It did work for me. Thanks a lot. I have a leather jacket size 46 that I bought 18 years ago when I was 180 pounds and muscular. Currently, I am size 38 and 164 pounds, yes very slim. I paid for the jacket $400 and I was hoping to sell it for $50 to $100 but nobody replied my Ad. I was about give it away or tailor it to my needs although I have no experience what so ever doing so. When I saw your video to shrink a leather jacket using a dryer machine, I thought: "If the trick does not work I have nothing to loose". I used your recommendations and the result was amazing! No to perfection but at least I can use my jacket again. Thank you so much for sharing. Cheers! I like to post how I did it so here it goes. Instructions: Washer Machine: Hand wash cycle, medium load (amount of water), COOL WATER to was and rinse. Dryer Machine: Select COTTON (high heat), Select More Dry. Run for 30 minutes and check if it fits. Restart and stop the dryer machine until desire fit. Enjoy!

I just finished shrinking my white leather jacket and I’m THRILLED with the results. You were right abt everything. The white is still white and the smoothness and beauty of the lambskin is exactly as it was before I washed it. It shrank abt 1” everywhere. Thanks for making me aware of this incredible process.

Thanks so much, this worked great! I tried this technique on my 1989 l.l. bean A2 goat hide jacket that was a size 46 tall. Before the arms were much too long and the torso felt baggy. Now it fits perfectly in both regards and looks way better now. I didn't have any fabric softener on hand so I just did a 20 minute quick wash with cold water, (no detergent), and put it in the dryer for 80 minutes on high heat, taking it out every 10 minutes to check on it. The knits were unaffected and I believe the '3M Thinsulate' jacket lining shrunk a tad as well, but prior to trying this technique the lining was very baggy to begin with so it was a good thing.

Literally found this video and successfully shrunk my allsaints jacket to such a great fit! Last twenty minutes in the dryer-- had it on high and then every 5 mins removed and spritzed water on the areas of the leather, I wanted extra shrunken. Sooooo happy :)

Must say I didn't think this would work. It did though, and a plus for me is it now looks a little more worn/distressed, looks cooler in general. Thanks so much.

Would have been nice if you put on the jacket before you shrunk it so we could see the before and after for reference.

I only fitted 2 but when I wear the 3rd leather jacket weeks later it was 2XL and I'm snug at L. I cannot return it because I'm currently in dubai rn. Your methods works. Tried it twice though. Every cycle it shrink. Now it fit me perfectly. By the way the leather jackets only cost 50USD each.

could this damage the leather? Or dry it out? Do you recommend perhaps turning the jacket inside out when doing all this just to give a little extra protection for the leather? Also worried about wrinkles with lamb leather which is thinner than yours and not as robust.

Hello, thanks for the video. I`d like to try this but I don`t have a dryer, and planning to use the coin laundry. When you wash it at the start of the process, did you use detergent, soft detergent or softener? Or did you go the cycle, plain without the chemicals? please help

i bought a jacket and realized it was too big on the shoulders and arm length. i wasn't sure putting it in the wash and dryer but i said "hey whatever" sure enough it shrinked and now fits the shoulders and arms are shorter. Thank you!!!!

Hey Pauline, I have a 100% leather jacket. I need to shrink it to shorten the sleeves a bit. It's already fairly worn in and, being a guy, I like a little toughness to the leather anyway. Does the fabric softener help the leather to shrink or am I fine doing these steps without it? What's most important to me is that the jacket last and I'm assuming the tougher the leather is, the longer it'll last? Or does the softener HELP preserve the leather? Any insight is very appreciated. Thanks Pauline!

Got a few questions! 1. My washing machine doesn't have a "small cycle"; it has a "quick wash" cycle which defaults to about 36 minutes-is that too long? Would I be right to assume I should set spin to low or perhaps even none? Or would medium spin be fine? 2. I'm really unfamiliar with using fabric softener; how much would you estimate I ought to use? Would one leather jacket be considered a "small load", as opposed to perhaps a fraction of a small load? 3. Does the jacket shrink more if you dry it for longer? Or does the drying simply expedite the time it takes to shrink? And is there any risk to using too hot of a drying setting (e.g., high instead of medium)-even if not for the leather, then perhaps for the other materials (e.g., polyester)? 4. Finally, I have a 36.5" chest and a 44" jacket. Do you think it would be able to shrink that much, or does this technique mainly apply to smaller shrinking goals? I wonder if this could be done multiple times to keep shrinking it (within reason, of course)? I know that's a lot of questions, but I would greatly, greatly appreciate your response! I just bought a rare, one-of-a-kind jacket that's too big for me and was planning to have it professionally altered (a very expensive, time-consuming process), but it would be wonderful if I could save time and money by using this technique instead. Will this work with a real leather (suede) jacket?. The inner lining of the jacket is polyester though...so is that ok for the dryer?!

I'm about to to this to mine. The sleeves are the perfect length but the jacket is a little baggy in the arms (I'm tall and slim). Hopefully the sleeves don't shrink too much.

There’s: cotton eco cotton synthetics mix wool silk Bedding simple Ironing outdoor's clothes Sport I’ve put it on synthetics for about an hour (it was about medium dry?) And it didn’t do anything:( What program should I choose ?? (Btw I did wash it in washing machine and with softener)

Hey I have a problem with a jacket it's not a leather jacket but it's a letterman jacket with 80%wool and 20%nylon body with polyester lining but the sleeves and pockets are made out of genuine leather and some people say that you should use hot water to shrink it but you might ruin the leather sleeves and other people say that you should use beeswax to protect the leather and I can't seem to find a really good answer to my problem so I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this problem if you know a solution i really don't want to buy a new jacket since this one has all my patches (getting my embroideries and patches in this jacket assuming I'd grow into it and even if I have a few years left to grow it seems like my genes failed me) and letterman jackets aren't that cheap to begin with so yeah. Nice video by the way.
