This is exactly the video I needed to find! I recently got a Maschine+ and new guitar to mess around with, but wasn't sure what the best set up would be to get things started. After watching this I know now for sure Audio Interface is the best way to go, and directly into the M+ is a work around for convenience. Thank you for taking the time to make this, I really appreciate it.

Really thanks Jeia.This is the most helpful tutorial and the first which succesfully explains how to integrate guitar or any analog instrument to maschine, and every option detailed. You rock!

I bought the plus and guitars and other crap(thinking I can just connect them together and jam) and you are already doing it. So thank you for to the point. Enjoyed content again ⭐️🥳 now I have played with my new MK3..your videos have been a great help 👍 My latest path to recording in stereo is: I’ve linked up cables direct from OUTs of my desk...Meaning every thing I record goes to sampler..( any source ) Helix Rack. / Vocals / Di Bass / Its one Mutha of a sampler this MK3...my first experience with sampling goes back to 1990 with Akai. S950...Oh My God how things have changed.

Very explanatory video (finally!). I am baffled by how difficult it is to find a video on just looping guitar + other sampled effects in ONE device... my question is now - is it possible to do all you do with your hands, with your feet... as typically guitar players have hands busy playing guitar? I mean via a standard footswitch, not actually pushing the Maschine pad buttons with your toes! Thanks!!

Hi Jeia. Thanks for posting this. I’m still having a little trouble figuring out how to record guitar/vocals on the Maschine + in standalone. Is there a way to record a track within a group as a pattern and not record using sampling mode? I would prefer to record an actual track and not a sample as you would with any other instrument in the Maschine + library. Thanks! Josh

Hey jeia I have a machine+ and tried to do the same following your directions but I came into a problem with noise and interference from what I don't know, I noticed in your set up chain there is a di box and was wondering if that can help with the problem I'm having, you do great work too?

Hey this is really great content! Quick question for you. So I just bought a fractal fm3 and the Maschine plus is next on the list for me. Do you know if amp modelers would work in a similar way with the maschine plus? Because with an amp modeler it'd be like running a pedal board, to an amp, and then to the maschine plus. I'm assuming that would kinda work? Any who that's a pretty broad question, so don't feel like you have to give the perfect answer haha. Any tips would be legit. Thanks B)

What NI needs to do is allow recording audio directly to clips in the arrangement view. It's still very cumbersome cause you're stuck with sampling mode and there's lot of routing to be done to listen to VST sims. Peace! 🎶✌️

As mentioned here in Java’s videos. I’ve taken stereo cable from outputs of my board (XLR - Jacks) to Sampler INPUTS L+R. All my sounds via desk all can be sent. Although you need to be on Maschine MK3 for “recording “ any content.

NI fucking sucks. It's so wack recording guitar. I regret buying anything NI. It's like everything else is so nice and simple to bang out ideas but want to add some analog shit or guitar it's a nightmare and you lose your work flow.

@@Domn879 I’m using a machine MK II mikro and an old oxygen midi keyboard which I really like. I don’t feel a need to upgrade. I kind of would like a new controller maybe, just cause I haven’t bought one in a long time. I’ve been using my maschine with ableton to record these days as I’ve given up on using maschine as a daw.

My guitar -> Maschine route: guitar > Digitech RP50 guitar pedal > Mackie Mixer > mixer sub3&4 > Presonus Audiobox iTwo USB audio interface > MacBook > Maschine. The MacBook also runs into this same Mackie Mixer, but it’s an easy mix minus by just de-selecting the MacBook from the Sub3&4 output and only to the master out for Maschine monitoring.

Is sampling work, when sequences playing? What about sampling two sources (line-in and micro) and switching sources, while sequencer play drums?

Great video! One tip I picked up recently is to get a DI box to run your guitar through on its way into Maschine. Luckily I already had one and for some reason, it hadn't even occurred to me. The improvement to the tone and signal strength is amazing. :)

As a beginner with the maschine, i have learned a LOT from you and i love your style. i am trying to record my guitar and sample it with the maschine but i have a big problem right now. How do i get rid of the "delay" or the "latency"? it is almost imossible to get the playing right on the beat. i am starting to go nuts ^^ anyway, keep up the great work, greetings from germany

Hey, I know I'm very very late and you probably already figured it out, but open "Maschine MK3 Control Panel" (or whatever version of maschine you have) Sample rate: Choose 44100 hz Process Buffer: This is the setting that adjusts latency. The lower the number, the lower the latency. But if you have it _too_ low, your audio will start crackling and distorting due to not having enough memory. I keep mine on 64 Samples. If I'm just using one or two instruments that aren't too demanding on the CPU, I'll go down to 32 samples. USB Buffer: I keep mine at 1ms, play around with yours and see how it goes.

Hey Jeia. Thanks for this video. It helped alot. However . . . your instructions for guitar direct into the mic input worked perfectly. But when I try to switch to my external interface (Komplete Audio 1) I can see the signal on Maschine but can't hear anything. Am I missing something?

How do you sync your samples up after ?. I find it annoying that when you sample you don't have measures indicated on the sample. All I see is time from the start of the sample.

Hi, I have just a question for the last mode with external audio interface. You plug the guitar in the input of audio interface; then you catch the sound of the guitar via audio interface through USB choosing input sourse from audio interface, right? Thanks in advance. Alex.

I’ve tried both - without DI box the signal is weaker. When I made this video, I didn’t have one so I had to work with what I had. If you have a buffer pedal (like any BOSS pedal) or if you plug your guitar to your pedals first THEN to Maschine, you might not need a DI box. Worth a try!

so just saw this video, i see you got M+. . . how you like it compare to the Mk3? I am thinking about upgrading . . .but . . .I still got Mk1 though. . .and looks like M+ will give me some freedom from my old ass laptop of 5 years. . .what to upgrade? Laptop? or get a M+? :-)

If my budget is limited I’ll get a laptop upgrade since it can do so much more than music (video editing, etc if you’re into that kind of stuff). Unless you wanna ditch laptop completely and go standalone, then M+ is the way to go

Connecting the guitar directly to Mic in or Line In is not ok. The tone is affected and thin because of the impedance mismatch. The best way is to use a usb audio interface with a dedicated guitar input or connect that Zoom pedal to Line In. I do the same but I find Maschine’s line in pretty quiet.

Hmm, I followed the steps exactly (plugging directly into maschine) but when I play, there is no signal. My mic volume knob is turned up, guitar is plugged into the 'mic in' - I go to 'sampling', Input is Ext Mono, Monitor is set to 'On'. No sound though. I'm stuck. Edit: Also, volume on guitar is turned up as well. I'm just not getting a signal whatsoever. It works fine when I plug it into my Scarlett 2i2. Maybe my MK3 is defective...
