It's already offensive you would mock identification as a concept, by equating a human being to some cis chemical compound, an object, in the nonsense utterance "I identify as cis". Your identifiers are the thigs OTHERS can IDENTIFY you by. There's no other "self" identifying except being realistic when witnessing a mirror. Similarly sodomy is not "gayness", except for the fact that the "gay" movement in the 1970's demanded medical cover for the inevitable BLOOD INFECTION diseases, that their lifestyle of sodomy MULTIPLIES the threat of. Now they pollute the minds of children by calling blood infections a primarily reproductive affliction, which of course remains utterly malevolent as you teach kids that protecting themselves from syringes and sores falls under what we call "sex education". My heart has been twisted up and broken day after day since Oct 7th. Emma Vigeland said "This has literally changed my brain chemisty." during one of her segments on the Majority Report and I agree with that. To be fair it doesn't make sense to support hamas if you are a supporter of LGBT. I wouldn't go so far as to say support Isreal but to support hamas is crazy.

That first bit you mentioned regarding Israel’s history of legalizing LGBTQ rights says it all. Israel claims they are some LGBTQ haven but won’t even allow same sex marriages to take place.
Does Israel recognize same sex marriage? Does it host of largest pride events every year? As far as safe haven, with nearly 300 million Arabs in the region, where would be the safest place to go in the Middle East?

Actually Tel Aviv has a fabulous gay Pridel, one of the biggest, plus a huge LGBTQ community. Also gay Palestinians fleeing persecution from the PA in W Bank. Of course Jones wouldn't go into those details, as it ruins his very one sided narrative..

Recalling that picture of the Israeli soldier with a pride flag standing behind the ruins of Gaza, I cannot imagine a scenario where Palestinians who saw that picture would become more open to LGBT individuals
It makes me wonder if that isn't the intended result. Like if a bunch of dudes killing people in town were waving a New England Patriots banner around while they did it, people might associate Patriots fans with villains and murderers and react with irrational fear/violence.

We have probably the most progressive constitution of any country and l, as a gay white male of Colonial British stock, suffer no discrimination. Owen Jones is easily one of the most empathetic, smartest, most courageous journalists we have and I'm in awe of his coverage of this genocide. I draw strength knowing that there are people like Owen Jones in this world holding fast to the truth and not afraid to use his platform to fight for those who are marginalized and without a voice.
It may sound cliched to say that the people threating Owen are the ones with the problem, but there's a lot of truth in that - those filled with such shameful prejudice and who can find such a lot of time to attack others rather than examine their own lives must truly be troubled. That aside, this is an issue that highlights the complexities of being totally against Israel's decimation of Gaza while recognising that there are heroes and villains, wrongs and rights, on both sides, in ways additional to the physical conflict. I'm horrified by Israel's hypocrisy in "promoting" and persecuting the LGBTQ+ community and I'm equally horrified by the persecution of gay Palestinians by fellow Palestinians, and not only because I am gay. It has to be said - I'm very fortunate to be a gay man in Spain and not in Israel, Gaza or the West Bank.
Israel does not pwrscite the LGBTQ community. Tel Aviv has one of the largest gay prides and a thriving LGBTQ community. Jones reporting are one sided and thus extremely misleading

A special thanks, Owen, for this video. I'm gay but I get little homophobia, as I'm a bear. I totally agree about the universality of human rights. It is important for us all to stand up for each other, especially when a people are as oppressed as Palestians in Gaza. I'm reminded of the words of Pastor Martin Niemöller's poem, "First they came for the socialists..." The pinkwashing used by Israel to justify the oppression of Palestinians is something that we must stand up against. The use of the rainbow flag in this context needs to be challenged, so that the world can see that we are courageous and compassionate people.

2.05 "Same sex marriage is still illegal in Israel - for that matter so are interfaith marriages". This could be misconstrued. My understanding is that while inter faith or same sex marriages are not possible in Israel (mainly due to the ability to perform marriages being only possible by religious authorities), existing marriages from other territories (including same sex) are legally recognised. Clearly not a great system but details matter and I would hate for this to be used to discredit the other important and valid points Owen makes.
Absolutely Owen, 10 million times over. We must all stand up for one another irrespective of who we are and our own beliefs. I could write paragraphs on this, but I would only be repeating less eloquently what you so clearly and passionately express. I stand with you, and anyone who is victimised or terrorised or harmed by the less spiritually aware.

Owen, this is a well argued, balanced rebuttal. The IDF sees no contradiction in weaponising LGBTQ rights to boast of their false moral supremacy, yet denying Gaza rights to human life. It's just a very crude divide & rule tactic repeatedly used by settler colonisers to weaken resistance movements. Being gay does not necessarily confer a progressive outlook. A number of famous people from the gay community are notorious for Far Right & reactionary views. These include Ernst Rohn (Leader of the SA - Hitler's Storm Troopers), Douglas Murray & Dr David Sharkey. Likewise, being a heterosexual may not necessarily determine your political ideology either.
I discovered your content not long after the case SA submitted to the ICJ, I think about 3 weeks ago. You do incredible work, Owen, and you and those like you are important voices in the global conflict against oppression and repression!

I don't have a twitter, but I do browse (mostly you, Novara, Mehdi and other progressive journalists), and I've seen this as a consistent theme in the responses to you. They don't get that this is entirely rooted in bigotry, both homophobia and racism. This weaponisation of bigotry is entirely commensurate with the weaponisation of anti-Semitism and other bigoted DARVO tactics. There's a reason you and Ash have long occupied the joint number two spot as my favourite journalists, now elevated to one and two since the death of the late, great John Pilger.
