Hi Greg, I couldn’t have said it better myself. As I watched Mr. Babe’s touching and sincere video, I was wondering how I could express my feelings for his honesty and love not just for his beautiful fish but his listeners as well. Thank you Mr. Gabe for a touching video. By the way, I love all your videos and I was wondering why I hadn’t seen you on RU-vid. A great big welcome back from all your fish families. I’m from Edmonton Alberta, and wouldn’t miss one episode. And yes, I even watch the older videos over and over knowing I’m sure there’s something I will glean from your knowledge and experiences. ( Pat’s my hubby ) this little message is from his wife, Cathy. 🐟🐟🐟🐟

I was first introduced to Jack Wattley’s Discus, in a Tropical fish magazine. It leaves an impression on you when you see a turquoise discus for the first time. In those days, having an aquarium, usually meant getting a goldfish or mollies or some angelfish. If it was swimming and eye-catching, you bought it. Information was very difficult and so I always had my books. Discus for the Perfectionist, along with Dr. Axelrod's Atlas of Freshwater Aquarium Fishes was my foundation to the hobby. After many years of being envious and trying to obtain information on discus fish, I finally researched and obtained the source of these fish, and called Jack Wattley , unaware that he would be the one who actually answered the phone! I was totally surprised, shocked that such a busy and well achieved man answered his phone. I learned a wealth of information about Jack and his dedication to the hobby and his followers. That’s how I became transformed into meeting Gabe with a phone call as well, and thanks to his hard work and dedication to this hobby- we can all enjoy having great success! These people are absolutely amazing, honest and still help more than ever with this hobby. You can actually feel the love! I’ve called several times over the years, literally years and they always answer my questions. I’m blown away by the RU-vid videos! There’s only one Jack Wattley And Gabe has certainly been our saving grace🙏. Unbelievable story tears came to my eyes.

To be honest Gabe, that brought a tear to my eyes and choked me up. That you so much for sharing. I truly appreciate the dedication you and Jack had for discus. I'm 64 years old and remember Jacks article in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine were he smeared hard boiled egg yoke on the rim of white soup bowls for the fry. When he first shared his beef heart recipe I started making it and WOW what a difference it made for all my fish. For all the passion and dedication you and Jack put into the discus you have my utmost respect and love! Thank you so much!!!

Good Lord, Gabe!! You made me cry!! I can only imagine the excitement you felt meeting Jack that first time! I have always loved discus, but thought I would never be able to have them in my home. Two months ago there was a guy moving and was selling his fish. He had 3 discus, several cardinals and 2 plecos. Several months earlier I had bought anothers guy's fish tank and fish. It was a 125 and I thought I was in heaven. One of his fish had died in it and it was very dirty. I cleaned and nuked the tank a few times until a few guppy could survive. By the time the discus fella came along, the tank was cycled and ready. He chose me for the fish!! I have gotten one more since that was the same size as one of his. So far they are doing awesome and I am thrilled!!

I'm a student on the UFRPE fisheries engineering course - Brazil. And I loved the discs as soon as I saw them, I want to dedicate my personal and professional life to these fish. I discovered this channel because of a colleague who already had a degree who started his small production, and he always talked about Jack and Dave (the one who had the desire inherited from Jack). Watching this video was very moving for me personally. Because part of the love for the animal is mainly making this hobby grow. Bringing more peace and happiness to people's homes.

Wow, what a heart felt story of your passion, hard work and journey to the most sought out fresh water fish Discus. Paying tribute to the God Father of Discus to the one and only Mr. Jack Wattley. Thank you very much for carrying the torch and to contribute to the community of Discus fish lovers. You are a saint to help us with your vast knowledge to care, feed, medicate and to utilize the advance of technology to make our life as Discus hobbyists much simpler and enjoyable with much less stress. I have a 180 gallon tank that I had used in the past for Silver, Jardini and Golden Asian Arowanas which has been sitting in my garage for over 2 decades. This video may just inspire me to ignite that flame of passion for the most colourful freshwater fish which has the closest resemblance to vibrant colours of salt water fish. At the age of 54 as we are empty nesters now I was contemplating on buying a puppy however upon watching your video of your journey to Jack Wattley's I might have been transformed back to being a Discus lover again. Thank you very much for your awesome videos which takes a lot of time to set up with proper lighting to film, staff to record and much time to edit these videos to present them tastefully. I truly honour your videos on educating us Discus/Fish Hobbyist-thank you again my friend for sharing your journey to Jack Wattley's!🙏 William

