Thanks for the tips. I have a 225 but just recently got the 2620 pas. Then added a torque trimmer attachment. Just received my 450 head a few days ago. Boy are you right about opening the head up. I tried with my fingers, then a screw driver and finally got it off with a forked tool that is for removing car trim or molding. I will try the way you showed. I thought that I got a knock off until I seen your video. Surprised that Echo wouldn't make it better. That's a hassle for sure.

They call it "bullet-proofing" your speed feed head. I have 2 string trimmers with the Speed Feed 400 head. Use stainless steel washers, nuts and bolts. Also, here's something I don't see anybody do that they should when tapping or bumping any type of bump-feed head....Don't slam the head on the concrete or grass. Instead, grab the lower part of the shaft with your left hand while running it and just push the head down hard enough on a hard surface to push and engage the speed-feed head spring while it's spinning. It's like a pogo stick action instead of a slam or hammering action that everyone typically does. You will hear and feel in your hands when the new string has fed-out more line. Now your head will last WAY longer because there's no slamming or eventual cracking of the plastic.

Russell, good video and tips. I used a greased Phillips #2 screwdriver and controlled heat to accomplish exactly the same; now my 0.130 (3.3 mm) twisted line moves freely like with the brand new 450 and 0.105 (2.7 mm) string! Other tips: paint a line with white/light, easy-to-read color where the alignment arrow goes and also on the side of the hub that faces the ground! String length wise, I use 3 full arm lengths (I'm 6'2) of string on the 450s installed on my Shindaiwa B450 (20+ years old) and Stihl FS-KM 131R and FS 240. Oh, the Speed Feed fits many brands of trimmers; just need to use the correct thread insert - generally, green for Stihls, red for Shindaiwas, gold for Echos and so forth. Good tips on the bolt/washer (shoutout to Brian from Brian's Lawn Maintenance for mentioning it, not his idea, though ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M5EY3b4R3zE.html ) and hour meter.

To clarify, I only use the 450 with 0.130 (3.3 mm) twisted/silent line on my bigger machines only, preferentially, the B450 or FS 240.

The hole in the spool is square so drilling it makes the hole round which is the shape of the line

I'm going for the husqvarna 525 LST... if I can get my 👐 on it,...otherwise echo 2620T will be my 2nd choice. I want a trimmer that gives me the ability to add on accessorie attachments onto it. My wife informed me to get a commercial type instead of a homeowner type, cause they're much better, which I agree with her.

Friend, you need a bicycle repair stand. That trimmer won't last long dropping it on the floor every time you work on it. I found a used one at a pawn shop for $45.

I got the 2017 Redmax bcz260ts. I love it. Bought the Echo 2620pas last summer or should I say paid for it with attachments. My dealer just got all of my pieces in Jan 2021. I just put the Edge'it Pro on it. Just haven't used it yet because I don't want to get the Echo dirty. Lhh. When we start having dry weather in St. Louis, MO I will use it.

That is some thick line, my srm 225 probably wouldn’t even spin a head full of that line.

I had a 450 head and the metal eye flew out and nearly put a hole in my metal garage door. So I use only 400 head now. The 450 showed no signs of problems it just flew out. I had been using it for hours.

😂 got into a brawl with the trimmer. Yeah, getting that cap back on can be a pain; good thing we rarely have to take it off. I've had helpers in the past who would somehow _always_ be standing around with it disassembled playing with the string 😳🤯🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣 Then I'd have to give them the speedfeed talk.....sometimes more than once 🥴

hahahah The worst is when the line breaks off and its INSIDE the cap on one side and your 5 minutes from being done and you take the walk of shame back to the truck.

@@GwinnettLawns ohhh yeah, I know that one....OR the string runs out right at the end....that's why I usually carry a folding knife and/or a cheap Walmart mutlitool, in case I need assistance with dagblasted cap tabs....what I need to get is a cheap version of a Leatherman....or maybe an _actual_ Leatherman. Let's see what Amazon has...

Yall need the Gerber little pop a top tool that is about an inch long and has knife, flathead and 4 others, all locking all fits and works for using surprisingly enough. found one in a yew bush some frat boy dropped, tis a awesome piece, wouldn't be without it. I don't know the proper name, but it is awesome and Gerber makes it. Can't be more than about ten bucks

Thanks I bought the debit pro. I want to use it on my Stihl FS 500. I think I have to change the gear head in order to use the 450 speed head with the .105 line

Overhyped head in my opinion and I know I’ll get flack for saying that…the bump head on my trimmer works great and no problem to load and it’s a Husqvarna 128ld…and I’ve heard some people call the Husqvarna junk but mine has been fine.

You dont have to do this. Just keep buying the caps as they will wear out. The seller of those caps needs to put his kids though college so help him out.
