How I Save 1,000s of Hours // Remote Editing and Storage 

If anyone’s curious more about our cloud storage workflow here’s what we do.
After a shoot, project files (approx. 500gb - 2TB) gets offloaded to a ssd. We then create proxies and offload those or the original files to Lucid. Once that project is complete we’ll archive it on a drive as cold storage. We’ll repeat this process keeping about 5TB of usage in Lucid. This comes out to about $100 a month, not cheap but it is a vital cost to running a production company. The technology in this space is growing rapidly and is constantly changing. Would love to know what other unique storage options you guys are using?

Drew this is awesome. Im looking into remote editing at the moment. I geek out with data management, but can never really afford my own server or more robust solution. So I use a mix of NVME drives and old school spinning drives. After a shoot, files go on to a 4TB NVME working drive, but also on to a raw backup spinning drive. So there are 2 copies of the raws. The working NVME then gets cloned daily by Carbon Copy Cloner to a different 4TB spinning drive. When a project is finished it get archived and backed up on to more old spinning drives. Also uploading to Backblaze. I friend of mine had an 18TB spinning G-Drive die on him last week. Only owned it for 6 months. Had no backup system in place, lots a bunch of active, unfinished client projects

This is good stuff, I'd likely refer back to this down the line, I still just use SSDs and a larger HD at home for backing up lol haven't been organized enough with this type of stuff yet but the workflow would be much better if I did 😄
