We currently live in a mobile home as well. We call ours the rectangular living box. It’s an inexpensive roof over our heads while we pay off our 12 acres which will allow us to save money faster to build our forever home. Y’all are smart!

Thank you for saying it’s okay to open with a few really good things and slowly release things over time! A lot of people I talk to expect me to have a whole 3-5 product range for every skin issue when I open! I feel a lot better knowing that 2-3 is just fine for a start ☺️

I’m so glad I found this because I’m like you in the sense where I get really passionate about something and what to do all these things and then (for me) I burn myself out. So my new mantra has been, “slow it down and things will work out better” and you literally said this. I’m wanting to start my own skin care business and am in the research and development phase before I start selling online.

I have a strong mixer with a secret item added for hair growth and stop hair falling and dry hair, even make people relax and sleep well, tried by many of my family members it works fast and well for them and they all suggested to me to make a business with this mixer but I am 2 lazy , beside I am not social and this is a big problem for marketing the business. thank you for this useful video wish you all the success.

Tara Lee, your right startup for a business is very much an individual thing. I am a retired nurse. I retired at the age of 48. I could do that because I'd saved some money over the years and I had at that point also knew what I wanted to do 5 years before I retired and had been developing products during that time. Business start up is expensive.( If you have nothing) plan on between 2500$ to 8500$ and that is being selective in what you buy and having a written business plan. Having a written business plan is the single most important piece of development you need to have! It keeps you focused and on track of what you need to do. I suggest this is where you should start. Mine personally was 23 pages. It will broaden as your business develops. Always keep a copy of it in case you need it for the bank, the insurance company, etc. I also want to say have confidence in yourself, you can do it no matter what business you choose. Also pick a person to have your back. Hopefully it's your significant other, otherwise your best friend or family member. They will keep you steady when you feel unsure. Tara did an amazing job on this video!

Very good advice. So many people fail because they haven't realised how hard you must work or how difficult it is to sell someone something. They follow the "business school model", do a business plan with meaningless projections, take that to the bank and take out a huge loan. An expensive and dangerous loan. A sensible business plan I would strongly recommend, rooted in the advice you gave. Basically, a book of all your experience and findings. Don't borrow money, but save and grow slowly. This way you also learn your craft. So many businesses fail because the person knows nothing about the business they want to do. Sounds crazy, but watch those business type shows they have on TV. You will see people doing no research whatsoever. I recommend watching those shows as well. Well done on putting together such a sound set of advice. I wish your business all the very best. You deserve it.

From a business perspective and a consumer perspective. What kind of bottles and containers are best. Personally I prefer glass but glass is more expensive when starting out. I bought a bunch of plastic 1oz. And 2oz and 4oz bottles but I think professionaly it looks cheesy and feels cheep. So I think I’m going to have to spring for the glass.

So....4 years later. What do you think of etsy now? I've heard it's terrible and people are getting locked out of their shops for no reason. I would like to start somewhere like this but scared at the same time. What are your thoughts on etsy? Is it worth it for me to open a shop there?

i still recommend it for people who are just starting out, but once you start to grow even a little, go make a website and get your customers moved there immediately. Etsy will start to screw you over once you grow. I've had a lot of issues with Etsy that I haven't talked about publicly, but I still think its great for those who are just starting out.

Thank your for sharing. In Europe all cosmetics need a safety assessment and depending on the product, a lab test (check on germs etc). Also they checked the way you produce (separate location, away from your kitchen) hygiëne etc, register batches and supplies etc and you need to upload your recipes at a cosmetic portal. This all costs a lot of money even before you start. How does that work in the USA?

can you speak on how you aquired the percentage of the ingredients, you left that out for the beginners . For instance, like making soap , 1 ounce of jojoba oil , 5 ounces distill water etc. Is there a guide to follow. I'm brand new . I'm lost , because I don't know where to start.

Tara!!! Hey i have a question im thinking about restarting my cosmetics company and i watched you everyday when i first began but then i started working way to much and ended up closing. I changed my natural formulation for my chapsticks and lipstick bases but there is a really strong coconut butter smell. I added three drops of essential oils but the smell is still there and i dont want to add more essential oil because i know absorbing to much essential oils into your skin can be dangerous for your kidneys. I dont want to hurt or endanger my customers but what should i do?
