Easily one of the best narrators ever. I hope this guy continues to have a long and successful career. I'd love to see an episode about some more hand made goods. Like the episode on Bamboo Steamer Baskets. I love automated manufacturing as much as the next guy, but not everything can be made that way (yet).
what made the narration good in your opinion? it feels like a generic advertisement voice reading a script example at 1:32 "the shell starts with chilled, premium grade butter. its the creamiest" sounds like 'read this script provided by our marketing department or you can't air the video'
@@bageltwo yeahh to outsiders working in a factory would seem like a dream, you know, the amount of food and stuff. but man, when i worked at the ice-cream factory, i despised it soo much, and couldn't eat ice-cream for 2 years after i'd quit.
I was a production worker in a bakery for about a year. Feeding dough into the various bread making machines. Had to pay attention or risk injury though. I did packaging and loading the trucks too. It was always 100 degrees in the building and I dreaded that! However, I did my fair share of sampling the donuts and desserts off the racks in the chiller room. That more than made up for my discomfort. I was in my early 20’s so I worked off the calories in no time!
@@phantomstrider the truth is, they spit it out after ensuring it tastes right. But that surprised me too. Even if he spits it out he’s still getting substantial amounts of sugar. I’d hate to be his dentist!
I can't explain it, but that pie assembly line is made so much more satisfying by the fact that it goes every other station and makes two cycles instead of just doing everything in one straight, linear sequence. Such a well-choreographed production line.
@@mreeeeeegf Pretty sure its the only way Discovery could get them to film the show. Otherwise its a no deal. Big example would be Hershies-like candies, as Hershies doesnt really need the publicity. Another example is Amy's apple pies, they where a smaller brand back then.
This is basically how we make pies at Marie callenders, but our machine turned the dough into bricks then it's pressed into sheets, and we hand pour the insides of the pie then they go around the table one more time so the top layer can be put on, it's pretty basic
*_I think hand pouring is better because did you see the amount of waste of the apples that fell outside of the pie? Also what happens to the extra trimmed layer of dough that gets mixed up with the spilling apple juices? Does it get back to the kneading place with the juice mixtures?_*
@@mozvidz it depends, we have a scoop that fills the pies perfectly, as long as we don't over fill it, the extra dough will be cut off and we just mix it back in, we also though a bunch out of it looks weird
@@mozvidz Successful enterprises rarely waste much. They cannot afford to when their competition is not. So they likely put the "scrap" dough back in the dough extruder's hopper and "run it through one more time". This concept is not new - see the "solera" process for making sherry, for an example.
Considering how the narrator made a point of mentioning that the ingredients were either organic or the absolute best, either these pies are expensive as all get out or they make up the money by underpaying the workers.
Let’s be honest. This is nothing but a product placement advert. Like they all are. Either the producer gets two crates of the product to show the name or outright pay the SC.
Or the production is done at a high enough scale that the gains for using shit quality supplies are negligible and not worth renegotiating contracts and fees with new, likely foreign, providers.

3:08 can you imagine how fucking boring it must be to do this job for 8 hours a day? Line work in factories is naturally boring, but this seems particularly egregious.
well if I came from another country and didn't know their language that well, this would definitely be a good job to start, but yeah it seems very boring
It's really interesting to see how these pies are made, but I don't think it looked appetizing when they were doing quality control. Also, I know it was unintentional but the line about the butter being creamiest was kind of funny.
Does anyone else watch these and wonder because you have never bought one of these ever at the store or any other of the brands they feature on this show, who buys all of this stock?!
Besides my thought that I would probably end up accidentally stabbing somebody’s hand if it were my job to stab a hole in the top, I feel like I would also end up punching one of the tops of the pies if there were a sequence like they showed where every other tray gets either punched or lifted.
Never, have I had an apple pie as good as what my wife could make. And as I have made improvements to her recipe, never will any factory ever make a pie as good as mine.
But., I know they are nice…but home made baking in the oven? The smell in my kitchen is just fantastic! I still prefer my own. Home made and home made apple doughnuts. (With sharp , real lemon icing) And yes I’m very old.lol. But my kitchen is the heart ❤️ of my home! Enjoy your 🥧 pies everyone!
Some of the taste testers must be sick of eating apple pie. Apple pie is good (don't get me wrong), but taste testing all the time? Just does not sit well with me. Even tho it takes one bite to confirm the whole batch is good. So many batches are made, one slice is good once and a while. Unless you're a apple pie lover and not have a problem eating it all the time.
