Parker v Usyk would be an intriguing fight

Parker was dropped by a HEAD BUTT from Dillian white. ( watch the footage) he was stunned by it for most of the fight but never complained

To say he didn’t have heart against Joyce is too harsh. He literally hit Joyce with everything including the kitchen sink and just got put down from sheer exhaustion.

Parker is the perfect example that clout and one tricking ponying your way to the top doesn't hold a candle to being extremely active in the ring and having a camp that actually works on your weaknesses. Parker has come a long way since that Joyce KO loss, and has now surpassed Joyce in my books in terms of ranking. He had sheer grit and the balls the size of basketballs for taking the fights nobody else wanted to.

I thought Parker was yesterday’s news after the KO loss to Joyce. Yet look at where Joyce is and where Parker is now. Huge credit needs to be given to Andy Lee’s guidance and to Parker’s own grit and determination for both coming back and for keeping up such a high level of activity. If you look at Parker and Joshua’s performance compared to Wilder and Fury’s last fights, clear correlation between high activity level and strong performance.

Zhang was the WBO interim champion and mandotory, so he had the rematch clause, the same as what Joyce did to him.

Nice one Joey! Parker won this on two pillars - his feints and his speed. Combine these two together and Zhang had little chance to time Parker which is Zhang's strength. Zhang was tired but he was also baffled

What people dont see is that Joe hurt Jhang which made him hesitant going in on Joe so he waited to counter Parker which is why he lost

Zhang's shock at the end pissed me off he was good for like 2/3 rounds that is it he got worse as the match went on and he only knocked him down it was not a knockout. Parker did so well to come back the way he did as well reminded me of Fury against Wilder in that first one. Parker should rematch Joyce for a 2nd fight he may win that could be a big fight for both of them.

It was Parker’s body work that slowed Zhangs output

Let’s also remember, Parker was moving , changing levels and stinging Zhang with the in and out style. That can sap energy of the opponent who is trying to walk them down and mentally exhaust them at the same time trying to find the shot that lands. Zhang is one of those fighters, he likes to land his shots to preserve energy otherwise he won’t let his hands go. That is the approach he takes, and that is part of the strategy the Parker camp used against Zhang. I Like both fighters but i honestly thought Parker should have had a unanimous decision- but that’s boxing! 10/8 rounds are never enough when you are up against a busy , fast handed, tough and gutsy fighter like Parker. Zhang needed to do more, a lot more to ensure the win. He didn’t!

Amazing how Parker suffered the unfortunate loss to Joyce that really appeared to be the last we'd see of him, yet just over a year later he's fought five times, bested not only the Bronze Bomber but the man who annihilated Joyce twice.

I’m glad you’re doing this. That was a great victory for Joshua but it’s totally overshadowed with a lot of channels what Parker did. Parker is the perfect example that you can have a couple losses and bounce back better.

Parker vs Joyce was the fight that ended Joyce’s career regardless of the outcome for Parker for that fight. Too much punishment that fight took all that Joyce had left in the tank / career.

When you mentioned Hughie Fury I remembered how close his fight with Parker was and how YOUNG he was. He feels like a huge missed opportunity in the heavyweight division, especially with his old man behind him and his level head. Shame about all the health issues. Parker really sat down on his shots in this fight, he was absolutely excellent and has improved so much. He could overturn every loss he's had if it was today except maybe Joshua

That's a good point about Zhilei Zhang losing this fight than Joseph Parker winning it. I feel Zhang's biggest kryptonite is his work rate in the later rounds. He reminds me a lot like George Foreman. Extremely extremely dangerous in every round but can get outboxed. The difference is Zhang can improve his fitness and work rate... He just gets lazy. Frustrating because Zhang at his best is a top tier heavyweight...

Zangs coach even told him in the last round that he needs a knockout,I heard him say it,& i think Zang got the rematch because he sparked JJ & Parker didn’t,Parker would of beat JJ but he came in overweight & out of shape he was blowing by the 3rd round,and Zang is only a 6 round fighter,Parker just gotta do the same again

Guy had a chect infection fighting Joyce and still tried to get Joyce out of there because he knew he would gas even though it was not the best strategy.

The reason why there was a rematch clause is because Zhang was the WBO Interim Heavyweight Champion, which makes him mandatory for the WBO belt. Same reason Joe Joyce had a rematch clause in his first bout vs Zhang.

