I just wanted to let you know that I watched your video Saturday evening because my boyfriend told me we were going to go out to a bar to have a couple of drinks after a BBQ we had to attend. I did my hair like this and it came out perfect. Little did I know we were never going to the bar, he actually PROPOSED to me at the BBQ!!! My hair looked chic-y deeky for my proposal lol

(Color is a different situation bc they will know if it's going to be too damaging to your hair) but for a cut, it may be that they don't know how to do it and they should just tell you that instead of forcing you to get a haircut you don't even want
