I think we need overnight stays at hospital settings just like drug and alcohol addiction.

They have places like that. They are stop smoking retreats. I bought a vape to help quit. so, wish me luck.

I agree why can't they come up with something that actually helps with the withdrawal..they can come up with pills for every things else

You’re doing it wrong. You have to overcome the mental addiction BEFORE you quit the physical act. Read Allen Carr’s book. You smoke, because you believe it does something for you when in fact those are BS illusions. Physical withdrawal lasts 2-3 months, with the worst of it over in about a week. Beat the mental first. You don’t need a retreat. Believing that means you lost the battle before you even started. You’re stronger than you think.

Good for you! I just made it 17 days. It has been anything but easy but I didn’t want to grow old later in life still smoking or gasping for breath one day❤

I just made it to day 17. I was exactly the same way. 24 hours and I would go buy a pack immediately like clockwork on the 24 hr mark. I then smoked a whole bunch of cigarettes and planned my quit day again for 5 days later and stuck to it. It sucks, I’m tired, irritated at times and don’t feel great yet lol .I think about it a lot but I keep telling myself I am stronger and I am not turning back now. The first 5 days all I could do was sleep due to brain fog and exhaustion. When you get to the point where you just want to be done with it, you’ll quit. You can do it when the time is right. Xo

I am smoking free for 7th year straight. 18 years of chain-smoking ended in 2017. My advice is to leave your smoking friends.

I smoked for almost 40 years, and what finally got me to quit, was when my wife's father (a non-smoker, but his wife was a chain smoker, that smoked in the house (which is one thing I NEVER did) was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Watching her agonize over losing her father (he was her HERO, and one of the finest men I've ever known, who fortunately, passed very quickly/didn't linger on) was a slap in the face. It made me realize that I could never smoke another cigarette around her, or really, at ALL, ever again. There is no way I could watch her, tending to her father, with a brave smile on her face, so her Dad wouldn't worry about her, and then take a smoke break outside. It literally whipped my urge to smoke's ass. And so, after scores of failed attempts, and slowly realizing I was never going to lick it, I DID. I haven't had a cigarette in 2 years. Every once in a while, if I'm out, having drinks, and folks are lighting up outside, I'll catch a whiff of a freshly lit heater, and the craving will hit me hard, but it lasts just for a fleeting moment.