❤😊You talk about your father and Jack with so much love in your heart. It's wonderful that you haven't forgotten who accompanied you with passion on your way. I myself have had the dream of having these discus fish for 30 years, but I never had the time to take some to please you. Due to illness, I was forced into a wheelchair and as a result I am no longer employed. I now have the time to devote myself to the fish and have taken some. With your help, I managed to have a pair of babies swim by your side. It is a great experience to watch them with the babies. Thanks to you and your help. My dream would be to be able to see you and your discus fish in person one day. This video reflects the passion you have for discus in your videos. Very touching video from you. Many thanks for that from Germany 😊

Really loved this video not only as a lifelong fish keeper who loves discus, but as someone who also knows the great value in doing what you love and the satisfaction of being able to turn your hobby into a successful career that you thoroughly enjoy. Really loved hearing your story! I remember seeing Jack Watley’s Discus in ads since I was a kid back in the 80’s & 90’s, and I’ve always dreamed of keeping discus (especially a Jack Watley discus), but after trying a couple times with discus from my LFS that didn’t live more than a week, I put that dream on ice until I could learn more about how to keep them happy, healthy, & thriving (and until I had the time to dedicate to them as well). Currently have about 6 tanks running in our house, all freshwater planted except for a new salt water reef tank, and I’d love to have a tank dedicated to Discus one day.

Gabe, George in Seattle here. What a great video. I had heard versions of the full story about how you and Jack met, but it was very nice to hear it from you the man who lived it. It is a great story and you continue to grow that story into something maybe even you never thought it would be. I always know where to get quality Discus and I also know I have a good friend in Gabe Posada. Thank you for all the wonderful help you have given me over the years to grow what I have. If it were not for you I would not have over 40 tanks and 90-something Discus. Lots of great plans for 2023 and you are very much a part of it. Thank you again, my friend. Dear Gabe, Your fairy tale really touched me, and tears filled my eyes as I saw the emotion on your face. I truly admire you and the journey you've taken. If I had been there, I would've come over and kissed that holy ground too. I'm just starting out in this hobby, I'm an Iranian teacher working in Turkey. I've recently begun my own journey with discus fish, known to be quite challenging, but I'm fascinated and obsessed with them. Before getting my discus, I did tons of research. I got filters to use RO water and then grabbed mechanical and biological filters for the tank. But even with all that, I still run into problems and make mistakes. I know I'm nowhere near where you're at, but all I can do is watch your videos, learn from them, and basically copy your every move. You're my trusted mentor for taking care of my discus!Thank you for your valuable and free trainings." ❤

Long distance calls were expensive 60-90’s as young people use to free cell long distance. Info was difficult without the internet as only 10 plus year old books in libraries

Thanks Gabe for the history. I have wondered about the history and it was GREAT of you to share it. You and I are about the same age, and I totally understand the feelings involved. I was privileged to get to know Mr. Bob Wilson of the Greater Toronto Area and I too was part of the "handing off of his fish room" to the next generation. It does happen or will happen to all of us at some point. Bob had a lot of paraphernalia that related to his good relationship with Jack Wattley and I was privileged to receive a lot of those items when Bob handed his Fishroom to me last year. I am only saddened that I never got the chance to meet Mr. Wattley, but at least I watch all of your videos and want to think that I'm getting to know him vicariously. Aprecio todo que haces para nosotros. -- Michael

Great story. Meant to be as they say :) I am looking for a pair of Bright Yellow Discus and a pair of Snow White Discus. Its been difficult to find and get these in a healthy state here in NYC local shops. I may order them from your site instead. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for continuing Jack's legacy. I remember being a 8-9 yr old kid, and seeing Jack's advertisements in TFH magazine. I dreamed of one day being able to buy some of his discus fish. At the time in the 90's, a $30 fish was a lot of money for a kid...and I lived in Ohio. In high school I found some locally bred turquoise discus. I had good success keeping them and eventually got a breeding pair. My education took me into the field of biology and I now hold a PhD. In the near future I hope to finally get some Jack Wattley discus. Thank you, Gabe.
