I’m forever under 2k irating because I own almost every piece of oval content and I just jump into random car and track combos with zero practice. I usually never run the same series twice in a week. Or even the same series in back to back weeks. That’s how I don’t get burnt out and keep it fun. Sucks for irating but I enjoy it.
I’m on the verge of surpassing 2000 irating for the very first time, primarily focusing on both the open Xfinity and trucks series. I feel like I get my best results out of those series.
Honestly, I think you've chosen the correct path. Content creation is a talent all on its own, and you've been doing an excellent job using iRacing as a tool to make content, I'd even argue from a fiscal standpoint that's a safer more worthwhile endeavor

Second: France. ⭐⭐⭐ Maybe I'm wrong, but I think because of how complex the game is, you have to dedicate time to it (besides equipment, I have a humble G29), in a pandemic I was able to raise my irating, I tried to learn from everyone, the high-level ones, the low-level ones even, but later when the work factor and other issues come in, I stop playing for a month or more and when I come back I am very rusty and people who were behind me surpass me. Today for example, I still haven't finished work and I'm so tired and hesitating to run the Daytona 500 tonight, but hey, I'll take your advice for the future! Now for the 8k!!
I have found a similar thing on the road side, open wheel series tend to be more volatile so it can be harder to increase or maintain your iRacing because you have more bad results due to wrecks. Some years ago now I ran the FR2.0 quite a bit, I then switched over to the P Cup not long after it was first released, the competition was stiffer and I expected my iRating to suffer but it actually went up just because I was finishing nearly every race rather than being wrecked every now and then in the FR2.0.

I found that when I just race, not worrying about irating or safety rating, I still gain irating. It becomes so much of a stress and annoyance when you’re not driving because you love to race but because you want a high irating.
I'm glad that I came across this video, and I definitely plan on joining iRacing, and I want to eventually want to go pro, but I am willing to put in all of the blood, sweat and tears in order to do that. And..... I want to put in effort into racing in real life, because it gives me experience in reality.... but I would prefer to take it one step at a time, and most importantly, like you said I want to HAVE FUN. And wherever the results land me, I want to be there because I HAVE EARNED it......
One of the most important advice what I can give is do not take the game and Irating/SR too seriously. Just go for the races, have fun, do your best to drive clean. It really can help. Of course you can get caught up in crashes which aren't your fault. I also only drive on Road, so for Oval racers I cannot give too many advices. Maybe you shouldn't take any from me as I only have 2650 Irating haha
I think there is value in trying more than one car and discipline... especially a guy like myself who came into iracing w/ not really any relevant simracing experience. While I've lost quite a bit of IR focusing on the Xfinity car this season, I think the skills acquired by learning a harder car like the Xfinity will make me a better driver in the long term.
For what it is Ive been on iRacing since 2015, have 3615 iRating on asphalt oval and just under 850 starts with 26 wins... Dirt Oval Im up floating between 4800 and 4900. I am teamed up within a setup shop tho so I dont have to worry about setups as long as I can stay there. Have 533 starts with 49 wins exactly... I dont practice at all, I just hop in and race and Ive never really ever actually practiced for a race intentionally. I actually feel if I spend too much time testing and running open practice I start running terrible... I also was only 24 spots off of making Dirt Road Jumpy Truck Pro Series too... While I might never make Asphalt. I have good shots at Jumpy Trucks, maybe RallyX if I went at it and maybe Dirt Oval.. Mainly due to the fact I might only race one NiS Open any given week and during the winter months maybe a select few C Class Street Stocks... As for the road side I just run it to mess around on and to hone the road side skills. Im just under 1600 but I have enough translational knowledge to bring over for Dirt Road and whenever Nascars run a road course that I dont totally struggle
I don't farm on purpose, because I enjoy the variety of cars and tracks. As soon as I focus lets say top20 modified I feel like its a burdain. I just run whatever I like to and enjoy IT. I am always doing my Best, and it means I do improve race by race. One Day, I'll beat all the Indycar beasts in this game 🤣🤣🤣💪💪
I've touched 2k on road twice, and both times I honestly hated it. My pace isn't good enough to naturally run with most 2k+ drivers so once I got there I was perpetually in the top split getting driven away from and it simply wasn't fun. I've changed the way I play and just hop into races with minimal practice in cars I'm familiar with, and my irating fluctuates between 1590 and 1750 or so and I'm much happier, getting into better battles and enjoying my racing experience more around the people with whom I share similar pace.

It would be cool to have a new, secondary iRating that is only attached to each track. Then average all your track ratings across all tracks and disciplines to get your True iRating. This would tell us who's the better racer OVERALL throughout every discipline. And it would weed out the specialization drivers from the very best.

Man, I decided to say screw my Irating the other day, and even if I get wrecked out by some means, I’m having more fun racing than just waiting for the right lobby.
For me i know im not going pro because i enjoy racing in the older Nascar Series and probably just focus on Indy Car both road and Oval just because it looks fun.

I was at almost 3000, then I did some super speedway racing and dropped to 2k and lost my safety rating. Now I'm stuck in this curse where I keep getting caught in wrecks. It makes me hate irating. With a passion.
You're going to go back to your irating from before. Try not to be an obligation, but a motivation. Otherwise you will enter a mode of feeling pressured, forced, nervous and it doesn't help at all, you end up hating it as you say. It's a game, you have to have fun, nobody asks you to recover your 3k in a certain time, run relaxed, enjoy each race and sooner or later the results will come.
@@gerardosubire they give you hell if you have a low iRating is what they do. Love seeing people get all riled up at me over a number. You want it, go get it, you don’t want it then enjoy whatever split your in meet some people and it’ll feel more like a league.
im at a 2000, i dont know why its so hard to break that 2000 level though, seems every time i get in a race i get the #1 car and get smoked lose rating, ill get to 2100 then back down to 1800, wtf, is there times during day or night that gets me better chances of not getting the #1 car?
