How I will be making 2024 the best year yet - preparing for a new era (embrace fearlessly the unknown)
To clarify something I said: I have always considered the first day of true winter to be on the winter solstice, but I realize that many also consider November 30th to be the last day of autumn, so I suppose I’m ‘technically’ a winter baby, or maybe a fall/winter baby, whatever you want to think haha! Either way, I am trying my best to thrive during a season I find a bit challenging, so please give your best advice for making the wintertime extra cozy.

I wish I could be more productive but pregnancy is requesting I try to honor my energy more than usual, accepting days of discomfort and more difficult symptoms, so I’m doing my best to let go and I am grateful for those of you who are here. As a fellow content creator who just discovered you: After so many years making content I can really tell you that RU-vid works in cycles. Some moments are great, and then later it can be not so great. But then it goes back up. It always goes through these cycles and that's why I advise creators now to not take it to heart too much, especially you! You live a beautiful life away from this and I'd hate to see this stupid youtube cycle upset your peace. As you said, it's truly something creators need to accept and let go. Besides, people seem to love your content even if you don't upload often. Your videos take a ton of time to make, but eventually that's the quality your viewers seem to love and submitting to the algorithm would potentially sacrifice that. I think you're doing great!

Yess definitely! Personally i love her authenticity and how she makes her videos without trying to fit into the cottagecore predominantly but mainly uses her artistic rendition to portray what she thinks is meaningful and authentic and I think that transcribes into something even more beautiful (at least in my experience of viewing Paola's wonderful videos hehe

I absolutely love your new cottage painting. Wow! I have raised 5 children and expecting my 5th grandbaby. At one point, life was one giant whirlwind, filled with joys and challenges. It was go, go go! I think I even forgot to know how to relax. I did have my outlets, my garden, baking bread and doing crafts with my kids. But one day I remember asking myself, ‘What’s the rush? You’re missing so much!’ So even though I was still in the midst of raising kids, I intentionally started to pare down, bit by bit. The more I pared, the more content and in tune with my inner self I became. I made that decision over 20 years ago and I still am finding ways to simplify and enjoy the moment. I’m so happy I did and I’ve noticed it has rubbed off on my kids and grandkids. You seem like a young woman very in touch with being in the present, just remind yourself, it is a growing process, moment by moment, year by year and some years are just a bit busier. But part of simplifying our life is simplifying our inner spirit, where even if we are in the midst of chaos, we have this soft inner glow within us…I really think that is the key. Dear you are living a life I dreamt since I was a little girl, it suits your innocent pure non materialistic nature. I admire you. As for winter I was born in a hot climate in Asian country, living in uk for 35 years, I struggled with winter, short dark days until I discovered wonders happening under autumn leaves and frosty leaves. Woodlands are my new go to, in my 50s I am learning it’s all in our narratives and shifting the lens of thought and seeing what we can admire. Lots of love to you and all the humanity.❤

For me, Winter is a time for quiet reading while drinking lots of hot tea. I'm a gardener, so I spend most of the rest of the year outside in my gardens. Winter is a time to recharge my batteries, catch up on the stacks of books that have been waiting for me, looking through gardening catalogs, and planning next year's gardens. I absolutely love your videos, and welcome them whenever one appears. As the mother of 4 who is now in my elder years, it is so important to listen to your body and honor what it is telling you to do. How often you make videos is not nearly so important as taking care of yourself and your little one. I’m so happy for you and your husband. As for myself, at my age, I most enjoy winter from my windows, as opposed to being out in it. I loved it when I was a child and young adult, but now I prefer to enjoy its beauty from inside wrapped in a sweater or an afghan with a hot cup of something in my hands. Take, and be well. 🥰

Dear Poala, just hearing your calming voice is enough for any video. It doesn't have to be grandiose. One thing that helps me lay off the holiday pressure is to remember the story behind, "Silent Night." There was this one church that had a broken organ, but the pastor was still desperate to have music as part of the Christmas Eve service, so he asked a friend who played the guitar to write something simple that could be sung at the service. So, we have that beloved Christmas carol because something went wrong.

Thanks for sharing these warm moments ❤ For me, the best part of the wenter is having a delicious cup of hot chocolate next to the window while raining or while reading in bed 😍💗 For a strange reason, I only drink it in winter. My family and I agreed to share gifts for each other at the end of this year, I guess it's called secret santa (we will give the gift to a random name and it should be a secret), this year we will not calibrate because of the geno.cide war in G.aza 💔 but as it was a hard year we will do the gifts idea only. You sound so happy, and so much better - you have joy in your voice and face, with the excitement of your baby on the way. Your beautiful cat touched the flour with such a soft paw. I love your dog, and your rabbits, and your cat. The snow looks so magical. This time last year, here in West Devon, England, we had some snow - but this year it is raining and windy, and 13 degrees centigrade! Madge, my rescue greyhound is not keen on going out in the wet windy weather, but we must for her to do her business, and to exercise, as we do not have a garden here. I am so lucky though, as I am surrounded by fields, and it is very rural, and I love being outside in nature with Madge. Bless you, and your little family, both human and animals. I don’t know how much the RU-vid culture or pressures affect individuals, but occasional vlogs are fine. I am from Chicago but have been living in the West of Ireland for 7 years and though I don't miss the months of harsh winter weather of Chicago, I do appreciate and feel nostalgic for the beauty of a fresh snow in the winter. If anyone's looking for a a cheap traditional icing recipe for gingerbread, you can try 1 egg white, 140 g of powdered sugar and a few drops of lemon juice to adjust the consistency. The only downside is you need to stir it until white and glossy, about 15 minutes.

