Margrete did not yranslate The Lord of The Rings, she did illustrate it though, and Tolkien liked her illustrations very much.

I think the best translation / comparison to "collective " ... is the Danish version of a "frap house" we share the cost of rent. we share the costs of beer and food. we do the dishes together, and share the washing machine and boyfriends.
