The first time I took the test it came out that I was an INFJ. I did not know anything about cognitive functions and I honestly ignored it because the result had nothing to do with me, but when the MBTI at university I had to learn all the functions (by obligation lol) I thought it was INTP, but a week later I went back to read and realized it was ISTP. I am 100% sure I am an ISTP and I really like it. Glad you re-uploaded videos.

I was just about to make a comment, and I thought I’d scroll down a couple comments, and there was my storyline. Literally last year I thought I was INFJ with high Ti, then an INTP with low Ne, only to be 100% certain of ISTP. 💀 I was relying too much on my Ni. Only with the need to use Se have I realized how much joy it actually brings me.

I finally realized I was an ISTP when I noticed how terrible I am at abstract subjects aka that I have Ne trickster and can't dissect vague things people are saying. I respond well to direct communication and pretty much nothing else. For the Ti part, I myself also loved mechanics things when I was a kid: I remember taking apart a clicky pen and put it back together just to figure out how it worked, and I did the same with a snappy hair clip / berrett. Plus, I loved science shows like magic school bus and popular mechanics for kids, and I hated reading fiction, again especially where it was filled with lots of confusing / poetic ways of saying things like with personification. An example of that being, "the leaves were dancing in the wind". I took those things too literally which is a sign of being an SP I think!

I love Personality Junkie! I learned so much from there. It was the 16 personality test on Crystal Knows which first typed me as ISTP, though.

Hi Veronica. I am an ISTP and I love your videos. Thank you for doing these, you do genuinely help me understand myself, even though I am a male. I relate on a whole lot! I didn't just take the tests, but I talked with my psychiatrist and counselor about it and we all agree that this is why I am how I am. I always hated academic situations and following rules that never made any sense to me. I excelled in "applied technology" class where I had to build a maglev car, a CO2 powered racing car, and a bridge made out of marshmallows and toothpicks. I rushed the toothpick one but I still fared better than the rest of the class. I never did well in other subjects that did not have my interest. I always thought homework was a joke. I tend to "flake" on my friends a lot because I found something else that got my interest, and I'll spend a lot of time on that instead of hanging out. I'd much rather be alone when working on something like a model helicopter or something I just found interesting. It's a curse and I lost a few friends in my younger years who did not understand, nor did I. I knew as soon as I took 3 different tests and they all said the same. I showed my family the results and they just looked at me and said "yep, that's definitely you". I was always the one to tear apart a clock radio or some other device to figure out how it worked. I'm always happy when I'm working with my hands. I wanted to be a pilot but can't afford flight school. I used to love rollercoasters and I snowboard and want to skydive soon. I do love working on machines, but I am no mechanic. Mechanics are trained, I just figure stuff out. I am a truck driver, and all the rules on that make a lot of sense to me so I am 10 years going since I started, 0 preventable accidents(deer don't count).

ISTP 5w4. Mistyped primarily as INFJ, but also got results of INTJ and ISTJ. Had a similar approach to finding my type by going through each cognitive function and mapping it to its appropriate place in my stack. The convergent/divergent relationships between functions made sense why I would type as an INFJ (Ni/Ti and Fe/Se). Repression of certain functions and over functioning patterns developed during childhood to survive emotionally unsafe environments caused my Fe to act like a shield. Fe and Ti share an axis, so wasn't really until the last few years where my emotional safety has been stable where Fe could calm down enough for my Ti to properly engage. Functionally, the tests often gave ENFJ for most of my responses before I started a journey of self discovery in 2019 right before the pandemic.

