I need a suggestion from you. I am facing a big problem. The pH of my Discus tank is increasing even though I use 100% RO water. Before putting water in the tank, I take an empty bucket and put an air pump in the water and leave it for about 12 hours. Only water, air pump and an empty bucket and after 12 hours I add Seachem Discus buffer. For some time the pH comes between 6-7 but then on checking it again, it automatically reaches 8. The pH does not remain stable. I have tried everything but it is not becoming stable. This happens when I add air pump to the water. Without air pump, it remains perfectly fine.
How to keep them healthy all the time? Maintenance and prevention medicine rutinity? Can you help me out? Mine after 1-2 months, 1 or 2 discus suddenly stop eating without any external diseases symptoms. Eyes all clear, colour nice and bright, just don’t want to eat. Avoiding burger they usually eat. And they died because not eating for months. From thick body to paper pinched head shape. Please help. Thanks mr Gabe 🙏

So sorry to disturb you, i am new to discus, not even 2 years keeping them, i am a hobbyist, love discus very much, i am now repairing everything that needs to be fix, i already lost half of them in this past year, dunno what’s wrong. i am watching your youtube channel non stop. 1 quick question cause i can’t find it in your videos, do i need UV lamps inside the sump filter? Cause i noticed after water change add bacteria starter, uv lights off, my discus appetite is very good, they eat a lot and fast, but I turned uv lights on, their appetite decreased a lot. Eat very little and very slow, quite the opposite. Some say i have to use uv light to kill the parasites and bacteria, some say not to. Which one is correct? I am confused. Watching this video 1 year later. Man, I gotta tell you, I am beyond moved by your sincerity and genuine love for discus. I share the love for discus with you and so many others. It was so refreshing to watch this. Thanks for your dedication and continued service in this amazing hobby.

One question Gabe. So once the chemical reaction is done after approximently 3 days and the ph drops to let’s say 7.0 Now a day or two later it’ll go back up as you said. So if I were to add the 7.0 ph water into my tank.. I’m assuming the ph will then begin to rise again on the 4th or 5th day as it would in the bin? I have 2 pairs of discus and a colony of Amazon Puffer fish that I’m attempting to breed. My discus have before but the eggs didn’t survive due to the ph being to high and I’d assume the KH and GH as well being to high. Anyways I got this aquarium soil that lowers the PH to minimum 6.3, even with a high KH it’ll in a way you could say override the KH and drop the PH and keep it steady. I have a PH reader instrument and the soil is actually doing its job and lowering the PH. My question is is if I were to do this method with the muriatic acid and lower the PH to whatever my PH is in these tanks, fill the tanks, will my ph stay since I have this soil in it or will it rise and then lower again? I don’t want major PH swings and kill my fish. Thank you! I hope this wasn’t confusing. I’m trying to explain as best as possible!

Dearest mr. Jack it's always a pleasure listening to your comments and directions. Very useful. We have a case of a male Discus grade A++, parts of a working pair. It started to have swim bladder issue swimming in circles but standing straight. We tried thermal treatment of 32 degrees centigrade temperature with adding Epsom salt for a week now. He continues to stand straight but swimming circles upside down. We need please further advice from you.
keep breeding discus .. for the love of Wattley’s dream… but sell discus to people who is not only looking at it commercially.. but have feel to love amd care for discus.. trust me most of the sellers don’t carry for how and what these innocent creatures go through.. sad but true.. Love Discus.. 😘😍🥰
