Here is a quick guide on how I get ready for a Bahamas crossing on our Bahama 41. While I am pretty thorough with the steps that I got through, it really is not too large of a task. In summary I check the motors, check my safety gear, fill up with fuel, check the weather, check my systems, and then plan my route. Having done this trip as much as you do, with 2 to 3 foot seas how long do you expect to take?

In our boat I expected it to be a 4.5-5 hour trip and we ended up doing it in a little over 4 so made a little better timing than I exoected

I noticed you did not mention checking in when you return to the US. As there is no coast guard station in Stuart where your dropping off your guests and no station in sebastian as I live there. I was wondering how you deal with your return to the US. I’ve made this trip to the Bahamas a few times and tried serval different method I’m just wondering which you chose to use most often? Thank you !! 🙂

I am actually going to make a separate video for the customs process for both the US and The Bahamas. When coming back into the US you usually do not have to physically go to customs. Online you can buy a Customs sticker that assigns a customs number to your boat that is good for a year (you have to renew every year and the number stays the same). If you have that then clearing customs when you come back into the states is all just done through the CBP ROAM app. So there is no need for physical reporting unless you are notified to after you submit your arrival on the app. I have never once been notified to go to the nearest customs office.

@@NickOlinde Hey yea thanks for the update and looking forward to your in-depth video on the whole process. I did the whole sign up thing back in 2014 for returns to Sebastian and the first time I called to check in I called in to Coast Guard and they cleared me. once I left the ICW and headed to my dock the FWC ( two boats ) were waiting for me and by buddy a half mile from my dock. 🤔 what do you think are the odds of that ? anyways I been playing it different since then. plus I know they have changed things up with the app and boat numbers. anyways Thank you !! 🙂 for the info and looking forward.

@@samhouston6310 o wow! That is insane haha maybe it was because the USCG cleared you and not Customs and Border Patrol. Who know. But the ROAM app makes things VERY easy! I’ll make it a pretty in depth video!

Great info. My Son's Girlfriends family is From Hopetown and I want to run my 27 Dauntless across w twin 225's. Her Dad has done 50 times and says yes I can, What are your thoughts? Want to go end of June 2025

Can we see more REAL boats (smaller single engine stuff)? Bahama's are well-built no doubt, but that thing's more like a barge. Just doesn't give you that feel like you're really part of the water like a real boat

@@sawmaster6095 I actually want an Albury 20, but sadly not yet. I have a 23 Albury, an 18 Hewes lappy, and a 16’ Egret and I am planning some content with every one of them soon!

@@sawmaster6095 For its size, the 20 Albury is a hands down the best riding boat that I have ever been one. Absolute beast of a boat.