I am so amused right now. The notes thing .. oh my ... I took notes. I still take notes. Sometimes, if I label the file well and save it into the right folder on my computer, I even reread the notes, now. But, yeah, in school (and at meetings now) I take notes and I learn more, I think, by writing them down. But, I am just never going to read them again. Unless it is to get something done, actually, like a phone number to call a particular office. And, that's like I will have random scribbled graffit looking messages. And, maybe that'll include a section with the name of the ISP, the modem address, etc. And, people will be like "What's the password for the modem?" and I'll be like "I think it's on the front inside page of the purple notebook. If it has pink writing on the back about car repair estimates, that's the notebook, anyway. For instance. I have one file that has some basic information I need repeatedly to help my Mom out. And, that is the only one I am sure to keep in any sort of order. But, it is still MY order, and not likely to be full on sensical to anyone else.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Laughing at myself. Great video. Due to my mind was unsure about N or S (common for ISTPs who are good with science etc, and tests that can seem like, "if you're an idiot you're S, and if you're smart you're N"). Due to my FOO I was unsure about F or T since I had to really apply my limited emotional intelligence as a survival skill. Yeah, therapy helped a lot later, and my T orientation is really clear. But I was NEVER, EVER unsure about P vs J. Every test came out 98% P or higher. 🤣 Nobody in the world has ever thought I was anything but P. That said, ISTJs are super easy to talk to because I feel like we speak the same language. I'm just very much about living in the moment, a cluttered desk or workbench, and sporadic obsessions. Total P.

I also used to type as an ISTJ. My mom is, and I think growing up I did my best to model myself after her (which is great, because she’s an amazing woman). But after coming into my own a bit, and living alone, I now consistently type as an ISTP. I find that I don’t resonate with most ISTP descriptions, but the cognitive function stack is very accurate! When I compare that with the ISTJ function stack, I wonder how I ever mistyped. 😆

I test very close to the line between INTP and ISTP, however, I'm way more likely to just go for it than an INTP would be like.

When I was a child, for the little money I had, I always created toys and I liked the idea of using materials to create them.

I wanted to be Thomas Eidison, or Tesla, or an archeologist. And, that is how I cook. I mean, I read recipes for entertainment or to cull needed info out of (like the temeprature to cook something I haven't cooked in a while) but I have only followed one all the way, in my life. Well, I think I followed it all the way, but if so it's because I used a substitution they specified. Anyway ... mostly, I buy what sounds like likely spices, and I do thing. And, that's why, irght now, I have a torn belll pepper and musthroom oven baked spaghetti dish (as leftovers) in my fridge. Oh, which was sauced with frehs cilantro salsa. that had fermented slightly due to misinformation about how it needed to be stored. It's amazing!

The truth is there is no such thing as pure type. It could be a mix.

My family and I took the test one afternoon as a fun thing to do (16 personality version). I came up as an ISTP, thought it seemed accurate and left it at that. Much later, (only a few months ago), I found out about the functions and the idea of how knowing these things could help in life. This got me evaluating everything through that lens, and just reinforced my ISTP result.

Sometimes trusting experts on a subject is a good thing, like when taking medical advice. " Trust my own judgement" "do my own thinking" is okay if you are smart enough, but a lot of people like that end up as antivaxxers, or holistic medicine quacks and we don't need more of them.

Yes but what is an expert? What do we consider an expert? There are plenty of cases of "experts" who are NOT good at their job because they cannot think outside of what they've either read in a book, or what they see everyday. You then end up with people dying of certain diseases undiagnosed because they can't fathom something outside of the currently accepted literature. Science is always changing, but people act like what's been scientifically proven cannot change... And yet it does change all the time when we get further data. Hell, a lot of the science that we believe at face value is just theory. It's well researched theory of course, but still theory. People act as though they're more correct because someone who is smart or has a degree said so, so it must be true. It's not insane to question something because it seems off to you. We obviously needed people like that when they were saying that the earth was flat. The real issue here is people being so sure of themselves (whether it's introverted or extroverted thinking) that they try to force their viewpoint on others. It's time that we all realize we can and are wrong frequently. We are living through this life and none of us know for sure how things work with 100 percent certainty. Don't misunderstand me, the scientific method does indeed work for what we need it for, as a map to navigate our world. The issue is, just because it passes the scientific method enough for it to be deemed truth, it doesn't mean there isn't a layer of the equation that we are missing due to not being able to observe it. That's one of the many reasons that science keeps changing, we have better tools that can monitor more of the world around us. Hell, scientists just recently discovered that evolutionary mutations aren't as random as they once thought. Our idea of evolution will need to be updated in the future no doubt.
