The templates are pretty straightforward. For example, our startup list posts all follow the same format. We literally tell a new writer: "Here's one of our existing posts. Replicate this but for [industry]"

Thanks Steve. Part of it was that ET is in a completely different industry (investing/market research than Backlinko (SEO/digital marketing). But it also came down to strategy. With Backlinko, I needed to create epic guides to stand out. But with ET, the tool itself did a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of brand awareness and links. So with that sort of in place from the jump, it made more sense to try to publish a little bit of a higher volume. There's also the factor that we have a writing staff here at ET. Which makes it easier to scale up! I was writing basically everything at Backlinko myself.
