What other possibilities are there that I didn't discuss?
One of my theories as to why Yhwach couldn't see the silver arrow was because it was an arrow of "stillness." Let me explain: Yhwach could not see the Soul King or Mimihagi with the Almighty. Both the Soul King and Mimihagi are stagnant, or "still." The Soul King is in a constant state that is void of progression, life, and death. He merely exists without change. And Mimihagi is a being that actually _governs_ stagnation. And the silver arrow's purpose was to temporarily halt, or stagnate, Yhwach's powers. I could be wrong (and I probably am), but it's definitely food for thought. Great video, Jaymes.👍
you are correct about zangetsu limiting the almighty that's why zangetsu reverted to its old form to beat yhwach, because the true esscence of the quincy ability came back look back to when ichigo fought yhwach for the first time blut vene activated automatically well not exactly zangetsu came in contact with his true self and that reawakend his powers also with white a hollow is poison to a quince so ofc white had a part to play, with evidence yhwach was terrified of ichigos bankai that's why he broke his blade because his true bankai will ultimately render the almighty useless both omz and wz helped ichigo to defeat yhwach additionally when ichigo was using his horn of salvation he continuously attacked yhwach because he wanted to reawaken zangetsu to his Quincy powers
also the reason aizens ability worked on yhwach was because it was faster b4 the almighty so even if yhwach were to become any stronger there would be no way for him to render that ability useless
@@cmfkingmusic That is ALL head canon. There is nothing that indicates Zangetsu limiting the Almighty being 100% true. Unless Kubo tells us, it's all speculation.
TYBW arc was definitely my fav arc in Bleach. Everything just came together so beautifully & poetically . Now Imagine if Kubo was able to write the arc without any health problems. Can't wait to see what Story Kubo wanted to tell in the 2nd half.
This arc was like a culmination of all the best parts of Bleach and more, basically peak bleach. If the second half of the war is rectified in the anime Bleach can end on an amazing note.
Something _very_ interesting that was pointed out in reddit was that in Ch 127, Old Man Zangetsu says that to achieve Bankai, Ichigo needs to find the correct sword. And that he can only be defeated by that sword. Interestingly enough, we never see the shape of the sword Ichigo ends up finding. Considering what his new Bankai looks like though... it's quite possible that was the sword Ichigo ended up finding, and the one he killed Yhwach with. Another connection is that Ch 127 is titled "The Beginning of the Death of Tomorrow". Tomorrow implies the future, which of course connects back to the Almighty. Coincidence or not? Overall, I quite like your theories, though other possibilities might include: - According to CFYOW, the Hogyoku has a piece of the Soul King inside it. So if Mimihagi was invisible to Yhwach, Aizen who was fused with Hogyoku should be too. - Uryu using the Antithesis to prevent Yhwach from seeing the Still Silver arrow. - And Ichigo's quote about a "blade that shatters fate". Though this one could be more metaphorical than literal.
I don't think being able to see every possible future outcome necessarily means you're doing it 24/7. I don't recall seeing Yhwach explaining if he uses it full time or just when he wants. Great video as always, Jaymes! 🔥
@@corruptangel6793 In it's normal form he active his power when he have 3 eyes. When he is in "God mode" he active his power when he have multiple eyes. The fact is, you didn't see him always his multiple eyes. So he didn't use Almighty all time or see the future all time.
There's 1 little detail I don't think you mentioned. Haschwalth said Uryu's powers could counter the Almighty and Ryuuken said that Uryu is the only one who can fire the arrow. Those 2 details mean that Yhwach couldn't see the arrow because Uryu fired it with his schrift
Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but the way Yhwach was defeated was poetic, he couldn’t access his most powerful toolkit (and said arrow was only possible due to his willingness to casually murder his subordinates) and got shortly cut in two, this is the exact same thing that happened to his nemesis Yamamoto, all of this happened also by the hand if someone not even considered a SWP by Yhwach (Ryuken). If the cause of death for Yamamoto was softness and his unwillingness to use a human being to heal his arm, Yhwach was on the other deep end, and his cause of death was due to his lack of care for humans/impure quincies and pure quincies, much in the same way younger Yamamoto would have acted, bringing the clash of ideologies started by Yhwach on chapter 511 to an end.
