He said: "Well, sometimes in this business, you just have to do things that you're not proud of." And I said: "That's where you and I, sir, are very different."
It blows my mind that that exec thought Merry Go 'Round shouldn't have been the first single. I remember when that song came on the radio I sat up, slowed down, and really listened. WHAT A SONG!
You have to realize this is the same industry that pushes crap from Sam Hunt/Kane Brown/FGL/etc. I am not the least bit surprised an exec (assuming Scott Borchetta?) would think this. They have no knowledge of talent just what will sell.
I get what she’s saying. The industry is so overloaded with songs about boats, beer, girls, and drinking. Kaceys songs are so true to herself and every lyric means something to her. None of it is written for fluff or show.
Truly a younger version of Dolly Parton, in her own unique beautiful way. Had the pleasure of seeing her here in Austin, TX. A personable and psychedelic set indeed ✨🦋
Dolly is in no way psychodelic.....kacey is lovely, but she's no Dolly or Loretta because her music isnt country. It's that simple. Good music. Not country. More like Peter, Paul and Mary.
Mar marbama Mar marbama in Kacey’s own unique touch she’s psychedelic, she even talks about doing LSD as inspiration for a song. But personality wise and how she talks, a lot like Dolly yes. I watched old Dolly interviews and noticed it right away, Dolly is also one of the few she looks up to as well!
The LSD and psychodelics narrative has to stop. Doesnt make her look cool. Makes her look stupid. Young people like her music. That talk is not a good message. Damned stupid.
Mar marbama just saying that’s what I meant by the psychedelic vibe cause she adds her own 70’s/hippie touch. She actually says in an interview she doesn’t encourage it, just that she’s done it once & tried it before herself. I mean isn’t that what most famous artists back in the 70s/80s to this day did majority of the time anyways...?
I genuinely love her. I only discovered her about six months ago when I was researching most critically acclaimed albums and Golden Hour came up. Needless to say, her simplistic lyrics accompanied by her potent emotive vocals made me cry a few times. A fantastic record and well-deserved album of the year. I also really appreciate that she is a fashion queen! Her met gala look was one of the very few who aced it. She needs to blow up commercially because she’s what we need for a country-pop crossover now that Taylor Swift’s quality has plummeted throughout the years and Carrie Underwood is nowhere to be found.
Every time she speaks about who she is and what she believes, her words resonate w me because they’re so profound. Her sweet personality shines through and it makes me want to cry because I’m HONESTLY GENUINELY so happy that such a good person got to such a good place. People tend to think that by making “small” sacrifices you will benefit from it in the long run, I think while it’s true in some cases, you shouldn’t regret not listening to your gut. I’m glad that she’s strong and adamant to be who she is. It’s so hard to believe in yourself when you don’t know the outcome, especially when you’re told there’s another way. I’m glad she made bold choices. I’m also glad that she met someone she loves. I don’t envision myself being in love with someone and want them forever. She gives me hope though
Omg! She sort of reminds me of Paris Hilton meets Crystal Gayle and Megan Fox...only slight resemblance. Of course she is no way like Paris. She is beautiful inside and out, talented, genius, down-to-earth, and all around amazing.
@@carmenmortin4417 What are you talking about? How is that weird? She looks remind me of those people combined...based on looks only. I am referencing personality of Kacey seems beautiful inside and out. It is based on public personality. There is something that is considered public personality as well. We don’t need to know someone personally to make reference to what they are inside. Personality is just that...knowing someone inside can include both public or personal persona. Paris’s public persona doesn’t seem like a genius.
She’s so well spoken, beautiful inside and out and authentic. I’m borderline honored to be a fan of hers and have the privilege to listen to her amazing music.
I'm 72 years old now and I haven't had TV in my house since the 4th of July weekend of 1991, so I never heard of Kacey Musgraves until I clicked on this video, but I have to say that in my opinion there's hardly a more beautiful woman in the world.
She has some of the best lyrics. I am a huge pop artist, euro, bubble-gum, country, rnb, rap... POP. Her sound usually sounds more country then pop but she is still country-pop and she is a gift. I bought Golden-Hour, it is not my favorite of hers but I am so glad she won a Grammy for it!
They say women age like wine just to be nice, but the saying rings true with Kacey. She was a cute, sweet girl in her early performances, but now she looks like a gorgeous lady/woman. She is very witty and funny at her concerts, and her songs, band, and voice complete the package. Ms. Musgraves is a mus see, particularly in the small-attendance format where she interacts with her loyal fans and is very appreciative of their support.
I was a fan of Kacey when I sang in a group in the Philly area and she was an aspiring singer/songwriter in TX. I'm so glad that she's had the success she's had. No one is more deserving IMHO.
I found as A lyricist that you can write lyrics about anything as long as it does not sound vapid or not relatable and I found putting myself in someone else’s shoes and singing from their point of view gives you those songs that you want that you may no longer are able to write because you are no longer unhappy or happy in love or whatever and I found as I got older that is what a lot of artists do. Point in case Taylor Swift pretty much said it a lot of her songs are not about love for her relationship they are about other people and their relationships and love is a subjective and relationships are not just one thing the world is not black-and-white our life is not black-and-white and I have freed myself from that view and thought process and I’m lucky and I am objective and I am able to put myself in other people shoes because of my compassion and empathy and good artists and singers do that I’m looking for my time in the limelight, it’s coming. See y’all soon 😎
The type of people like Kacey's record executive seem to care more about maximization of profit and reaching a large audience on a more shallow level than connecting with a smaller cherished group of listeners and that is what is wrong with most popular music and the music business in my opinion. This world needs more people like Kacey
PUBLIC: " I don't like country music but i like Kacey musgraves" PACER SHARK: "Yeah.............it's called POP MUSIC" (Seriously, is this woman even FROM the south? she doesn't even have a SOUTHERN ACCENT).
She's a young Dolly Parton(*of course there can be ONLY ONE DOLLY PARTON). But if you do an "song sync" "voice match" she sings damn near identical. You can hear it. Play a song like Jolene by Dolly then play a song like Butterflies then you will hear the pitch, tone, damn near identical vocal & levels in their voice. It's uncanny. That's kinda what caught my attention. She's different.
Yah the whole pop culture music and artists are just mixed , they are not genuine and are not self respected if they know themselves ,celebrities are so WAVY now , and I’m not using this word WAVY just like that ., musicians nowadays are very SEXual than ART ! Than being creative !! It’s a big competition , I understand , but music to reach people and touch people is just beauty; and a natural art. I don’t want pop and hip music wannabe like Ariana and Selena or even Taylor Swift , they r also strugglers in finding the essence of the real meaning and music .