Although the lack of daylight can make me feel a bit glum, I love all the artificial glow from the fairy lights and candles- I try to really appreciate the cosiness, and baking 😊 my birthday is January so it used to give me something to look forward to after Christmas is over- not as fun now as an adult but I'm trying to use it as an excuse to treat myself, last year I went to the ballet and it was beautiful. Having events or occasions to look forward to is important to keeping the spirits up I think. And of course watching your videos does a great job too ❤

My favorite things in Winter are hikes, candle light evenings, and making new dishes to try. Thank you for all of your hard work on your beautiful videos. My mom passed away in Feb and I've been learning to live alone. Your videos have helped me slow down and start to make my small house (which was my mother's) my own. I was born in December and love the winter.. I always felt it was because of that.. there was a blizzard the day I was born I'm told .. I love my cozy fireplace and tons of books to read.. I make lots of soups for meals and embroider in the day time . We have learned to eat plant based so I read alot about that too.. there is so much to learn so I take the time in winter to do that.. I find winter very peaceful.. quiet

My favourite thing about winter is when I take my cross-country skis and go out onto the frozen and snow-covered moor on the other side of the path. There are enchanting little birch trees and the landscape is more open and I get a bit more of the rare daylight. Best wishes from Lapland!

I live in the northern Bay of California. The weather has been pretty great. I was always one to not be into cold weather or the holidays, but this year was different. I made the decision to embrace everything about it. When fall began, I felt good about the leaves turning those beautiful fall colors and now in December, I feel even better about the holidays. I am 60 this year, so it is time to enjoy my family, friends and memories 💚 All The Best to Everyone

Although it's not snowing here today we have been under the threat of storms. I find myself rather enjoying the peaceful, quiet, time of cloudy days and rain. After working this morning I've chosen to enjoy and give into the moment. Christmas lights are twinkling and we've had a good dinner. Just the sound of the T.V. playing and dish washer running today seem calming. It's so good to see you and wish you a very Merry Christmas but also I remember yiur birthday is this month, so Happy Birthday as well. Enjoy and wishing you much happiness.

As I watched the intro, with you and Aiger (I apologize if I misspelled your pupper's name) I thought it looked like a post card! Maybe make Christmas cards from this or blow up and frame. You do what you need to do. You are with child (congratulations!! You will make such a wonderful mom!) and that is your first priority. I just read from a another commenter, who is also a content creator, saying how RU-vid basically ebbs and flows, sometimes the there are better months than others. My winter season is full of citrus as i live in southern California and my yard is full of trees heavy with orange and yellow fruit. It's the very best time of year, still mild weather and sunny. I would need to drive to find a chilly cozy snow covered location so I always enjoy RU-vid and people who share their snow. Wishing you a happy holiday season.

I am currently here in West Yellowstone and took a hike by a nearby trail. Oh how I wished I could of captured the snowflakes falling from the trees and sparkling from the sun hitting them. Blue skies, 6 inches of snow on the ground and trees…winter wonderland. I may try to watercolor a photo and use some type of sparkle glue.

It’s so refreshing as a viewer feeling an excitement that comes from waiting and not having timeline expectations. I’ve had to change my interactions with the world outside my house to a more seasonal/unscheduled rhythm after having my kid and I end up feeling way more connected with content creators that DONT have a “reliable” or “set schedule”. Kid years are truly such a long season of extended change, luckily it’s long enough that we can make space for the changes

Oh, yes, here in Indiana we definitely have a winter season. I always wonder what it will be like "this" year. Sometimes we have a great deal of snow and cold and ice and some years there's barely any. I used to not like winter at all, but more recently, I DECIDED to like it. There are things I have time for in the winter, that I don't during the summer, since I work in our vegetable garden so much. In winter I can read more and spin more yarn and sew more. I hope all is well with you.

I’m 77 years old and I so connect with you. I have lived my entire life under the direction of others. Here in Eastern Ontario, Canada, the past week was absolutely spectacular - a veritable winter wonderland. First we had freezing rain that left a layer of ice on all the trees, and that was immediately followed by heavy, wet snow that blanketed all the trees. Where I live it snowed every day for about 5 days, and it all stayed on the trees creating the most beautiful scenery for an entire week until it rained last night (Saturday) and we woke to bare trees (but still some snow on the ground). I was so grateful to have such a long period of gorgeous views in every direction - I have never seen it last this long. Usually the wind blows it all away very quickly, but this year we got a wondrous gift. In some areas the trees were bent over double with their heavy load, and some broke, so all good things much come to an end.