I feel the same way. Having Yhwach lose his powers because of an arrow made from the blood of people who he stole power from and killed is a very cathartic way to weaken him. I think if Kubo hadn't been ill and forced to rush the ending it would have come off a lot better
This is well said, the problem as we all know was the rush and not enpigh time to flesh it out correctly in the way Kubo intended. Clearly Kubo had an idea how to end Yhwach and what needed to happen to get there but he had cut stuff out and clearly the story took a hit
I'll keep it real. Ain't no way it ended the way Kubo wanted. I refuse to believe that for even a second the way he was rushed and what not. Which is why my anticipation for the anime return is even stronger. Not because they're going to change a ton of things. No. But it's an adaptation. Meaning if he had a more thorough ending in mind, this is his chance to do it. As always.. Cheers Jaymes. Hope you're doing well. That goes for everyone in this community also. Stay safe and take care 🖤
I think Kubo ended the manga he wanted THEMATICALLY. The fight was rushed and seemed a little incohesive with the abilities and stuff. However, the message he put together in the end that encapsulates bleach through Ichigo, Aizen, Yhwach, and the others was perfect. One of the best final says in animanga history.
@@gregllo424 yeah thematically it was perfect, the execution was just lacking due to Kubo having to rush it for his own injuries. Kubo did the last chapter as he wanted and got the thematic importance of Yhwach’s defeat but otherwise the entire like 50-100 chapters were just rushed versions of what he wanted. Except the Gerard fight, Kubo definitely didn’t want that to go even slightly like how it did, he just needed a punching bag to show off all the power ups that characters needed to finish their development
While flawed in execution, the idea and thematics behind the ending were great. As for why he couldn't see the arrow, my headcanon is: Yhwach can't see the Soul King, and he himself was born from the said king so it's possible he can't see himself with the Almighty. He can't see the arrow since it's like a distillation of his own powers.
My theory: probably Ywach can see everything but not things about Ywach himself. Since to an extension the silver arrow was still something from himself and Zangetsu is technically a reishii copy of him
I’ve heard someone say that it was because of Uryu’s antithesis that the arrow hit Yhwach, which makes sense since it was built up to counter the almighty. Basically, based off of where the arrow struck from where the two were standing, Uryu used the arrow on himself and redirected it to Yhwach. How Yhwach could t see it coming still could either be from the antithesis, or he wouldn’t be able to see a future in which his powers are gone since he wouldn’t be able to see the future at that point.
My headcanon is: Yhwach can't see the Soul King, and he himself was born from the said king so it's possible he can't see himself with the Almighty. He can't see the arrow since it's like a distillation of his own powers.
Interesting theory, even though the ending was rushed I still think Kubo let pieces of what could’ve been and with the anime coming back it can be expanded... maybe you will be right 👀
I've seen like a thousand different theories on why he lost. All of them sound plausible but I'd like to hear it from Kubo himself. One can only hope...
@@morving7714 he can’t fight more creatively the blade looks like it was a rush job by kubo and to top it off he now looks like ur average generic swordsman with a big sword
Remember the scene from the soul society arc when Ichigo was learning Bankai. Zangetsu says “That sword is the only one that will cut me down.” Similarly to Ichibe stopping him from speaking his name we see these threads from early in bleach tie into the ending.
@@LuizAquino On the QnA Kuubo made, someone asked why the name Old-man Zangetsu tried to tell Ichigo in their literal first meeting was blacked out in the manga. By blacked out, I mean it looks like someone spilled a bottle of ink on the speech bubble Zangetsu used to tell Ichigo his name. Kubo confirmed that was because of Ichibe since his power is name manipulation through ink. Black removes name
The "500 year blood war arc" joke hits so hard Personally I like the ichigo-zangetsu connection the most but what I REALLY wanna know is, what would ichigos bankai have been that made ywach go apesh*t?!
It was because of Uryu’s Antithesis ability that helped them defeated Yhwatch that was why Ryuuken gave it to Uryu in the first place. Uryu can rewrite the present while Yhwatch can rewrite the future
I never made the connection that Yhwach was esssentially making Horcruxes with his Stern Ritters, until now. Holy shit. That's like crossover fanfic materials.
the ending is not going to be changed because thatll just trivialize the mangas existence, which is pretty obvious. but with the way they are allocating time for more important scenes theyll definetly expand upon the ending which is great.
Tbh the ending did felt a bit off but BRUH! Kubo went all out in TYBW! It was a complete massacre so many ups and downs, it was a hell of a ride! Also I always wondered what actually hado 99 did apart from the complete devastation of the soul society!
