As long as you have fun playing tennis and uploading videos, I will be rooting for you. You are inspiring, I really mean it, as a content creator and a videomaker, I know is hard to do such a high quality content and what I admire the most: to be creative and post videos every week. Man it is so hard to be dedicated and constant, I tried and I found myself getting bored of thinking what should I post next. So, aside to all the advices about rackets that you gave me, I really thank you for your videos, even when I wasn't looking for a racket I enjoyed every video so much and you really motivated me to doing videos again, hope I can create something as inspiring and funny like you did with tenncom.

Aloha Beckett, It was refreshing to hear your candid approach in your racquet reviewing journey! Although I enjoy watching your theatrical stuff 🤣, it was nice to see your serious side too. 🙂 I'm also passionate about the ART and SCIENCE of racquet stringing and equipment, with the goal of making tennis more enjoyable for everyone. Keep up the great content and contribution to the game! 🤙

Your reviews are always on point. I think when people look at buying a new racquet I'd say 80% of the time it's down to what their favourite pro players use (which is the worst way to make a decision, as most of them are using old models repainted), 15% cosmetic and 5% down to weight/playability/SW/TW/Head Size which are far more important. When I first got back into tennis a few years ago, I went out and bought a RF97, big big mistake and paid the price. So I did research, tried a few and found that 300g, G3, 63-65 RA, 100 inch head size (although have found 98 equally as good) was the sweetspot and then tampered with string set ups, which arguably is more important than the racquet. So many people are playing with racquets so unsuited to their game, if they did some digging it could change the way they play far more positively. Add in the right string set up then they will find the end of the rainbow, until a newer model comes out....

Another great video Beckett…100% agree, my first review on my Extreme Tours was an attempt to be non biased in a racquet review but watching my reviews again, they’re 100% subjectively biased😅and boring🤣🤣it’s tough, but your channel is sensational..An idea maybe for future reviews to show different perspectives from different styles of players..how about doing colabs with the guys you know and that all hit differently (yourself, MP Tennis and Jonas(Tennisnerd) for example? Or Flatter style players and more extreme grip players, different levels of players…all testing the same racquet with the same string and tension maybe..Or blacking out the racquets so no one knows what they’re using until the end, I’d love to do that with old vs new racquets blacked out and see if I’d pick the old ones.

Man, not many can step back out of themselves and take such an objective view. Great move! I always enjoy your content. After watching your video about how the 200 made you enjoy tennis again, I picked one up. Am I good enough to play competitively with it, probably not. But you helped me realize how much fun it is to play with. It doesn’t matter, like you said. Keep up the good work!

I think objectivity is super hard but it’s possible. For instance, 1+1=2 and pure drive is pure shit are both very objective statements.

This is something Dunkey mentioned in a video a long time ago that really stuck with me. His goal is to create a consistent ecosystem between his reviews so you understand what he likes so you can properly contextualize the review with what you already know about him, and if you find yourself sharing his opinions often then maybe you can use it as consumer advice as well. I've also seen this with certain running channels where they have a group of reviewers with diverse preferences, and the goal is for you to figure out who you are most similar to so you can take their advice since it's most likely to help you. But know that even though my tennis is not like yours, I will keep coming back because the videos are entertaining.

Super interesting what you report about Sinner's racket and that it is quasi good for his hitting technique. Is there any concrete information about which specs (MGR/I?) suit which technique (grip, straight/bent arm)?
@TennCom
@TennCom Месяц назад
I don't think we will ever see concrete information. Rec players are too inconsistent with their technique and pro's don't provide a large enough sample size. There are always crazy outliers. Like you would think based on technique that Dimi and Roger would have similar MGR/i but they don't. Dimi's racquet weight is closer to Rafa's. My loose opinion is that more extreme grips can get away with lighter racquets and higher balance points, but i think its more about what you get used to than anything.

I've been playing with several strings thes past 2-2.5 months. Only 2-3 of them, I feel, worth mentioning. It's super hard for me to play more than 2 sessions with a string setup that doesn't "wow" me at least after 30 minutes of baseline hitting.

I used to only use "reviews" from 1 source and then demo 4 racquets. Over time and 50 racquets later, the conclusion I've come to is in many ways the same as Mr. Beckett. It's personal. And it's why every maker makes so many models, every string company makes many strings and don't get me started on tennis balls. I can only add to the equation the M in f=ma. That M includes the racquet but also the string, grommets, balls, wind, ball speed. That's a lot of variable outside my arm. And speaking of my t-rex arm, it really like the Speed Pro but it can't swing the speed pro for 2+ hours which brings me to "my spec" which is different from almost every reviewer on youtube. SW 315.

I watched a Blade Pro review from TW recently, and it got me thinking just how outdated their review process is. They just go out on the court and say platituted they have been saying for years, like heavy racquet having good plough and spin racquet producing spins. Recent AC Tennis reviews are really pushing the envelope - I loved the Blade review so much, I watched it like 10 times, because it has so much insight and rich content on how the racquet compares to other racquets that interest me for every meaningful characteristic like stability or maneuvrability. I believe each reviewer shoudl build and refine a conceptual, relational map of racquets as a result of their entire body of work - this is something that I really like about some of recent Beckett's reviews. Not just rating racquets, that's often subjective, but understanding the trade-offs and grouping similar racquets conceptually.
@TennCom
@TennCom Месяц назад
Yeah, I see why TW's reviews are what they are. Entry level, consumer friend, retail forward. It's hard to expect much more when the reviewers are employees/contractors. Not to imply they intentionally hide things due to management, my impression with their videos is that everyone is quite honest and well-meaning, but there's never going to be the full range of freedom when you've got to report the boss. I always try to push AC to make more videos, but his structure is so rigid that regularly productions are essentially impossible.

I think it’s about the language you use. It’s ok to be biased as long as the audience understands that. For example with the Blade rather than saying “I don’t like this racquet” which means a lot of things say “this racquet doesn’t fit my playing style so it’s hard for me to judge.”
