Ted just got out of his worst relationship with the craziest woman he ever dated in.... Well I forgot her name. So there's that emphasis on "what an I even doing? Every relationship I'm in fails, what's the point anymore." 2 while he's having these thoughts the love of his life and one of his best friends are getting married. And because of that he feels like he's losing two people he loves with moving to Chicago and starting anew being the only thing he can do to try and mask the pain. 3 because it's Ted telling the story from 20 years after, it also puts an emphasis on how lonely and heartbroken he is after Tracy dies. Even though he didn't even know Tracy yet and didn't know she was gonna get sick and die, this is a telling of the past instead of a story happening in real time. And there's a couple of clues, like Tracy being nowhere during the entire story. But the main one is the epilogue in this video. In other words he's saying "if I knew your mom was gonna die on me, I would've met her sooner and loved her longer and stronger. I miss her to pieces."

You know, I hate to shatter the image for all of you (remember that episode) but after reading the words carefully, that's more than love, that's obsession. There is a line. Of course if you love someone enough, you would consider their desires over your own, even if it ends up hurting you. But if everyone is telling you to reason and you refuse with the excuse that you love them too much, than your not purely acting out of love, your acting off of your emotional attatchment to this person, and I really hate to say it because it brings out some personal thoughts for me but if your emotionally attached, it is almost definite that the other person isn't willing, or probably even capable, of having the strong feelings for you the way you do for them, and if your not careful, rather than making them happy for doing all you can to care for them, you may overwhelm them and drive you away

the whole scene makes me so sad..everything from Barney saying " you are alone" to the background commentary by Bob Saget with Ted imagining different things like being alone in his apartment smelling the Indian food or watching Barney and Robin fight, or running to the mothers apartment and gives that speech even the scene where he gets punched in the face and wakes up with a smile like a little boy who just got a toy...pure innocence...pure sadness...you just feel his sadness. It also makes me think of how I am also a lonely guy like Ted .only difference is I am not good looking and successful like Ted Mosby neither do I have the awesome friends that he had. I was teaching architecture. I was always at MacLaren's. She was always not spending all her time in a bar. She was dating some finance guy named Louis. And I I was alone."

2 years ago my friends all grew up and moved away. This scene wrecked me as I felt just as alone as Ted in that moment. An era had ended. I met the love of my life just a few months later and he was living just down the street from me the entire time. I look at this scene with new eyes. If you feel alone, hang in there. Life is filled with growing pains and there is always a new chapter waiting just around the corner ❤

One of the most important sitcoms of our generation. Very rare, if ever, will there ever be a sitcom that’s able to balance great humor with deep, impactful scenes and emotion. The show was straight humor seasons 1-5 but midway through season 5 or so and on, it became so much more. But still retained its sitcom format. Such a brilliant sitcom that will never be replicated.

How could anybody not watch this and figure out she died? He's in tears because he wants 45 more days. It's the only thing that made sense.
@nathanwahr7802
@nathanwahr7802 6 лет назад
RedBengal Well I mean at that point he was around 30 already. I feel like it could have just as easily been a "I've waited too damn long to have you in my life, I can't wait any longer" sort of deal
@wandabailey5320
@wandabailey5320 5 лет назад
The narration and context makes it clear that it's not the 30 year old who is delivering the teary eyed speech (after all the 30 year old didn't know her - how could he give a speech to her). It is the 50ish narrator who is delivering the speech in his imagination - although taking the form of the 30 year old in that fantasy, it is clearly the 50 year old experiencing those emotions - and the tears were not "can't wait any longer" forward looking tears, they were "I would give anything to have had 45 more days or even 45 more minutes with you" backward looking tears. The deep tears of someone who has lost someone. In conjunction with the dialogue clues, I agree that Josh's performance in this scene makes the foreshadowing of her fate pretty hard to miss. It at least planted the seed in many people's minds at the time, although there was some pretty heavy debate about it back then. But with hindsight the clue seems unmistakable.

I wonder why exactly people hate the ending, it made perfect sense. It was a touch of realism combined with closure. The writers knew how it was going to end, and they gave several hints about it such as this one. Ted got what he wanted from life; he fell in love, got married and kids. Same as Robin, she had a great career and travelled the world. In the end tracy died, finally getting back with max. Same for ted and robin. After years alone there was no reason for them not to be together. They both got what they wanted from life, the reason which why they never stayed together was gone. The only thing i do agree is barney's development. Which they "fixed" with the birth of his daughter. It felt like they didnt put too much effort on it.
@eyjeyforce6616
@eyjeyforce6616 7 лет назад
For Narnia i couldnt agree more. the ending fits the pieces together. why ted told his story not of how he met tracy but who robin was in his life. why would he want to start the show with how he met robin anyway? thats roght because he wants his kids to know that
@goldenageenthusiast
@goldenageenthusiast 7 лет назад
For Narnia I think it was showing Barney is human and after something life-changing he went back to his old ways as a coping mechanism. It was sad but it was a comfort to him.
@HerrFrutex
@HerrFrutex 6 лет назад
I strongly disagree on that! Barney ALWAYS was the most complete and most loyal character on the show despite all his sexual adventures (where he never forced anyone innocent. He is not a nice guy and had his tricks but he just used what was given to him) - he always did everything for everybody of his friends, cared for them, helped them, developed them. The scene with his daughter was just natural. Plain and simple.
@VitorOMota

FINALLY! I have the same perspective about the ending, and I still want to cry about it ;-;.....but that's life. And I actually liked Barney's ending.....i think it's actually pretty normal that people might have a relapse in life, and return to do the things they used to, i guess it's one of the reasons they got divorced....
@happytomakeyousick4172
@happytomakeyousick4172 4 года назад
I think because people didn’t see the hints that were dropped. My wife spoiled the ending for me by accident thinking I already watched it. I was pissed when I heard he ended up with robin. But a few years later I rewatched the series and realized how many hints they drop. It is a perfect ending. It was extremely risky and many hate ending. But it’s beautiful if you realize it was there all along.

After eight years of making life a crazy adventure, Future Ted reveals that he values the quiet moments with his friends and his home most of all. All episode Barbey asks what Ted will wish he'd done twenty years from now...but if Future Tee could go back and time and relieve all this, he wouldn't take the "awesome" adventure. He'd take whatever time he can get- even just 45 seconds- with the woman he's always going to love. It's beautiful. And heartbreaking.

They could have put two laugh tracks in this scene. One when he said her boyfriend would punch him, and another when he actually did. But they didn't. They didn't add it and that's why I love this show. Sure, it had a laugh track, but it's in moments like this it got rid of it. It was like being sucked in, for a split second. Amazing.

This was a great episode sad and needed because at that point in the season I felt that the episodes were lacking something, this was it the emotion and story development of how Ted meet his future wife along the unexpected twist at the end with the whole story of him and his friends goofing off in there bar turns out to be Ted imagination to cope with the fact that everyone in his life is moving on with there's and he's still in the same place 9 years ago