Seeing all and comprehending all are different. I think Ywhach definitely had a big ego, causing him to dismiss the little details like what Haschwald showed him. I think that all goes along with what you said though, great video Jaymes!!
Hey fandom so I specialize in explains how abilities truly work. By using speech, illustration and philosophy of the character. Yhwach, ability the Almighty is divided in components. First is basic precognition this achieved like observation Haki in one piece. By analyzing the release of reishi one can predict certain movements. This is solidified by stealing Bankai. Why simply Bankai holds the historical reishi of every Shinigami. When Yhwach absorbed the other Quincy he also took in the information of their reishi. With all this information basically hindsight. The Almighty is able to make likely predictions. The second component is able to transverse or manifest predictions. When Yhwach stated he can see every grain of sand. That's the first component. Able to leap to each grain of sand is being able to activatly use the information gathered. This also explains why Ichigo was his Achilles hill. Without stealing his Bankai no information was gathered. Next Kyoka Suigestu, it isn't as OP as everyone thinks. It is a reishi type that consist of nothing suggestions. This why grabbing the blade one isn't affected. You can't suggest something when reality proves it. The flow of reishi from the blade or Aizen was is it's first weakness. The second weakness Is the suggestions itself. Aizen composure and speech all are suggestions. Yet their also distractions to Kyokasuigestu. Knowing a suggestion is happening one can overcome. Yet the moment you forget you're trapped. Lastly the silver arrow given that it came from a Quincy doctor makes sense. Who would know physiology of Quincy better. My theory is Ururyu grandfather aided in Yhwach return. Like any doctor he took notes. I then created a fan made character in which someone modified hollows. But I digress that's actually a video I want to work on. Anyway if that research was schrifts or letters was the silver. If you can transmute by purifying it's attributes it essentially is a exclusive toxin. It was essentially a virus made from his reishi. The reason the Almighty couldn't see it because it was made from himself. Not to mention the biggest weakness of Yhwach was consuming the soul king. Yes he gained a massive power boost in all fields. Yet throughout bleach with been told time and time again. Mastery of power is what makes one dangerous. When the Shinigami lost their Bankai. They had no choice, but to develop their Shinkai and themselves. Yhwach held no time to master this new power. Rather allowing it flow endlessly Yhwach was at his weakest. Ultimately I wished people didn't say the fight made no sense. Also when Kubo health was declining his story telling improved greatly. Instead appreciate the flaws cause that's is the beauty of art. The flaws become this cascading scratches and colors that up close looks bad. Yet when taking a step back becomes a beautiful beautiful mural.
To be honest it’s more of Uryu, who ended up winning the day because people say he used his turn back time ability to turn off yhwatch’s the almighty for a second, not just the silver arrow though yes Aizen’s, kyoka suigetsu, probably had a part in things to, but a video I’d mainly recommend Mrtommo’s, video on The Almighty power, not to discredit your video it just gives better context.
Honestly I love the Ichigo vs Yhwach fight. It's poetic, cinematic and emotional. I love how when Yhwach is trying to guilt trip Ichigo there's no clever comeback from Ichigo. He just has this expression of "I'm so over this bullshit"
This is my theory on why Yhwach didn't see Uryu use the Still Arrow during his Almighty... I'm guessing that Yhwach's Almighty only sees futures of what's being shown to him at that very moment. Like during the fight with Ichigo, he only saw futures of just him and Ichigo from that exact moment, which is why he didn't see Tsukashima help repair Zangetsu. And during the fight against Aizen and Ichigo, he only saw futures from those very moment. And then Uryu came out of nowhere, surprising him. In conclusion, The Almighty works when events are being currently present to the user, and the user can only see multiple outcomes of that current event.
Many people overlook ishida's ability the antithesis and its role in defeating ywach and how op it is ,he can reverse the affects of anything that have happened between two targets and not just damage , I mean hHaschwalt literally said when he fought him that this ability might oppose the almighty, so my theory is when Uryū fired th arrow yhwach saw it and rewritten the future but Uryū reversed that affects of reality being elterd and the arrow hit him
There is also some interesting symbolism in regards to Yhwach and the ones that fought/defeated him. Yhwach is the son of God, who wanted to destroy the concept of life and death, and removing the fate/fear of being cast into Hell. The main three who oppose him, are 1: One of God's greatest and most gifted generals, who eventually rebelled, and become the Ruler of a realm of the dammed. 2. One who was once one of his closest followers, who then betrayed him, and caused his downfall with the use of a silver item. 3. And finally, the one who delivered the killing blow, was someone whose seemingly impossible birth was orchestrated by the aforementioned would-be usurper of the Throne of Heaven. So, the Son of God, was defeated by a group consisting of the Devil, Judas and the Anti--Christ. Which ties in really well with a lot of the Christian imagery and themes of Yhwach, the Soul King and the Quincy. And, makes the original line describing the TYBW as ‘the final HOLY war’, all the more fitting.