Zhang doesn't have the gas to push an advantage. The issue I have with Parker is that he is a bit small compared to the bigger heavyweights. But I have a super soft spot for him. He is a lovely fella. Just a bit too small and IMHO not nasty enough to follow thru with some elbows like other smaller heavys Evander "Real Cheat" Holyfield.

Parker has the real challenges, Joshua is taking an easy fight and tapping himself in the back for good performance. Of course, if you box easy opponents you'll look good, let him face any top-10 and show how good he is.

I believe it was a lack of discipline and ring knowledge that led to JP's earlier losses. His change in camp is the biggest factor behind his remarkable comeback. Under Andy Lee's guidance, JP has transformed his style, evolving into a 12-round fighter with great power behind his punches. In his earlier career, it seemed like JP was unsure of his identity in the ring and his strengths, facing a lot of self-doubt. This new version of Parker is impressive, and I fully support it. However, he still faces a tough task ahead, but he seems to be a lot more equipped. I'm definitely getting behind him in his next coming fights.

Be great to see Parker on top after it all shakes up, you beat Wilder and Big Bang back to back fights you have a chance. I wondered why parker won this but the way you explained it made sense to me, please note I know FA about boxing. as a kiwi I was of course happy that my fellow country man won but I struggled to see how a guy could go down twice and still win.

Another objective and rational comment by Joey on the boxing world. I wish boxing fans would go back and watch the Joshua v. Parker fight again though and realise that the refereeing was very pro-Joshua. It's what you expect challenging a WC on his home ground but I never felt that was a fair fight and have been waiting ever since to see it again with a more impartial referee. Typical of Parker, he never complained and got on with the job of being a pro boxer.

Joseph Parker has been doing much better in front of neutral crowds. Most of his big fights have been in the home countries and crowds of his opponents and it has affected his record.

Lets be honest though, Zhang had kidney failure and suffered from severe dehydration vs Jerry Forrest. Not saying he doesn't have stamina issues though

Exposed his biggest weakness? Seriously? It didn't take a PHD in boxing to figure Zhang out now or 5 years ago. The only drama in the fight was Parker not being durable enough to handle getting caught by a the occasional junk ball that connects.

Credit to Parker and his camp. In the 12th round, Parker still had plenty of gas in the tank and that was the difference. Joe still had bombs in the 12th

You didn't cover it in your video discussion, but Joseph Parker also looks a lot fitter than he was a few years ago. I've been following his pro boxing career since near the beginning (I'm a kiwi), and he definitely looks fitter now than he ever has before.

Not a boxing expert here but I think even though Parker won I think he has more things he can possibly improve than Zhang until the next fight. Zhang is big and has good timing, what he can do better is to cut of the ring more and throw punches in combinations. Parker on the other hand hand had a huge advantage in speed and mobility that I don't think he used to the extent he could (obviously easier said than done). Even though he was the shorter fighter he fought most of the fight at a distance where he could land but not Zhang. That said I think he can still use his speed more and circle out of the firing line. Often at times he would be in and out then standing in front of Zhang allowing him to launch forward.

A lot of people have been saying that we are seeing the best AJ again, but I think if Parker and AJ rematch it would be much more competitive than their first fight. I would probably still have AJ as the favorite, but he is still essentially a puncher and Usyk has shown he has difficulty dealing with a slick boxer mover. Paker has definitely evolved his skills and tactics in this area - I still rate Usyk higher - and undoubtedly he is fighting with more belief than when he was champion. So I think this would be an interesting rematch, and much closer than the first time round.

It looks like, the only way for zhang to win has to be either through TKO or KO his opponents.

Fighters cant look defeated after a fight coz for some reason, it influences the judges.

Apart from the two 10-8 rounds, for the other 10 rounds Judge 1 gave Zhang 1 round (115-111) Judge 2 gave Zhang 2 rounds (114-112) Judge 3 gave Zhang 3 rounds (113-113)

If Zhang let his hands go, he would have gassed out in the sixth round. Parker would have knocked him out late.

zhang had open a stream. he said he thought he already win with 2 knockout. Then he was afraid that Parker would seize the opportunity to fight back. So he stayed on the defensive after that. He didn't expect to lose at all
