This is one of the things that woke me up. They kept asking for more and more money in the same breath saying that they don't pest their members to give money.

Set something aside every WEEK?! The audacity of using that scripture. Witnesses are told not to get a college education, not work full time, live "simply," and in this economy expected to still have money to donate? Nasty.

What woke me up was when Morris left and they begged for money the very next broadcast not even acknowledging Morris or even the deaths and suicide by members who were disfellowshipped. It literally spoke volumes, that money was more important than someone’s life. Could you imagine the families who suffered those deaths and waiting for comforting words in the next broadcast!? I doubt those families are witnesses today. Their obsessions on money and the hell with everyone else is what led me to making a RU-vid Channel and become a RU-vidr and make better friends and family who genuinely care about me, the ExJw Community! ❤

I remember my parents pressuring me to set up a monthly donation. It was especially difficult for me because my parents themselves had me paying a lot for rent. My step father kept raising my rent every time he was mad at me, and at times it was half of my paycheck I was giving him.

That's awful. A suppose you were almost an adult or an adult and you were learning how to keep and work wirh your finances. It's reasonable to pay rent (in actually reasonable cost. Half your salary just for the rent? What?) as helping your parents with all the house expenses if you live with them, but - a big but - You are working and trying to save money so you can first and foremost have enough to get your own place and when you start working, your parents should be the one who help you understand finances so you can properly function as an adult in society. Not to be dependent fiancialy on someone and not to have depts you cannot repay. It sounds like explointation from your own parents. "I had to parent you and I put a lot of money into you, so now, you are going to pay that off" what? Your parent were the ones who choose to have you, you didn't. You don't own them a sht. And I don't get the punishment as a fine in this case. Did they sat you as an actual adult and talked to you as adults about what they dont want you to do under their roof and why? Besides you need that money to as quickly as it's possible move and have your own place. That should be their goal too. Am I missing something?

In the years i was in i never donated, i paid for the magazines when we had too, but then I was always a sceptic and figured God didn’t need my money, since I didn’t have much, he would get over it.

I asked the jws who used to study with me, if that's what they call it. How much of the contribution i give goes towards helping those suffering in worlds disasters compared to building pointless buildings? With all the shouting about the world coming to an end a week next Tuesday, why all the buildings. They no longer come to try to endoctrinate me.

I would much rather give my money to Caleb than Watchtower. This channel gives me much needed therapy to help me overcome all the trauma Watchtower caused. I wish more people would contribute and help this channel - just contribute whatever amount you wouldn't notice if it fell out of your pocket! I am sure you can afford $5 month.

I always thought it was odd that at assemblies we were always in the negative. Like every single time during the accounts report they were having this huge ass bill like 15k and only $8700 in donations so far. I always thought to myself like wth is going on?!? I know electricity, water and toilet paper doesn't add up to all that. It was one huge thing that woke me up. But the biggest thing was when they added debit donation machines in the back of the assembly hall. That took the cake and the last assembly i ever went to.

Critical thinking is needed here!! All the Kingdom Halls, assembly places, were built by volunteers who spent their own time and money to get it done!! Later those buildings are sold! Where does the money go??? Many was let go from Bethel without a dime again free services for years!!

This video does a good job showing their tactics. It was always obvious to me because I always felt like their material was designed to move my feelings and guilt me into doing something. Matter of fact i would prefer that they straight out ask me for money instead of playing all these games. But i stay far away from this cult these days. Back in the day when i used to associate with them I remember seeing all these things. Thankfully i never joined them. I actually expose them every chance i get.

I used to do the online donate feature and at first they would send appreciation letters. Those stopped during 2020.. just a generic "youve donated x amount" they are so corrupt and greedy. Makes me sick that i had automated donations every month.

They never really had to beg. What they did was coerce, $ guilt trip everyone into donating by giving talks about the organization growing and the widow giving her last mite. 🐞 So, instead of giving to the widow, they wanted the widow to give it to them. Even if it meant she was going to miss her last meal.
