A GorillaPod and a Sony RX100M5A (24-70mm). Very discrete and not intrusive. Used it 2019 in Cuba.

I have been using Sony since 2018, The 7III and the 100 400mm GM They were my most used equipment for wildlife in Cuba, satisfied with the result and I still use the Sony line. I am happy to see a video about Cuba from this excellent photographer.

Working with a 'fixer' is critical if you are a pro. They help you find things that would take forever if you were on your own.

I've tried various combinations of cameras and lenses over the years and different types of bags. These days I travel with an AR7V, an a6600, a 24-70mm GM II, and a 70-200mm GM II. On my next trip I'll also take the 14mm GM, the 1.4x teleconverter, and a medium size tripod. I also like Tenba bags. The Tenba bag goes in a hard side roller which goes on the plane with me. If it has to be gate checked, I feel better if it's in a hard side case. So, my gear is "double bagged" and I have a carry bag when I get to my destination. Love seeing the people and bright colors of Cuba.

When I was a kid I dreamed of being a National Geographic photographer! I took some photography classes in high school and shot with Nikon FG film camera and a 50mm for years. When I had kids, I put it down. When my youngest was out of diapers and I was in my 40's I picked up a Canon 60D and quickly graduated to full frame. I now shoot weddings and family portraits. When I travel I struggle deciding which lens to use! It is so natural to use my 35mm which is my go to for portraits. I like to shoot wide and tight. I was surprised to see you say you use your 24-70 a lot. People often say to me that is the least creative lens. However, I find when photographing groups with children who move about quickly, it is easier to get the shot with the zoom! When I travel, I end up with a couple of primes and my 70-200. After watching this, I may just carry my 24-70 and 70-200 around the busier locales! Thanks for your input. I also know you had to work very hard to become a Sony Ambassador and appreciate this work!

I love seeing what camera gear people pack and what bags they use. What surprised me in this one was the amount of gear. Obviously not carrying it all at the same time given the day bag size. I personally find that many options crippling (both physically and creatively).... but I guess thats what you have to do if you shoot for national geographic. I would definitely travel lighter though :)

I did bring a lot of equipment - and the production crew was also shooting Sony so we were able to share. Though i have a lot of gear there are times when i will go out with just one camera and one prime lens. I am very lucky to be a Sony Artisan and have access to so much great equipment

A lot of gear for sure. I wanted people to see is available. I probably do 80% of my images with a medium zoom. But the other 20% are when you need the extra glass. Being a professional and having to bring back images means carrying a bigger load🙂

So the secret is bring a big heavy bag of flagship gear from the company you're an ambassador for... got it! Nothing says discrete like an A1 with a 70-200. Sorry, not paid to travel with 70+ pounds of camera gear. We mere mortals can't compete. I'll stick to my trusty X-T3 with the 27mm pancake.

I understand, it is not the gear - it is what you see and how you use it. There are many people who want to invest in future gear, and showing what is available to them is part of what these videos do. I am very lucky I am a Sony ambassador - I achieved this by working for many years and becoming very good at my craft and telling stories. It is a profession to me that I am very proud of.

WOW, too much equipment for me. I’m a retired 68 year old pro photographer. Only shoot Leica M, now for size and weight. M10R,and M monochrome. 24mm,35mm,70mm, 90mm. Will probably add the 135mm. I keep it lite or i wont carry it.

I have mentioned that i use the medium zoom lens for 80% of my work. It is possible to go out and shoot with one body and one zoom lens. However, as a professional I cannot take the risk of a camera dropping and breaking. I need back up on cameras and some redundancy on lenses. I do miss my more care free days when I was able to travel light. Also, there are many people that like to see what gear is available so they can make a choice for the future. All that being said, maybe we will make the next series with me and one lens 😄
