Body bag is my happy place song. I get so much serotonin and dopamine from it, it's crazy. Learning the vocals in my spare time for the fucking fun of it.
I discovered I Prevail recently and I've been loving their stuff. Been showing them to friends who don't really listen to scream to try and get them into the genre more.
@@charliewaterson8401 He is serving the band’s music. Show of a mature musician in my opinion. Even with guitarists and stuff, serving the song, serving the band’s music and not showing off for the sake of it is musical maturity.
I’ve been trying to learn how to scream myself. I’m calling out to people in the comments who can already do vocals like this, is this way of trying to practice along (hoarse throat or not) then eventually just getting to a point where you can do it without a sore throat?
Hell no dude!!! Listen man, I’ve been doing this for almost 2 decades. Never “push through the pain” you will end up in the hospital getting vocal cord repair surgery and you’ll never sound the same musically, or just regularly. If it hurts, you are doing it wrong, that’s not an opinion that is 100% fact. Use your diaphragm, you should not be using your throat to scream. If you want to know what I mean by using your throat, listen to some Norwegian black metal or something, most of those guys use their throats that’s how they get those demonic sounding highs
If it hurts you're doing it wrong, try something different and try again. Find a distortion method you can comfortablely make and eventually project it into a scream Most importantly - DIAGRAPHM DIAGRAPHM AND PROPER AIR USAGE will get you a long way with screaming and is the driving force. If u suck at using ur diaphragm then ull suck at screaming no matter what. Keep trying until you can do it pain-free and listen to your body
If it hurts you’re definitely doing it wrong. I’ve always been able to sing and hit really high notes. Always tried to scream, but never quite “got it”. I watched a ton of videos and finally I saw a guy explain some scream sounds and he was mimicking throwing up in how to use your diaphragm and trying to make a screaming sound using the word “hut”, but without using the T and making your throat rattle. I tried that one time and I finally “got it”. I can do it now and I’ve never been more proud! Hit me up and I’ll send you a recording of what I used to sound like trying to scream and what I can do now! Good luck to you brother! 🤘🤘
@@bryantlong6522 thank you man! I’ve noticed that it’s a lot easier in the shower, I usually put on some spiritbox and it’s really fun, but I can’t do it any other place unfortunately without it being really quiet or just really weak and squeaky
@@jimothymusic Where I live we drive everywhere so it’s easy to practice with loud music in the car. But I’ve found that screaming doesn’t have to be a loud thing at all. For me it’s usually a little louder than a normal talking voice. Good luck to you brother!
Sooo, how does one scream like that? I’m not able to even remotely imitate screaming in music. It’s really annoying bc I want to sing along. I also have vocal cords dysfunction so I need to be careful about it. Any suggestions?
As with most new things, you will fail at first. So, you just gotta embrace that. Take your time, but stay consistent playing along to you favorite songs. Eventually it will click. Just like getting in a routine at the gym ya know?
i love I prevail but it's kinda sad that eric doesn't have much space to really show how good he can scream, dudes u should listen to the songs dead behind the eyes by oceans ate alaska and foe of the inhuman by brand of sacrifice and you'll hear some demon noises u never thought eric does it
Or just go see them live. Even in 2016 after I saw them live I had that thought of he holds back. Live he sounds like a demon straight from the 9th circle of hell. And this is coming from someone that’s seen, bad omens, born of Osiris, asking Alexandria more than I’d like to admit, BFMV, Periphery, thy art is murder, all that remains Killswitch, etc. Eric doesn’t hold back live and really makes the songs worth seeing live 💯
But also in their I Prevail's songs has very good screams...songs such like "Heart vs mind", "Face your demons", "Gasoline", "Already dead", "Bow down", & "Love, lust and liars.
I recently developed a machine thay stores live Beehives on my farm here in Florida. The Bees wpuldnt keep up with supply n demand so I turn machine on and what it does is shake the Beehives like a Paint Can Shaker. I have a remote so I can see the honey bees from a distance get so Mad but doing this results in MORE HONEY then normal. I have it patented so dont try and steel my idea
I wonder about the quality and energy overall of what we are consuming when we consume products that have provoked anger tied to them (unreasonable hours)... Or fear (paycheck to paycheck)... Imagine the feeling a regular diet of fast food (or commercial music) must leave us with...
I wish this serious actually told us how they do it. I push play hopeful… and am let down by the lack of actual technique. Obviously we all watch thinking our fave singer is going to tell us how to do it (so that we can too!). But nope. 🤦♂️