If Yhwach sees all futures like grains of sand like he said, then if he discards one of those grains he loses the ability to see or influence it until he finds it again. That's why why Yhwach says "I thought it was a nightmare you showed me." When Haschwalth sends him a faulty future vision. Whether or not he purposely altered it with the Balance or something is anyone's guess. Though I do think Old Man Zangetsu helped, hiding Ichigo's secondary Bankai due to him acting like a sheath and being part of Yhwach. Thus Yhwach couldn't see the second blade and couldn't alter the future immediately after Ichigo brought it out. This alongside the arrowhead allowed Ichigo to land a second fatal blow on Yhwach. The arrowhead itself or Uryu's Anti-thesis hiding that specific future. Yhwach then alters the future to bring himself back to life, but he doesn't have enough power to immediately do so again, thus, like when reviving himself after losing to Yamamoto a thousand years ago, Yhwach can only revive himself further down the line. 10 years to be exact. By the time he starts reviving however, his body is already gone, sealed in the Soul Palace, so he needs a new body. That new body he chooses belongs to Ichigo's son. But without his body and still not yet able to think (remember, it's a multi-part sequence and the mind only returns after the body) he can't see the future and ends up getting erased or whatever by Ichigo's son.
The ending of the battle all makes sense if you just assume Uryu used the Antithesis. Yeah its headcanony to say, but alot of narrative implications and plot strings point towards Uryu(and Ichigo) being the answer to end Yhwach
I always thought that when Tsukashima created the alternate timeline that Yhwach didn’t realize it because he has to actively look into the future, I imagine, and without knowing to look at that new timeline he didn’t. And that the still silver arrow negates his powers so even if he looked he wouldn’t be able to see that moment because his powers are gone at that point so without him having the almighty at that moment in the future he wouldn’t be able to see it in the present, like it would be a blank spot or blurry or something. Also that Ichigo has Yhwach’s reiatsu inside him and his zanpakuto and that is essentially Yhwach’s powers turned back on him making Ichigo more dangerous than others combined with his hollow abilities, he has to have both back when he kills him or I don’t see how he could even be in shinigami form or use his zanpakuto if he doesn’t have both sides of his reiatsu still inside him since his sword now requires both to Bankai. All that combined with the opening given to them by Aizen, who he would never be able to properly use the almighty on because he could warp his vision, gave them a window where he could be killed at one precise moment. Just the way I understood it, not a fact or anything. Also I feel like none of us noticed back then that Aizen had become so powerful in Muken that his zanpakuto gained a new ability, instead of just the 5 senses, he could change how you perceive time. Don’t even remember anyone questioning it, myself included, but he definitely couldn’t do that before. Thanks for the video as always, Jaymes
To be honest I do agree with this theory but I also think that Uryu was also important in why yhwatch couldn't see into this future cause of his antithesis cause we do know that Uryu wasn't affected by Aushwallin cause of it and he's able to reverse events and attacks
Something i just tought of , that the negating abilities aspect of Reiatsu may need the ammount you use normally to harden your body and all , Plus the amount the oponent has , so if you are significantes stronger than the opponent , you negate their abilities Like , let's say your enemy has a total of 10 Reiatsu , and you normally use 5 to casually and unconciously harden your body and all that , you would need 15 Reiatsu to continue your unconcious use and negate the enemies abilities
I think because both uryu and Yawach have same letter A as their schrift i think they cancel each other even tho it means anti-thesis wouldn't work on Yawach and i think zangetsu saw and hide over the only one in which he could see uryu shooting arrow or the arrow coming out of no where.
Jugram incompetency and Ywhach ignorance to Ichigo(Large sword form) potential is the answer. The arrow didn't do anything, it can't even kill him. The explanation is Almighty counter Almighty, we see this to Mimihagi. Jugram already "Accidentally" used almighty seeing Ichigo shikai form, Jugram warn Ywhach but he take this just a vague "dream". This is what he get giving Destructive weapon to his buddies, what could go wrong?
