Always baffed when i see others paint with contrast paints not knocking em from this video and others u can get great to amazing results with em I somehow always end up with a gloss look to em 😅. Also would you be doing a video on the chaos riders from the start collecting box?

A glossy finish? That is odd. Don't mean to sound patronising, but do you shake them first?

@@WePaintMinis all good and yea I shake good for bout a min the only ones out of my collection that dont really do it is Skeleton horde and Akhelian green

Hmm, I would take them back as they appear to be faulty. they should be relatively matte.

Definitely sounds like they might not be getting shaken up enough. Sometimes you shake them for a good two minutes and they still leave a glossy effect in the shadows. The best thing I ever did was buy a bunch of stainless steel ball bearings! Chuck one in each of your pots and it'll help mix up the paint when you shake it a lot!

Neat effect Do you thin the contrast paints with medium at all or did you apply these all straight out of the pot?

Thank you! Straight out of the pot. Just be sure to wick up any pooling contrast

Awesome work! The only contrast paint I use is Snakebite Leather, but I think you've convinced me to pick some more up!

Wow! Thanks for the video. I just stripped my screwed up Stormcast. I bought a couple of contrast paints to start and was just going to do the Nazdreg Yellow for the gold armor. The metallic first is genius. I was going to start painting this evening and ran across your technique, now I may start at lunch today because I'm so excited.

@@WePaintMinis Just the armor parts similar to yours. I'm just starting and was put off by GW recommendations of spraying with Retributor Gold. Your tutorials are very helpful, I only have about 10 Contrasts and the Reaper starter set, I never thought to combine different types of paint to get different effects

@@RoderickPommier Well, welcome to the hobby my friend! :) Yeah, you can mix and match different types of paints to get different effects. Some people use the texture paints to add dirt and grime to their models too. Lot's of applications for many types of paints. Glad I could help. Any questions, feel free to ask. :)

im a little lost, is there a part missing? it goes from this blue looking armor to the teal look at the end of the video but i didnt see you painting it.

The blue/teal are the same paint. It goes on quite dark but dries lighter and the result is also dependent on the undercoat. Used a silver on this. Thanks for the comment 😁

@@WePaintMinis I guess it takes a long time to dry? Also at the finished picture it looks like you added high lights to the armor is that the effect from painting the silver base?

@@Dereck1234 It has a slightly linger dry time yeah, like a shade or wash. The metallic highlight is the base coat yeah, the edge highlighting is added on.
