Karin was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness from the age of 4 years old when her mom converted to the religion in 1985. After being disfellowshipped at 16 and reinstated at 17, Karin spent an additional 19 years as one of Jehovah’s witnesses until leaving in 2017.
In 2021, she decided to speak publicly on social media about her experiences growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness and the problematic doctrines of the organization. Her goal in doing so is to educate people about the realities and dangers of this high-control religion and to provide a safe space for others who have left to laugh, cry, and hopefully feel less alone in their journey to break free.

A year after I stopped attending meetings, I ran into a sister who asked me (with a smirk) how life was going. I replied with: "I'm good. I didn't grow a goatee, I'm not smoking cigarettes, and no one is having my baby." a

Yes this cult does consume your every being….. when I see JWs I’m reminded of the sadness and weight of this cult….but looking at Us “worldly” people we are walking around with a huge smile on our faces because we do not have that huge bolder on our back and we no longer have FOG (fear, obligation & guilt) on our mind 24-7

Made me cry; yes we're strong, but the devastation of not having our mom, floods over us at times, for sure.

Wonderful interview. For years witnesses have been saying “best life ever” but it’s only when you leave that cult!

Hi Karin, Thank you for sharing your story and please except one of my huge Mumma hugs. The pain of not having our mums in our lives is diabolically heart crushingly evil. As you said, "we are strong". Anyways thanks again, much love and hugs Rochelle aka Mumma.

I was brought up a JW but thankfully I never took the plunge of baptism…I never felt that connection to do it because the elders always said I was never doing enough. So by the time I was 18, I just stopped going completely and it’s been for the best. My mom, dad and brothers were never truly active and finally walked away and fully disassociated themselves too. I’m incredibly grateful that I never had to experience shunning by my parents…my heart goes out to those who have lost their relationships with their loved ones. Thank you for bringing all this to light. It’s so great to know that I’m not the only one who feels like this is a cult.

I'm so glad people who escape the JW cult today have pod cast , utube , and the internet . When I left I had none of that , no internet , no cell phones , no support at all . I'm sure it is still very hard to leave today , but you can find so much support now that we did not have back in the day , left in the mid 80s , all friends , all family , traded one life for another , no regrets. Talk to some ex jw' s who left before the internet . Good job makes me smile when I see people leave

Thank you Karin and Wendi ❤️. I also have realized that I am stronger than I thought I was. My situation is opposite, but still the same. I lost my best friend, my daughter, who now shuns me because I left. I live each day loving this precious life I have been given and will never give up hope that maybe someday I will have my daughter back.

In October 2013 my push button cell phone died, little did I know my new smart phone would make me smart to the Watchtower. I got hooked on apostate videos, I paid more than the usual attention and I took notes in my mind. On my 2nd anniversary of dissociating I posted my 1st video , Watchtower has murdered us Karen and Wendy and we aren't letting Watchtower get away with the crime ,we are speaking beyond the grave , how we love haunting the governing body and making apostate videos is the only way we can get justice. ❤️ Justin Porter ex jw

Great interview. Animals can be so wonderful when lonely. Their love is unconditional. I’m happy for both very pretty ladies here. God still loves you both very much. Ezekiel 34 brings me much comfort. Wendi’s interview with Ken mayo was one of my first videos. Keep your chins up you have much to be proud of. You’re loved by many still. Just know you are helping others and I continue to pray for all who have been hurt or left behind by the JWs. ❤

Another great interview. All our stories are so different and helpful. One of my sisters left several years before I got out. We both created successful lives for ourselves and our families. Our older sister who is still in all these years later would have a weak moment and tell us she is not as strong. So, yes, we are strong women!!! Thank you Wendi and Karin.

Loved this interview! ❤️ So relatable. This is what people that are leaving need to hear and see, completely normal, relatable, kind women. I went through hell when I woke up 5 years ago. I don't have my mother anymore either and it has been one of the hardest things about waking up but you are so right we are sooo much stronger than we knew! And it's hard at first but it gets better for sure! Big Hugs to you both!

Excellent interview! I enjoy Karin’s content on TikTok as well. The piece you had on staying busy and making up reasons why you couldn’t do something and even the sick part was right on point. My mother was the same way…too sick to go to meeting? Then you can’t do anything else…pretty much need to be on death’s door. Again really well done and thanks for sharing your story

Thank you for sharing your story. I love your TikTok! You saying “you are strong enough” resonated so much with me. I was dfed for choosing to marry my husband who is the father of our child. Before I broke the news to my family he would make me repeat the phrase “you are strong and you can do this” it helped so much! Sadly I was still mentally in to a degree and I went back for my family. Now I’m facing telling them the truth again and it’s terrifying. But stories like yours helps so much