My biggest issue i will keep stating is there is one timeline where ichigo somehow killed yhwach or beat him with just his bankai so bad that in the current timeline he was like nah fuck it I’m not dealing with that like I get it was a smart decision but it was one of those decisions nobody wanted to happen I’m pretty everyone wanted to see ichigo got shafted and the readers got shafted
Love the video, there's just one thing I'm confused on. How is old man zangentsu not able to speak his name due to ichibe's influence if he only revokes his name during tybw?
My theory invvolves the still silver arrow. The main reason I believe the arrow worked on Yhwach and he couldn't perceive it is because it is in the past. The Almighty only gives you the ability to look at the future. He couldn't see the arrow because it is forged by the still silver. Jus like he couldn't sense the right arm of stillness in Jushiro. Either way the ending was done beautifully thematically and very poetic. I hope Kubo can clarify a few things in the anime with Ichigos zanpuakto and this final fight. Also make the aftermath of the war a bit longer before the timeskip.
His ego will never allow it, he’ll always play the “when people think of bleach they think of me” card yet he’s probably one of the worst performing views wise.
@@Mugetsu2021 dude is a decent guy. But sometimes I don't like how he unnecessarily gets involved in dramas by saying negative comments on other series. When called out, he'll say he was joking but when other people does the same with bleach, he gets serious angry alongside his sheep fans. I've been following him for many years. Recently he started attacking another bleach RU-vidr who happened to have gained many subscribers (more than him) in a short time and he commented how this guy (other bleach RU-vidr) uses wiki to make videos. I'm like if that's what he does good for him. At least he's making content and people care to watch it. But he is jealous because he isn't as big he is and the other guy never caught to his baits on RU-vid. Shows who's the bad guy here. Only thing Jaymes always claim when people bring criticism is that at least he has 'sources' to provide him leaks. So what? Its not like other people won't know later on officially when something drops. He seriously needs to work on how he presents himself. He talks all big but then begs for likes and views on twitter.
ichigo was the only character who could kill yhwach and zangetsu was the only sword able to kill him bc if you get back to the SS arc while he was traveling old m zangetsu told him that there's only one sword among all of the thousands that were there that actually can cut him and that was shikai zangetsu which explains why his bankai broke showing his original form when ichigo was about to kill him.
In my opinion yhwach is the soul King's quincy zangetsu as we know the soul King has the allmighty as well so it would make sense if zangetsu had some form of the almighty too
You know your theory has a lot of promise to it, because it’ll know I’ve just thought Ichigo was just so much more powerful at that moment there was no other future besides Yhwach dying to Ichigo. So thanks, it’s something to think about when watching the anime
So you're saying Zangetsu is like a horcrux lodged into Ichigo? Explanation: In Harry Potter, Harry has some snake powers that never made sense. But it was later revealed that the main villain accidentally put a part of his own soul into Harry. This resulted in Harry getting some of the Villains powers. This also resulted in helping Harry win the war. As it allowed him to survive a lethal attack. Like Voldemort, Ywach also fears death and has put his soul into various places. Ultimately, to ensure their own survival. But this, according to your interpretation, results in both of their defeats by conferring some power to their enemies.
Rally Hope that the Ending of TYBW animated is changed since Kubo was rushed because of his health. It wasn't bad, it was just less epic than anticipated.
i hate when shows make antagonist smart people and than let them do some stupid shit or let there overconfidence be there downfall , like are you really trying to suggest that no one except for ryuuken knew how to make a silver arrow able to stop ywach and that ywach himself didnt know that somebody would shoot him with the arrow? like f timeline, like did he have no common sense? even his goal was implemented last minute, cause he killed the soulking and its when the mimihagi showed up that he absorbed him. like did he have the power to destroy and create a new world before or after he absorbed him? but whatever. i also never understand how he went back down to the soul society. like, why? didnt you want to destroy the world and make a new one? why wait for the gotei to recover so they can foil your plan again? this man also had so many times to destroy the worlds, its crazy how soul society manage to win, but if you ask me, the script needed the rest of the plot to happen....

It was fitting and ironic that Ichigo a hybrid defeated Yhwach, a man madly obsessed with purity to the point of deadly paranoia. There were many things Yhwach took into account for his goals but like the others he failed to totally grasp Ichigo's sheer determination to stop him.
