Socio-political bias in mental health care is growing. Training programs, especially in the counseling profession, are inculcating trainees in the oppressor-oppressed narrative. Leading professional organizations in social work and psychology are taught, for example, to impose an identity-driven narrative on the client. Instead of treating each client as a unique individual and working collaboratively, the social-justice therapist reduces them to avatars of gender, race and ethnicity. How are these trends affecting practitioners in training in the real world? How are patients affected by this new philosophy of mission? What kinds of remedies exist or need to be developed?
Join Genspect’s Stella O’Malley with Sally Satel, MD, psychiatrist and AEI Fellow, Andrew Hartz, PhD, therapist and Founder of Open Therapy Institute, and whistleblowers Leslie Elliott Boyce and Suzannah Alexander.
This event will be recorded.
