is it necessary to use adapters in order to connect a bracelet to the gw-5000 ? (I thought the bracelet has its own spring bars that can connect directly to watch) Thank you!
Well done for your professional presentation on the installation of a combi bracelet. I recently got a GW-5000 and I would like to swap the resin band with a combi bracelet. I found the bracelet from a site called tiktox but the bracelet is for GW-M5610BC-1. Will it fit? Is it the same bracelet used on the M5600BC? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.
I can confirm that on a 5600J, the person cut the strap to fit and was able to fit the zulus w/o adaptors. The adaptors are like 12 and from casio directly even cheaper so if it isn't an asthetics thing then I would recommend that. There are casios (non-gshocks) that take zulu straps without having to cut the straps. If I can help further, feel free to ask.
I have seen it done on a 5600, I believe the person who did the mod had to cut the strap. Basically what you do is put the spring bars on without the adapters and just put the nylon strap through the spring bars. The problem is, at least with the 5600, that where the spring bars are the width is 16mm and with the adaptors you can go up to 24mm wide. What model are you looking to do this with?
Once you get one bar in the hole and get the strap pushed as far as possible towards that side, the rest is fairly easy. If you have trouble, return to that first sentence. The first time I did this took an hour of pure venomous frustration. It can easily be done in a few minutes if you comply with the first sentence. Good lighting is a must and I use a jewelers headset with strong magnifiers. If you need magnification, go to the drugstore and buy the strongest reading glasses you can. Get at least a 4 times magnification. Every watch enthusiast needs strong magnification, it is a game changer.
the G7710CL-3 uses strap adaptors so if you find the model # for the adaptor you will be able to put some on that correspond to the thickness of the G7710CL-3 strap adaptor. Otherwise, what I said before might work but you will need to cut the nylon strap
This video is excellent except for ONE KEY FACTOR: THE SPRING BARS FOR THE COMBI BRACELET ARE A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN THE ONES THAT COME WITH THE FACTORY STRAP. 16mm x 1.8mm vs 16mm x 2.0mm. YOU MUST USE 16mm X 1.8mm. IT WILL MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER.
