Here I explain just how interlocking can contribute to STRONGER locs, contrary to the misconception that it THINS locs out. hint: interlocking simply condenses the loc, making it appear slightly slimmer.
Enjoy!✌🏾🖤

✨SIDE NOTE : I get a lot of questions about my stretched ears, how I got them to this size (currently 1 inch!) etc. One thing I always say is LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, and take your time when stretching. Personally, I love ear stretching kits because they take the guess work out. Everything’s laid out for you and they’re super easy to stretch with!✨

Your locs are absolutely gorgeous and so thick and healthy. You are such a great example on how intelocking works on thicker locs just as well as thinner locs. Ive heard some say that interlocking can be damanging or make your locs extra skinny but once again here you are with amazing looking interlocked locs!! Awesome video!!

Tysm!🙂💚 My goal was just to inform that interlocking in ITSELF is not the cause of loc thinning (using myself as an example!). Interlocking simply compacts the loc a little tighter together, making it appear slightly slimmer or more condensed.

I think people mean ‘compact’ or ‘constricted’ not ‘thinning’ when they say interlocking makes locks thin. As in interlocked locs will be skinnier than retwisted locs.

Thank you so much for explaining this! I have a mixture of 3c/4a hair and struggle with it locing due to the retwist method. I will definitely be interlocing moving forward. I have about the same loc count you have, so im excited for the journey!

I have traditional locs, they aren't as thick as yours though. I'll be 2 years loc'd on January 6th, literally next month. I started interlocking my hair within 6 months of my journey. I started retwisting my hair myself and by literally the next day my hair would be a total mess, even if I used a super holding gel. I have like a soft curly hair texture, so retwisting wasn't doing it for me. Interlocking was perfect for me. My hair would be good for weeks, I could wash it and it would still look fresh. I like spritzing my hair with water and essential oils daily, can't do that with a retwist. The only product I use on my locs are water and oil. Thats another good thing about interlocking, you don't need products!! The only thing I hated about interlocking is that I would do it too tight 😅 and then my head would be sore as hell. But I've learned now not to do it too tightly, and not so close to my scalp. It still looks neat and still lasts for weeks, and I can still wash it and it'll still look good and no sore head😅. I interlock every 6 to 8 weeks, that gives me a significant amount of new growth and my hair is healthy and thick and the growth I have now is insane. I started with like 3-4 inches of hair and now my hair is 12+ inches long. 😊 I love interlocking and I'll keep doing it. Works for me.

Sounds like me!😊 I do all of that; spray daily or every other day with my water/oil mixture, and REALLY massage my scalp, like get ALL the way in there! Definitely couldn’t do that with a retwist; and maintaining some retwist is SO not worth sacrificing the blood flow stimulation and overall health to my scalp and hair follicles that those daily massages provide! Interlocking affords you that, so I’ll take it any day!!💚

Every 2 to 3 months is good for interlocking for me I don’t have hair growing away from the locs the beauty of tight 4c hair she is correct interlocking doesn’t thin out the locs if done correctly 4 years loc’d

Your locs are so beautiful! I’m definitely considering interlocking. I workout a lot and sweat in my scalp so washes are often and it goes without saying; retwists don’t last. I self maintain and am only heading into my 3rd month locd. Thanks for the info.

Same! I sweat a LOT when physically active and never wanted to be restricted to when I can or can’t wash my hair simply trying to preserve a retwist, so interlocking was the easily the best choice for me.

❤❤❤Thank you for the fantastic content! As evidence of the value of using healthy interlocking techniques to establish and preserve healthy locs, I noticed that you do not have the interlocking pattern.

i didn't hear if you mentioned how many times a year you interlocked? im only 9months in so i want to make sure im doing it right from now
@MargauxChanel
@MargauxChanel 8 месяцев назад
I didn’t mention actually, and never really thought about how many times I’d interlock in a year, but I’m gonna say roughly about 6 times, since I tend to do it every 2 months or 6-8 week range. Which isn’t a lot for me considering I only have 57 locs, so my interlocking sessions usually only take about an hour to an hour and a half every 2 months. Not bad at all! Maybe try that out? See how that works for you😉
